      Or a towel or you can place a tee two inches IN FRONT of where you would brush your club after making contact. This is what my pga coach had me do as a drill

    Tried it today on the range (using a sleeve of balls instead of the 2x4) and the improvement in my ball striking was incredible! Thanks for this drill!!

    From the flailing I see on the range, golfers that chunk are simply not getting to their lead side early enough. Shift that pressure to the lead side as you go back to the top, then down and through. Moneyball.

    There was mention about releasing it sooner, was this because the board ensured a better angle of attack? I feel like I’ve done the towel drill a bunch and felt like I held my release as to not chunk it.

    Just put a coin a couple inches behind your ball. Or spray paint a line and focus only on hitting the line and or to the left of it in your downswing. Start with a chipping and pitching motion and do it until it’s consistent. Don’t go to a full swing until you can do this w a chip and pitch motion. Then work on doing it one handed. Especially left hand only for right handers
    The key is don’t go past a pitching motion until you have it down. If you can’t do that consistently you can’t do it on a full swing consistently.
    Full swing

    I was wondering at 2:37 min when you say you "feel you are releasing much sooner" Is that to create more of a descending blow on the ball and miss the board? Not sure I understand...

    I kinda do the same thing. I look to hit the ground about 6 inches in front of the ball after kinda feeling like I pause at the top of the backswing and then slide my lead shoulder forward and then release. If that make sense.

  • @magicmark8315
    @magicmark8315 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Your swing isn't right if you have to put a 2×4 on the ground to figure out your angle of attack. The chunk is a result of poor rotation and or early extension.

    • @Bergerac82
      @Bergerac82 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Or early release. Or casting. Or ineffective weight transfer. Or too much secondary axis tilt.
      There’s a hundred possible reasons for every swing fault. That’s why feel based drills like this can be so effective.
