Don't sell yourself short my friend! I'm pretty much at the closing chapter of my 70+ years of life but still learning and trying new things all the time. When it came to items I really needed I weighed the costs of DIY against buying same item turn-key & ready to go. If I could save a ton of money if I was successful then I would usually go for it. Even if the savings turned out to be nominal or I completely failed at the project, at least I learned something new and perhaps paid for a new tool or two! You can learn to weld by taking on line courses, take classes at your local junior college, or just read up on how to do it from a instruction book. Also, if you can get a local weld shop to inspect your work and give you suggestions, all the better! You can gain other skills same way as the welding example too!
What engine did you use? I thought Briggs and the like only did vertical shaft v-twins? Did you just tilt one of those on its side? Very cool project! :D
It was an industrial Honda 18hp V-Twin. I bought it at a local store called Northern Tool. I believe they are easy to find as they are used in many commercial mowers, roller compactors etc... I stripped everything off of it and fanned the exhaust from stock Harley pipes. I used a commercial Comet clutch with a jack shaft. I also fanned the intake from a chrome exhaust pipe. The video was just a first run. The guy I built it for said it goes over 60mph!!!
Not ripping ass obviousy. First time riding it and no friggin brakes at that time. Not a torque Converter. It's a commercial two stage Primary/Secondary variable speed belt drive with a jackshaft to chain final drive. Waste of a motor? The new owner has had it going 65mph. Fast enough for a friggin toy!
What a hoot!!!! My 4 wheeler has a 250 on it and it will do 60mph. I would think 18hp could go way faster than that. Umm, never mind, I think I just answered my own question. Would you wanna be going over 60mph? I bet old girl still has some throttle left in her. People don't realize it but 18hp is a lot of horse power. Be safe my friend.
Hi I was trying to contact the shop via email and it said it was an improper address and then i tried calling the shop and keep going straight to voice mail. I was wondering if you could give me some contact info please.
kick fucking ass dude love the sounds of those vtwin motors how much does one of those engines cost i can only find new for 2500.00 bucks and thats 3 months wages and i want to make one of these bikes any ideas
I see lots of vtwin vert shaft motors for sale but what does a horizontal shaft motor typically come in? so I can find a donor for my scale 32 project. Also, what type of clutch or tranny do you use? thanks!
Im looking into building one myself to use on campus rather than my Gas hog truck. What can I expect cost wise minus the engine? (Id be using a Kohler Command 25hp engine)
dude, that's no mini chopper, that's a real fukkin chopper!! 18 horses?? I've only got a 6 hp, 196 cc engine for my own chopper project! Keep on ridin'!!
Where, what kind, and how much did you have to pay for belt drive CVT transmission? I didn't know you could buy them big enough for an 18HP engine. Thanks man!
can I possibly do this with the OCC Schwinn Stingray frame?? I have one and havent started my project yet. Any info like steering geo. or stretching frames, or anything at all would be most appreciated thx
I probably wouldn't use this engine. That frame may not hold up too well. You could do a 6hp single and have good luck. I have built a few with the 6hp and they still fly!
is that a stock carb with stock jets and if not what did go with,I built a 23HP V-twin Vanguard into a longtail boat motor with headers leading into 30in Harley Fish tails, you can see it on my site ,plus if i supply a new 23HP and send it out to ya ,And if yer still into this would you consider building one for me ,if so how much .just PM at my youtube site if yer interested
This thing is fantastic. If I could have one mini chopper from a you tube video this would be it. Way better than the one I made, and I like mine a lot! =) GREAT JOB!
I know. Honda power equipment industrial engines aren't really made for high HP. Loads of torque and fun to ride. I race a Factory Honda RS125 GP bike and that 2 stroke makes 44 HP. Love the smokers too.
The Mlf it depends on style, engine, wheels, chrome, billet , exhaust etc etc etc. this one sold for just under $3,000. How much you looming to spend? Shipping will be pricey too I'm sure.
May be used in a huge generator or a small roller compactor. Some industrial zero turn mowers use them too. I special ordered a comet industrial variable speed clutch / jack shaft assembly. I don't remember what model but it came out of a catalog at my buddies machine shop.
I'm planning on building a mini chopper like yours with a 18 horsepower Briggs and Stratton. I want it to be able to go at least 60 mph. Did u use any kind of multi gear transmission? What's the gear ratio to get the speed u have?
Fantastic ! Nice work.. I see that the video gamers gave you a thumbs down.. that's okay.. those fuckers couldn't change the batteries in their own remotes..
Nice, I just came across a "big block" 998cc Vanguard, it's pretty tough. Have to get the timing all squared away. Or maybe not? We'll see. Running the stock giant 2bbl carb, Stock manifold and carb I got from Al at Performance V Twins in Monroe, NC. He has the trick stuff for these Vanguards. I'm going with a mild cam, and whatever trick intake Al has. Nice motors. Getting a heavy duty Torque Converter as well.
Great build. Im in the middle of one now and cant figure out what brake set up to go with. Did you put hydraulic or mechanical brakes on yours? if possible cause you put up another video showing your brake set up?
I must admit-- cool as, you"ll get about 80 mpg as well with that set up!! Wat"s the address of the company where you got the transmission gear from?? Cheers Rob.
I freaking love it!!! sounds great
Rock Star how much will it take to get this?
Sorry. I sold it right after the video. I built it for the guy. Years ago.
what engine did you use??
Its just crazy how a v twin from a generator can sound like a harley davidson engine but industrial built. Great job on this chopper
It's the straight pipe exhaust.
It has little to do with the engine. It's the exhaust.
Nice@@fish_R_stinky69
Man that thing sounds incredible! Love it! Wish I had the skills to build myself something like that hah.

