I'm doing a fictional novel set at BMC in 1966 that is a murder/mystery. The hero of the book (a Graduate Trainee) does a stint at Bathgate where Harold Musgrove was Plant Director. I've got some stories from Harold of those days, but any others from people who worked there would be great. I'm an ex Austin Apprentice!
It was a man made sculpture, but most people walk past it thinking it's just a mound. It was part of a collection of things to see on the cycletrack from Edinburgh to Glasgow including the magic bucket. A steel foundry bucket that seems to hang in mid air. Found at morissons roundabout in Bathgate now.
Loved it, well done. I;m now session clerk at Boghall Parish Church where you will see the old gates of the North British Steel foundry gates in the Garden and we are turning the garden into a community resource with a project called Artlink Ediburgh Come and see it if you are interested.
