Love your reviews, Willington! Please help me sort out couple of these confusions. So, I'm pretty much into debate, amongst these speakers, Boombox 2 and Hyperboom. Definitely I'm looking for a clear, crispy and most natural sound but then the bass at lower frequencies shouldn't be compensated. Which one do you think can deliver better my needs? let's not bring their prices to the decision! Secondly, it seems here in India, the Hyperboom has gone out of stock, and can't expect it to arrive back, in anytime within 3 months. So, if I go with Boombox 2(owing to its availability better ) , does that seems compensating with the sound quality in any manner? Or should I be biased enough to hold on, until the thing arrives back? Third, does the Boombox 2 really does drop the vocals and that sound signature, around higher volumes, say 80 percent? And lastly, if I were to listen, around 50 percent volume, which one would you suggest to vibe out? Do, you think if I won't make it to Hyperboom, there'd be lot regret about?
Lower mids on the sony... highs are good on both, deeper bass on the boombox... pretty impressive for the boombox to beat a bigger, newer speaker from sony.
Hearing this on a handheld bluetooth speaker I could actually feel the bass difference. And surprisingly the 500 felt good with the amount of bass it had. Honestly it feels like The 500's sound has more oxygen in it. Better quality in my opinion. I'm trying to decide which I want... the 500 or the 700.
Because all the reviewer here in TH-cam they thought louder is better they don't care enough with the sound quality, sony has an app where you can definitely enhance more the sound quality of the speaker based on your preference and JBL lacked

"sounds more forward" is just code for "too much midrange". its a common tactic that's used because human ears are more sensitive in that range so its perceived to be louder.
in matter of sound experience jbl wins it sounds much better and clearer with a nice and smooth base...sony sounds good and it's louder but the sound it's not that clear like jbl.

I think most likely the JBL has a little bit deeper tone in the bass. Other than that both speakers almost sounds the same. The part where I noticed bass notes was from the song 3:02 Triumph.

It depends on the EQ... BB2 bass can be adjust to minimum to be the same like Sony becoz Sonys style doesnt focus only on the bass part...Sonys clarity is admirable with all the highs and lows instruments and vocals which includes the bass part...that is Sony's sound clarity where as JBL s styles focused more on the bass part but as i said it depends on the listeners preferences u can always adjust the EQ of BB2 to lower the bass and emphasizd the vocals and mids which JBL does not focus...for me both are great speakers its just depend on the preferences of the listener...

I have the xp500. And it's bass is so heavy!! In bigger rooms it is fine, but in my bedroom with 17m² it is just too much and I can't turn the bass down :/ (I can feel the vibration on the floor and walls at 50% volume)

Amalzing JBL BOOMBOX 2 ROCKS!! Sony uses MegaBass to overcome the jbl's bass. At maximum volume you can hear the difference, sony has serious issues to handle the bass, but on the other hand ✋ Jbl is cool and has much more quality at high volume. JBL BOOMBOX crashes Sony into small 🥧🥧 pieces. No comparison, Jbl weighs the half and it has better quality sound.
Sony wins on clarity. Sony also offers great base but not overpowering base like JBL. Anyone wanting more than a party speaker should go for the Sony. If people only care about base go for the JBL.