Nice job!!! good engineering you get an A plus
What engine did you use? I thought Briggs and the like only did vertical shaft v-twins? Did you just tilt one of those on its side? Very cool project! :D

Hey bro can you give us more info on the engine........PLEASE.......That Is the sound and Style we are looking for

Where did you buy your parts from? like the forks, grips, pegs, pipes and other hardware?
I'm looking to get one just like this one im in Arizona how much would charge for one just like this
This one actually cost about $2500. to build. Can do it cheaper with a different engine.
Great fun on a low budget. Sounds fantastic Joey. Good Job!
@blackphonetic1 LOL I just noticed that. Those are my 2 Schnauzers. Same tape different video. Must of missed the cut in editing. Thanks.
depends on what exactly you want. This one was around $2500. not shipped.
Motor atrasado y no tiene giro😊
I sold this one for $3,000.
maybe it sounds like a Harley,cuzz it has Harley pipes,and its a V-twin....V-twin,sounds funny,My wife has a V-twins ;)
I'd set that seat on the fender and drive it like I stole it.
Theres nothing mini about that beast!
looks like a 20hp Honda gx series vtwin
Listen to the sound! Pure V twin in miniature!
I'd like to have one with less rake to give it more low speed stability - RU taking orders? (I'm in WV)
I actually built my first one before Ridely came out.Thanks. I am planning on building myself one soon.
what's the top speed? I have a horizontal twin just beggin' to be used for something like this!
What a hoot!!!! My 4 wheeler has a 250 on it and it will do 60mph. I would think 18hp could go way faster than that. Umm, never mind, I think I just answered my own question. Did you make the frame yourself ?
Yes. I fanned everything here.
cool shit man

Im looking into building one myself to use on campus rather than my Gas hog truck. What can I expect cost wise minus the engine? (Id be using a Kohler Command 25hp engine)
THAT IS FUCKING BEEEEEEAAAST!
the only thing would make it more beast is if u ditch the cvt and put in a dirtbike gearbox wit 5 gears and a clutch
dude, that's no mini chopper, that's a real fukkin chopper!! 18 horses?? I've only got a 6 hp, 196 cc engine for my own chopper project! Keep on ridin'!!
Pls help i want to make my own mini chopper like yours. How can i do?
Take it to Sturgis lol, if ya still have it
Sold it right after this video years ago.
@@944joey Dang it
damn that sounded like my 74 inch shovelhead!!
18 horsepower with a 614cc engine. Thats a little bit. An 85cc two stroke dirtbike has 18 horsepower.
Did you get the ideal from the ridley motorcycle? The motor setup looks alot like that. VERY COOL.
WHAT A WASTE OF MOTOR IF YOUR RUNNING A TORQUE CONVERTER
AND THATS NOT RIPPING ASS THANKS
Sweet Chop,,,What type of clutch setup is that?
614cc? and 18hp? thats awful....whats the stroke on the cylinder? it best be HUGE!
if that was mine id put it on the road
Nice Ride,
if you got lights and got it registered could it be street legal?
0:34 sounds like me takin a shit
most small motor cycles dont have that big of an engine. damn.
Where, what kind, and how much did you have to pay for belt drive CVT transmission? I didn't know you could buy them big enough for an 18HP engine. Thanks man!

@goblue21450 Depending on materials and parts.... Anywhere from a couple hundred to a grand if you use trick billet parts etc.. plus the clutch setup.
I'd lose the torque converter and go with a real shiftable transmission. Other than that its real cool.
That thing sounds rad.
Why do I imagine I'm hearing George Thorogood's "Bad to the bone" in the background?Haha! I love it!
@acidangelster Thanks. I am going to build a Cafe bike this winter. I build one last year but sold it. I have a 73' Honda CB360 all torn up now.
May be used in a huge generator or a small roller compactor. Some industrial zero turn mowers use them too. I special ordered a comet industrial variable speed clutch / jack shaft assembly. I don't remember what model but it came out of a catalog at my buddies machine shop.
