I was surprised by the size of the town. I had no idea it was as large as it is. It is heartwarming to know how the residents are working together to rescue the town. I think this is the only way we will be able to save our beautiful country from total neglect and destruction - a case "of the people by the people for the people". Thanks for the video.
Hi you two, I must say out of all the other little towns you have shown us in yhe Free State I must say Vrede is by far the most beautiful as far as trees or vegetation on a whole goes. Everyone's yards so well maintained. I an in awe. Thanks once again, enjoy and he safe.❤
It is fantastic that the residents are so passionate about the town and keeping it so good. There appear to be a lot of small towns doing similar things. Soos hulle se n boer maak altyd n plan.
Bring back old old memories I finished school here in 1978 my first train ride when I had to go to the army, the station that time was perfect and neat it's heartbreaking to see the station now thanks for the video keep up the great work and videos❤❤❤
Thanks for the video. I grew up on a farm, Mooigenoeg, near Vrede in the Feestate. Now that 3 names in the same sentence always got people smiling if I tell them. Maybe it did not rub off on my character so well, but I still own the farm at least. Yes, that WAS a nice big hospital, but now are just a clinic. Wish I could be the "backseat driver," and act as a "radar" for you as in "ry daar," "draai soontoe." If I'm not mistaken and my "recall surfs me, that "mosque" was or is the Catholic church. The small one I cannot remember if it was Methodist. The one in the centre of own is the NG moeder kerk, and there is another NG church at 20::00 in the video. That burned down school was the "Fred Wentzel laerskool," till, I think around 1994.
hi we enjoy your traveling ,if you decide to pass by Tweeling just for interest sake my late father was the Mayor of Twelin Jannie van Rensburg and he also owned Tweeling garage , the Desotho dealership (American car)
What a name! Vrede and along a lekker road. Again, the vastness and beauty are unequivocally special. The light... no wonder people are so much happier in Southern Africa. Those kinds of towns usually have the best Rissians and Chips shoppes..Ek wens ek het nou deur daardie area gereis.
Vrede is a nice town. So many trees and nice vegetation. I love the town. Beautiful guest house. I love this area of our country. Thank you for showing Vrede to us. Well done. Next one you will see me
Hi you two! Thank you for taking me to this Free and Peaceful town. It is bigger than I thought. Beautiful stone buildings, churches and tree lined streets. The town seems to have everything it needs. Gibson Place looks quite comfy and welcoming. I'm ready for the next trip! Keep safe!
I enjoy your tours. I am a Free State rwsident in a rural town and started knowing the Free State through your tours; congratulatiins for the great job.
I really liked this town. The red roof church was very pretty and of course the tiny one as well. Everything neat and clean. Nice to hear the community taking charge of where they live and getting involved. Loving this trip next to dusty at the back.🎉❤🎉
Hi guys another gem neat and tidy wide tree-lined streets I especially liked the one with palm trees. Very interesting history. The little church with the onion shaped dome looks a German church to me with the cross on top I doubt it is now a mosque they normally destroy any Christian ✝️ signs .shame about the swimming pool but the bowls club and golf were great .loved the red roof church as Sonia said it really hilight the sandstone construction. Your accommodation was topnotch with the old argar range in the kitchen wood floors old furniture were charming along with the beautiful gardens. Cattle in town love it .your cheery beer 8% that's strong ( in Amsterdam there was a bar called the Gollum sold 100 different beers Trappest monks beer was 12% crazy) great video thanks for taking me along cheerio till the next one
Vrede was a big surprise for us, especially as we have never been there. I actually never even gave it a thought. Now, I would like to visit them sometime.
Really enjoyed seeing Vrede, never been there. I feel the little church might have been Lutheran. The burnt down school made me so sad. When I was in std 2, part of our school burnt down. It was a shock to see that morning. I particularly remember the horrible smell. We had to have some classes in the hall.
Thank you for sharing Coco Girl. I admire your courage and love that you give. I feel the same. Your story and chanel inspires me so much. I would love to do a story with you. As a child I grew up with Johovas witness parents. I ran away to pur nearby location and spent time with our people. Later at age I ran away to Jhb, became an artist and worked with Jewesh art agents. They made me grow and they exported my art. Anyway. I traveled via taxi from Nelspruit Mpumalanga to jhb to deluver my art. The jews have only been good to me. In 2010 in recession I left the company and moved back to Mpumalanga South-Africa. I disowned my parents and am now happy in Barberton Mpumalanga. I just love your story. Thank you for sharing your love with us🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤ GOD bless!! Shalom!!🙏🏻💐✨
It is good to see most of the churches and places of worship are so well kept in all the small towns. Here in the UK small churches are being turned into houses. A shame
There is a small butchery there that sells beautiful biltong, fresh, soft and oh so tasty. I used to buy that on my way to Joburg. Their boerewors is so thick and tasty. And the prices are good Enjoy❤❤
Just before the "Play with the Lion Cubs" sign, to the right there is a little yellow triangle sign with 414 written on it, next to it is a red block, this is the location of the Transnet New Multi-Product Pipeline which passes through Vrede on its route from Durban to Gauteng.
Hi Sonia and Curtis, Ek geniet die Vrystaat trippie geweldig baie so in die stilligheid. Die wereld het n skoonheid van sy eie. Ek hou duimvas dat julle MEMEL ook gaan besoek. Het baie vakansies daar gehad. Veilig ry.
The townsfolk are making a concerted effort to work together as a community to clean up their town. 👌🏻🚮 It's so much easier to accomplish this if everyone makes an effort and works towards the same goal.
It seems that the Cape has better roads than the Free State. While watching the episodes set in the Free State, one can't help but notice the number of potholes and the poor road maintenance, which is likely due to politics and corruption, unfortunately. The Cape's roads are not great either, but not as bad as the Free State's it seems. I suppose the Cape is also a wealthier province.
These school fires (everywhere) are relatively recent. I wonder if they all happened over the whole of the last 30 years? Or maybe only over the last 20? Or maybe it's just in the last 10 years? (Swimming pool mosquito pond conversions have a long history so this might just run in parallel with all the accidental fires that accidentally destroyed so much accidentally?
While burnt buildings always sadden us, they are certainly never our main takeaway from any place we visit, including Vrede. We always move along swiftly to the next positive thing we can focus on. 🚙😁
I'm glad we can show you places in your beautiful province you may not have been to yet. I would say Hobhouse in Episode 460 is the smallest town we've visited in the Free State. Overall, I'd say Middelpos in the Northern Cape might be the smallest one out of the 400+ we've visited thus far on our travels. Check out Episode 95 if you haven't yet. Thank you for travelling with us! 🚙😁

