Hey Cap. Sorry I haven't commented in a while. picked up Arma 3. Been enjoying and getting use to It. Tried out The T-45C Goshawk mod today. Carrier landings for me are smooth, when I don't miss the wires lol. Just letting you Know. Another great free mod. Thanks guys.
@@grimreapers I want to so bad Bro, Arma & Dcs. I ordered my Starlink internet about three weeks ago, & am waiting on them to send my Equipment. Then It On Bro :) Can't wait. The carrier tail strike may be due to having anti skid on. Most carrier based aircraft land without anti skid on carriers because it would stop the plane from rolling backwards.
those navy planes are designed to land without flare but not like that. 3 degree flightpath on aoa means about 650 feet/min vertical speed which they can handle. they cant handle your 5-6 degrees landings with huge vertical speeds
Hi Cap, thanks for all your videos. How did you ascertain the icls frequency? Googling this just talks about channels which is fine for say the F18 but no good if you have to dial in the frequency as with the T45.
I keep wrecking the front gear when taking off from the CVN-59, it just sits there for a second on max until it suddenly jumps forward, pulling the nose up before slamming it down again and continuing the catapult launch. Sometimes it survives, but most of the time it doesn't want to put the front gear up anymore. At times it even knocked me out briefly. I've checked that anti skid and the parking brake are OFF. Anyone else has this? I don't have supercarrier to check if it happens there too.
Having a few issues with this mod. #1, when starting the mission for the t45 it says the mission is newer than the editor and gets stuck on loading screen and have to manually close dcs. #2 on startup I get no indicator lights on the right after turning on batterpower or lights for engine startup, or any lights period it seems. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you : edit, I also do not own any of the carriers, am I able to do the mission or practice like in the video? How do I get around using the carrier without buying it? Lol
@@protonnumber8867 I’m not sure about real carrier landings as I’ve never done one, but you are right in that carrier landing is much more, let’s say aggressive:). However, for a landing on a normal runway, a 3 degree approach is normal. If you land at 6 degrees and at the same speed, the rate of decent is doubled and the impact increased dramatically. At 120kts and 3 degrees, the RoD is about 600 fpm, at 6 its 1200, which is high. The OLS ball is set at 3.5 degrees (happy to be corrected here), so at 120kts, RoD should be around 700 fpm. Therefore, 1200 is high and I feel a little flare for the runway landing would have nice and would stopped any pax from crapping themselves 🤣. But, I never flown the T45 or onto a carrier, so I’m mixing knowledge with guesses. Happy to be put straight by those who know better.
Rate of descent on landing for the Hornet is around 700-750 fpm, can’t see the T45 going down much harder. So I would say you’re correct, based on my knowledge.
Cap could you guys do an explanation vid on the modules that have a Gun Camera option in special options? As well as the L-39's SARPP mode? Just finished my collection of all the available modules and noticed some have options similar, might be interesting and useful for content creation purposes.
@@InkDropFalls Then fly another aircraft. The T-45 is a principle trainer intended to familiarise pilots with the intricacies of a jet, before they eventually progress onto a 'frontline' fighter. There is little to no point firing live munitions from a trainer aircraft, considering they will most likely never be engaged in combat - better to practice weapons delivery with the F-15/16/18 etc. Other trainers in DCS are capable of utilising live ordnance, but that's a very 'what if' scenario... If we take the RAF's Hawk T.1 for example, that could be fitted with a 30mm ADEN gun pod, rocket pods and a selection of unguided bombs, but that was only if the aircraft needed to be pressed into action as a reserve if the Cold War turned 'hot'. It's definitely cool that we have armed trainers in DCS, but 99% of the time an air force will not arm them (there are a few exemptions, of course).
Go to [path to your DCS Saved Games folder]\Mods\aircraft\VNAO_T45\Input\keyboard and open up that default.lua with a decent editor like Notepad++ (if you don't have it, get it!), go to line 50 (which is the end of the "--- Control ---" block, just for clarity) and add this: {pressed = iCommandPlaneLeftRudderStart, up = iCommandPlaneLeftRudderStop, name = _('Aircraft Rudder Left'), category = _('Flight Control')}, {pressed = iCommandPlaneRightRudderStart, up = iCommandPlaneRightRudderStop, name = _('Aircraft Rudder Right'), category = _('Flight Control')}, Repeat with the default.lua in the joystick folder at line 62 if you want to map that to your HOTAS devices. You'll find them in the category "Flight Control" named "Aircraft Rudder Left" and "Aircraft Rudder Right" respectively. Haven't tried it, but these are the default commands for the rudder on keystrokes in other modules, I just guess it will work here as well. You might have to repeat this after updating the mod when it gets patched, unless they add it themselves.
Happened to me the first few times. I suspect it's due to aircraft being far lighter than an F/A-18/F-14, and so I felt the aircraft almost 'float' above the wires... Perhaps ground affect came into play? Either way, I've found a slightly more aggressive flare than usual helps.
THANK YOU, I thought I was just being a klutz, 4 good looking approaches, been in a Hornet or Tomcat, ACE'd it, well maybe not, as they say, If at first you don't suceed....carrier pilot is not for you....well in my case I'm FIRED! , Great fun, teaches spatial awarness, concentration,,,,grab another beer,,,,concentration etc.
@@pilotguy1141 had the same issue. turns out my brakes were backwards which i barely noticed other than some screeching during taxi, but I never noticed because it would taxi fine. Regardless, once I swapped axis' it trapped just fine. (If brakes on when trapping, you'll probably blow a tire in real life, but if you didn't it would raise the hook point and I think the sim is smart enough to do the latter).
Because runways are long enough to allow the jet to accelerate fully under its own power. The pilot is responsible for determining that the runway is long enough to facilitate both takeoff and landing based on charts in the aircraft manual prior to using the airfield.
bc why should there be. there is enough space and a catapulte lunch puts a lot of stress on the airframe, thats also the reason why an f18 that is stationed on a career needs much more maintenance then one that is staitioned on an air base.
I'd like that, even though the old DCS Hawk was a bit of an ugly duckling, I'd rate it as an essential trainer for a flight-sim to have. More so now we're getting the Typhoon...

Yes they definitely need to work on that HUD, the green text is pretty unreadable at any brightness setting.

As far as mods got this one is easily going straight to the "mandatory recommend" list for new players.

It would be awesome if the T-45 had a tutorial in-game and with you narrating it!

Hey Nice video! Is that the beta version? because my T45 is only working well with the beta

@Bob what if i need training with guns ..

Unfortunately they didnt put a "Rudder Left and Rudder Right" option in controls. So for someone like me who doesnt't use them this mod is useless!
