    Thanks for the review, she is really showing some great colours now. Leaf burn is an issue with all heat sources if they can touch the lamp. It may be more so with this type of lamp as the energy contained within the photons is able to bury to a far greater distance than other heat sources. Its the same with shade dwelling plants that become over heated in the garden. I guess we will learn the positives and limitations over time and adjust our enclosures accordingly. :-) :-) The most important thing is, that this form of energy is able to get deeper into the animal, no matter the species and as such the animal has a far greater level of usable energy available to it :-)

    Even though this is a little off topic, I just want to say a big thank you for how much your videos have helped me! My local pet store had a leopard gecko and they’ve never had one before at their shop and it definitely looks like he is underweight so I was looking at him and I decided to bring him home with me because he is already an adult and he is almost 17 years old I definitely didn’t want him spending the rest of his life in a pet store so I decided to take home home. And your videos have helped me immensely before I didn’t know much about leopard geckos, and now I feel like an expert thanks to you! You have become my favorite TH-camr and you never disappoint! Love you! ❤️

    Great video! Very good information too! I don’t use this for my crestie, but I do use a little ceramic heat emitter even though my room is usually close to 70 F. I just heat a little corner around 80 and the rest stays cooler and he likes it! I do use this product with my leopard gecko though and he loves it! I’m so thankful you sent it to me because he uses it all the time:)

    How many degrees is your viv set to and whats the difference with the room temp? I'm looking into a heat source and had my eyes on a Ceramic bulb, but this Deep Heat Projector does look nice, I'm just a bit worried it doesn't have enough output. (I haven't got my cresty yet, just my plants for the viv and I know roomtemperatur in winter gets to 14°C, which is too low).

    Help!! I just got a rescued leopard gecko, about 3 years old who was very ignored and she isn’t very interested in being held or socializing. Do I have to take the same steps with her as I would a juvenile for socializing or are there some extra steps I should take?
    I also realized she has MBD as she just startwanna s showing signs, and I will start treating her when the supplements arrive from amazon. I thought the calcium D3 would be enough but I’m super wrong and I would like to know any tips and tricks I could do??
    Thank you!!

    • @fionashepley478
      @fionashepley478 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Peanut Gallery a 2-5% tube UVB light would be very beneficial in this case (if you get one don’t use artificial d3)! Also make sure he gets multivitamins. Good luck!

    My leopard gecko has laid two eggs! I didn’t know what to do so I looked it up and apparently if they have red circles then they are fertile! Both of them have those red circles! I called a friend that keeps leos and she said that for now just put them in an empty cricket tub with some kitchen role in and put it on top of the substrate where the heat mat is? Is there any advice that you could give me? I don’t want to breed her so this might be the only real chance I get at her laying fertile eggs! I don’t have an incubator but if I need to get one then I will!

    • @fionashepley478
      @fionashepley478 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      JOLIV3R is she housed with a male? Leopard geckos have never been known to lay fertile eggs without a male

    • @JOLIV3R
      @JOLIV3R 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fiona Shepley no she’s on her own but as I only got her about a month or so ago, my guess is that she bred with one of the other geckos that she was housed with! (Unfortunately she was housed with quite a few when I bought her) and they can hold sperm for about a year! I suppose it’s a compliment that I’m doing something right but I wasn’t exactly ready for something like that lol

    • @fionashepley478
      @fionashepley478 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @ArcadiaReptile
      @ArcadiaReptile 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is quite true, it is a perfect choice alongside your lighting for a leo. Leopard Geckos advice is great. These lamps work by firing photons of IR-A and IR-B downwards from the lamp. These are similar to the wavelengths that are provided by our sun, as such wild development dictates that these are the wavelengths that are required to properly energise the animal. When seated under the lamp the energy within the photons penetrate deep into the dermis where they deliver their energy. As such, this energy is more 'bioavailable' than standard heating. However, these photons do not waste their energy by releasing into air, rather they deliver their energy into 'things'. This is all about heating a black body radiator if you remember that from Physics. The energy from the DHP will pass into the stone or branches and substrate which will the reflect and convect the energy back into the enclosure via standard convection. This is IR-C warming the air.

      Ah okay :) we got her last Sunday and I have a heat mat but it wasn't producing enough heat for the ambient air temp, so I got a nighttime heat bulb to help kick the heat up. It has done the job but the heat mat is on a stat and obv shuts off at a certain temp therfore not as in much use as it was before. Is this Ok for her as I want what's best for her to help her settle in easier. She seems a little timid in the vivarium but when she is out either on us or sat on the floor with us she seems more contempt and at ease. I have only seen her drink ones but she hasn't touched even one of her crickets that have been offered her and can't tell if she's had any meal worms. I took the mealworms away for a couple of days to see if it would spike her appetite for crickets but still no luck. Just after what's best for her and to make sure she is as comfortable as can be. Any advice and help is appreciated :)

    • @fionashepley478

      Could you share those tests with the Arcadia deep heat? Halogen lights get very Hot, the 500Watt Halogen Work Lights can cook food, plus Halogen lights give off harmful UV-C that isn't safe for direct eye contact. I use a Halogen Light portable table top cooker that makes the best Biscuits in 7 minutes or less. This is a new & great Technology & having UV-A & B re-explained as IR Infrared A which is near infrared & IR-B which lighting sources call it UV-B when Ultraviolet is below the visible light & Near Infrared is above. Seems to me some odd confusing /misleading by design going on. Unlike any of you I am researching Alternative Health tools & this is very interesting in that venture, but of course I am the only one who fathoms this. Like Red L.E.D. 660 or 670 nanometer light..

      Jazz Schmidt unless she’s young (in which case a smaller tail is normal), it would be best to take her to an exotic vet ASAP. However, she could be ovulating, which sometimes causes them to lose weight :)

    hey i message you on Instagram about what is the best calcium for your leopard gecko !??

    • @fionashepley478
      @fionashepley478 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jason Carter it doesn’t matter whether it has d3 or not (no d3 in the tank though), and the rand doesn’t matter either. You can make your own from ground up cuttlefish bones, it’s much cheaper and in some cases free! Dust with calcium every other feeding and vitamins every three feedings :)

    Sahyu is a Rudy Rudester too. I thought that I failed at teaching her basic manners (like not pooping on someones leg ~>:^{ ) But I guess that Leopard Geckos are just sassmasters... Please don't let someone produce a robot that just sasses you. For anyone that sees this comment and is getting ideas; SASSMASTER 5000 IS A TERRIBLE IDEA THAT WILL NEVER SELL!!! Too late, I think I've doomed us all.