We have beer like this in Belgium, and it's called Kriek - I'm not a beer drinker but I like Kriek.
It is good to see most of the churches and places of worship are so well kept in all the small towns. Here in the UK small churches are being turned into houses. A shame
That's where my was born very nice people living
My father was born there and we used catch railway bus from station to outskirts of Vrede town
There is a small butchery there that sells beautiful biltong, fresh, soft and oh so tasty. I used to buy that on my way to Joburg. Their boerewors is so thick and tasty. And the prices are good Enjoy❤❤

I wish and hope Deneysville and Orangeville are in your remaining klein dorpies to visit
This town is clean. How do they get it right?
The townsfolk are making a concerted effort to work together as a community to clean up their town. 👌🏻🚮 It's so much easier to accomplish this if everyone makes an effort and works towards the same goal.
Are you guys going to Memel?
We didn't get to Memel on this trip, no. Perhaps on a future return trip to the Free State. Time will tell. 🚙😁
My cousins came from Vrede.

What a pity the railways have been destroyed .We need the today as there are to many trucks on the roads.
Am I right that Tweespruit is the smallest town you visited thus far?
I'm glad we can show you places in your beautiful province you may not have been to yet. I would say Hobhouse in Episode 460 is the smallest town we've visited in the Free State.

What a waste .The. swimming pool could be fixed and used for recreation
