Very clear and easy to follow; I've been using this knot for quite a while after watching this video; kudos to your presentation, the closeup camera work, and your verbal explanation!
Thank you for the video, fishing 60 years and never been able to achieve this successfully even after watching other videos. done it first time watching you and the clear instructions. Brilliant Greetings from the UK.
Awsome video! tied on 12 lb mono onto another lighter pound test line mono and worked with barely any error hands werent in the way like some other videos
This has become my go to and basically only knot for braid to fluoro, also for hooks or swivels with a single uni. Other knots I used were popping repeatedly under hard strikes or long runs with bull redfish. I'd retrieve a curly end at the swivel or hook where the knot had failed. I've never had this knot fail, the line breaks first. Plus, with little practice you can tie this quickly even in rough water. I wet the knot and clinch down the ends hard. When done right the tag can be clipped off nearly flush at that point as it won't slip.
I am missing my left thumb do to a forklift accident 25 years ago and I've never been able to tie this knot until following your video. Thank you so much
Another reason marrying a non-Florida girl was a bad idea idea. I should’ve have known when she never referred to my my hometown as Lakeland, instead, she calls it “The shithole where Jeff grew up.” So… the last few years has been Crappie, Shoal Bass, and Trout fishing. My knot tying for inshore fishing has been unused and lost. Being a recent cancer survivor, I’ve gotten the opportunity to kinda do whatever I want. Project- during radiation and chemo- Turn the Gheenoe into a Flats Boat. Goal- Fish for Snook, Redfish, Tarpon, Trout in the Intercoastal or the Everglades. I can’t believe how many knots I was tying as a 14 year old that I can’t even remember where to start! Thanks for the reminders and for some I hadn’t ever tried. Really helpful!
Congratulations on your journey and for beating it, and I am so glad this was able to help you re-learn some of your lost knowledge! I hope it works great and you slay ‘em out there on your flats Gheenoe! Thanks for the comment, and good luck and tight lines! 🤙
Thank you! It’s always a gamble as far as what people like… I try to ensure I explain enough so it’s understandable but not so much that it’s redundant! Thanks for watching! 🤙
I use this knot when tying fly fishing leaders. Vary the number of turns on a tag end to create a tapered knot. When tying braid to mono I find it's stronger if I tie the mono side first for some reason - not sure why though - perhaps the braid can cut the mono otherwise I'd the mono is thin eg 6lb
Interesting! I haven’t tried varying the number of knots, but that makes sense! Thank you for sharing!! My guess about the mono is just that it needs to be fully cinched down first so the thinner braid can’t slip through any of the loops and compromise the knot. But that’s just a guess!
I also do the varying turns, the larger line (fluoro in my case) gets less turns. Seems to work well, but I've not noticed a difference in tying 1 or the other 1rst. I'll have to try both ways a few times and see if can spot a difference.
This knot good for surf fishing- say tying a shock leader to your main line, as in will the know get hung up on the guides while casting? Or is this knot more useful for say being on a boat and just pitching your baits out or just dropping your baits down?
It depends-if you’re using really heavy line, sometimes the double uni can get caught up on your eyelets. If the line isn’t super heavy, it does just fine!
I came for the FG, I stayed for the rest of the knots, eyelets aren't the problem, it's the bail roller on a spinning reel that will give you grief, as you say casting I assume a spinning reel. FG looks like the best option if your leader is significantly bigger than your reel would normally allow. (40lb leader on a Shimano 4000 Thunnus because you are straylining on the rocks and you fish with the gear you have)
For me, I would rather use the FG knot at that size leader line. But, that doesn’t mean the double uni won’t work… it will depend if you need it to go through your eyelets, if you’re casting it or not, etc. Hopefully that helps some!
I think this knot can handle fish that size without problem. What size leader line are you working with? To me, that’s the bigger factor. If it’s really thick/heavy leader line, I find the FG is easier. If it’s something like 30lb braid to leader, I would be comfortable with the double uni.
some verbiage about the line being infront or above the other or being or below more often would be nice. i was following along but i lost you when your fingers covered the line so it was hard to see what was infront of what. maby don't use clear and use 2 contrasting colored lines with a second punched down 4 second shot of the motion with voice over
Sorry I lost you there--I'll certainly take your comments into consideration for the next one! It's always a balance between going slowly enough to demonstrate thoroughly but not so slow as to annoy people 😅 I'll try your suggestion next time!

Yours is the first explanation that mentions making a 6 with the line. That greatly simplifies remembering how to tie the uni. Thanks!

Good knot good video. I was about to throw all my equipment in the lake and go golfing, which i also suck at.
😂 hey, big same!

