Swami says (at 9:03) that Aathma (Limitless or Pure Consciousness) has to be known by experience only, not intellectually. Experience can only bring another experience (in time-space) but never the Self-Knowledge. Any limited effort cannot "bring" an unlimited result. You are already Limitless Consciousness but have forgotten. In order to realize or remember (re-member), one has to get rid of all the (wrong) notions that one is limited. Vedantha is not intellectual knowledge "of" the Pure Consciousness as Pure Consciousness is not conceptual. However, Vedantha/Self-Inquiry is the path that is purely intellectual that will eliminate all wrong notions with the right notion that one is already the Limitless Consciousness (which itself disappears leaving you as you always were, free of concepts and free of experience). Remember that "I am a limited self" is also intellectual. Intellect is needed to negate/correct intellect. A thorn is needed to take away another thorn which is then discarded. Thank you!
