You’re right, more teams should rely on getting a starting level QB with the last pick in the draft, that’s a very sustainable model that definitely wasn’t a fluke. 49ers are lucky as hell that Purdy panned out cause if not everybody involved in the decision to trade up for Lance is probably fired right now
Capitalizing on the fact that Billy is still too despondent to realize that even though he lost and the media was trying to downplay his team's achievements, every single team out there was gonna have to start looking at things differently. I can't remember who they ended up hiring instead, but I remember reading that he was instructed to follow a formula very similar to Billy's. So it's not that other teams WEREN'T starting to restructure, it's that nobody wanted to admit they were restructuring because it would mean admitting that Billy's way was better.
@@perrycarters3113 they hired Theo Epstein & won the world series in 2004. then the Cubs hired him to break their world series curse too. yes, he was working with Bill James in boston & i think a crew that was thinking the way Beane was thinking, and using alot of his methods. that A’s team gave them the initial blue print on how to put James’ studies into action