Hi...thank you I've looking for a tutorial for ages ...glad i found you as no good having all the gear if can't join a line to a leader😮
😂😂😂
Wait till you learn to make a Loop Portland Rig .....🥺🥺
Thanks for the clear explanation. These knots are so small that they go through the guides with no problem at all.
Thank you for the video, fishing 60 years and never been able to achieve this successfully even after watching other videos. done it first time watching you and the clear instructions. Brilliant Greetings from the UK.
The 6 is the visual I needed to get this knot done, thanks
Awesome, so glad that worked for you!
This was very helpful, I need to add more line onto my fishing reel but didn't know how to tie the lines together, thanks for the great video
Awesome, I’m so glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching!
Thx, best instructions on the Tube!! Keep up the great work. Slow and clear instructions. Loved it!!

Thank you! Could not have made a video more clear and easy to do.
Awesome!! I’m glad you found it helpful, thank you for the comment!! 🙏🤙
I take an 8" or so line and do half of this to make a bobber stop! This is awesome and helpful, thank you
I also use this for a bobber stop, I didn’t even think to put that in the video! So glad you liked it, thanks for watching and commenting!
man you gotta "Hawk Tuah" that knot!
Ill really impress the fellas when I pull this knot out camping!
This was very simple and explained very well thank you my good sir!!
So glad it could help!

This was helpful. im going to California in two days and locked for a tie line to line. Thank you!
Awesome! I hope this works great for you! Tight lines out there! 🤙
Thank you, its very clear better than a lot of videos
Great video! All your knot tuts are super clear. Subbed!
Awesome! Thanks so much, I really appreciate that! I try to make them as clear and useful as possible. Thank you for watching!
As you will see on your loop knot video, this was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for showing this. I'll try it as this is easy and fast.
Awesome, I'm so glad I could help! Thanks a lot for watching and for commenting!
Thanks for making this video! Very helpful!
You’re welcome, I’m glad it was helpful!

You know you've tied a lot of knots when your mouth starts to water as you watch him pull on the knots for the first time.
😂💯

😂🤙 thanks for watching and for the sub!
"8 inches or so, is what I like to have" That's what she said!
Every time, I have to stop myself from saying it.
Thank you, when you said make a "6" it clicked for me
Don’t forget to wet the section in between both knots before pulling them together 👍🏻
Hey from a new sub.
Hey! 🤙 thanks for watching and subbing, man!
I'll take a double uni over an fg. It has never failed.
I use them both! Both greats knots, I just usually tie this one when the leader line is heavier than 30ish lbs!
Cool
Thanks for watching!
" 8" or so , is what I like to have" she said.

Was wondering if anyone noticed 😂😂😂

can u do it for heavy leader and heavy braid?
👍👍👍👍
🤙🙏
Is this as strong as the Albright knot ?
is it good for jigging ??
What's the nail function on the tool

What’s the knot for heavy mono to braid?
Sorry I haven't put out that video yet--hopefully very soon! But it's the FG knot!
What is the purpose of this? What is the advantage of tying 2 lines together rather than using a swivel? Newbie question Im sure
Sometimes you want a much longer leader line or top shot, and you won’t be able to reel a swivel through your eyelets. This is very handy for that! 🤙
In fishing, less tackle is often more. Some species of fish like stripers are smart enough to see the swivel and get spooked
Is this the same as a knot I learned a while back called a double barrel knot?
I believe the barrel knot is slightly different-but definitely a similar knot!
is this better than FG knot ?
Do I need to leave a tag end on mono because the knot keep slipping?
I would leave a small amount of tag end!
@@JustTheLip Thanks I'll give it a try
Queda mejor si uno tira todas las líneas a la vez para juntar y luego aprieta tirando de a dos líneas
is 60lb leader on 30lb braid to big for this knot?
For me, I would rather use the FG knot at that size leader line. But, that doesn’t mean the double uni won’t work… it will depend if you need it to go through your eyelets, if you’re casting it or not, etc. Hopefully that helps some!
“That’s what she said”
❤❤❤❤ko
Please 60lb fluoro 🙏🙏🙏
I know you get asked alot of time but would you really say this knot is a bad knot to take 22lbs fishes or less as compare to the FG?
I think this knot can handle fish that size without problem. What size leader line are you working with? To me, that’s the bigger factor. If it’s really thick/heavy leader line, I find the FG is easier. If it’s something like 30lb braid to leader, I would be comfortable with the double uni.

you talk too much !
loose the damn annoying music
Lose* the bad grammar.
Too much unnecessary talking!
Sorry you think so! It’s always a balance between explaining things thoroughly enough and not too much to be redundant. Thanks for the feedback!
Nice clear instructions but the background music/noise is distracting and unnecessary.
Terrible explanation
Sorry you didn't like it--was there something particularly unclear?
