I disagree. You upgraded the Maxx so it can have metal parts. Those upgrades alone make the car upwards of $600. Add to that the cost of a battery and charger, your looking at $700. This is without adding the widemaxx kit. Parts are cheap for the JLB and it will take a lot of broken parts to add up to $700.
I just want to add something. The slipper clutch on the jlb can be adjusted (like all slippers). If you untighten the nut a little it will wheelie less and slip more and with it have better handling. The tires on the max are alot better then those specific tires used on the jlb. Other then that, i liked the comparison and the fact that Joe drives like moste rc that aren't pro drivers. Nice video.. But cheetah is my favorite RC I own for over a year now. The thing I hate most with reviews people forget how to drive and flip the drag. Racing the Maxx I have dominated more then not. Cheetah mostly metal what I like. The big tires drag the cheetah some smaller and the thing fly's speed and air. Maxx is made better of course. Cheetah for me best car I still use daily basis. Powered down the punch with remote control and nothing can touch it. Thanks for video... Put 1/8 buggy tires on cheetah try that out. Change your RC life.
Considering we have had plenty of experience driving the Maxx stock, our opinion remains the same. Only difference is in the video you would see the maxx roll over more without the wide kit 😉😅
We have done upgrade videos in the past and break down the costs. For the spec comparison, we always compare stock to stock. The running part of videos there are sometimes upgrades but we let you know about them as we did here 😉 regardless the outcome doesn’t change and our message to the viewers doesn’t either 🍻

The 120A cheetah is 4s capable guys. I have 2 of them. The cheetah is not as durable as the maxx, but the cheetah is way more fun and relatively cheap to fix. I sold my maxx and kept my 2 cheetahs. You decide.
@C G maxx is just ok and the arrma 3s line has the most complaints in the rc group I'm in next to traxxas. I mostly run my teknos and 6s arrmas. Tekno is especially durable. The cheetah is still one of the most fun rcs I have and cheap to fix. It's not a basher*
crazy how long you can find parts for the main brands. Bought my dad some parts online for his original RC10 from the 80s, people are still parting out old broken cars to this day! The parts are gettin a little expensive but even after a car is out of production, parts will be floating around for years and years
@@jameshankssr466 I own losi arrma axial and traxxas RCs, the only real difference is price (traxxas more expensive), price of parts (horizon brands are more expensive), and part availability. they’re all tough as nails with equal quality. The only thing I break is stock electronics, they blow across all brands. Fanboyism gets ya nowhere as arrma isn’t better than any of the other companies, just particular RCs that shine from each company. Traxxas makes the best 4s, 6s, and 8s basher, arrma makes the best 3s and street bashers, losi makes some sweet off-road rigs like the DB pro. Onto downsides, Arrma has dogshit 8s/6s cars without heavy hop up investments, traxxas makes sorta garbage cars under 4s (other than slash), and losi doesn’t really have any good bashers

I have both, my jlb cheetah is the extreme 120a 21101 and is faster than my maxx on 3s and 4s, also here in South Africa due to shipping the jlb cheetah landed was 490usd and traxxas maxx was 670usd. My cheetah has had lots of crashes and chassis still straight

So basically you ran a stock JBL vs a ungraded maxx fully gotcha, maxx has issues with always breaking bulkheads and servos on the maxx are complete trash tires on the mass are also garbage, I have 2 maxxes and 1 JBL and the JBL leaves a bigger smile on my face
hello, i'm from portugal and i have a very similar model to the cheetah, a vkar bisont v3, and at the time i bought it, for its price, i got it for 280 euros rtr, it was supposed to be a senton blx 3s, incredible car, and maybe even best car, but a little more expensive, I remember this cheetah model, which at the time I could get it for 320 euros , identical to the price of the senton blx , I think that suggested price is a bit exaggerated from 400 to 450 dollars or euros ,.. and of course a traxaxas is better, that's why it also costs more etc,.. however, these cars, in the price range I mentioned, do their purpose well and have a much lower cost of parts, it all depends on the price,.. I don't I would give 450 euros for a cheetah,.. the car is even good,..but there are others, I would prefer an armma blx 1.10 model,..ex: senton blx 3 s, even so, these cars being well used china also last and already they deserve fun and acceptable quality, my vkar bisont v3 still rolls, without any damage,..but, it is also true that sometimes it is preferable to give a little more and have something durable, in the case of traxxas, practically lifetime,...lol
I really wish they would have put in the fact that the jlb cheat is 80 amp can be had for 260 and the 120 amp version can be had for 289 and 120 amp version if you put a 19 tooth pinion on it put a 4S battery in it and run 1/8 scale tires and loosen the slipper clutch like one guy said you'll find that the jail be cheated is much closer in comparison then what you guys are saying plus you should have added to the fact that the battery and charger is another $150 so it's $300 difference

Good review, the Maxx is such an awesome truck. If you're having problems with the spur gear breaking, try taking out half of the center diff oil (it should be balled up into 4 clumps), and refilling with 10k oil.
Also when you change your spur, check the cush drive damper, you both owner the Maxx for sometime already, the rubber part of the cush drive might be done, that's might be why you have drive train problem.
And most people are saying that the Traxxas is double the cost of the jlb cheetah so I guess if you crash your jail be cheetah you won't be walking away you'll just go get your other brand new one and start running that

The jlb cheetah is a complete turd. Breaks way too easy. I got the 120 amp version when it was like $330. After buying the optional center diff i spent the same amount on the Redcat MT10E and its a much more reliable rig. Definitely not as fast though. Y'all should do a comparison video of these 2 trucks and add a 3rd for fun. The original Redcat Kaiju!
Maybe add a fourth truck as well. The Team Associated Rival Mt 10. Upgrade the arms to RPM and it's pretty much indestructible and I'm pretty sure the speed of it is comparable.
If you're stuck with a budget, just keep your eyes open for rollers on ebay. You can find plenty 1/8 rollers for about $100. Stick a nice 4S motor, esc and servo in it for another $100 and you got yourself a nice build for just $200. You'll also learn new wrenching skills so when shit breaks, you already know how to fix it.
I've owned a MAXX and currently own a 21101 JLB Cheetah, E-REVO 2.0, and a custom WLToys 144001. I can honestly say that the MAXX is a nasty all out basher; however, it tends to roll over quite easily when turning at higher speeds. The Cheetah is faster than the MAXX on 4S and handles better on flat surfaces. However, the JLB Cheetah is a very light basher. That said if you want to do some light bashing and parking lot speed runs I'd recommend the Cheetah. But if you want to go full on bashing anywhere I'd go for the MAXX.
I have the blue cheetah. It really is a monster. Really really fun when it is not broken. I bought multiple spares for just about everything that brakes. But it does break every time I drive it. So I just drive my xmaxx!!!
Wow I really got a deal on my JLB Cheetah 21101 120A for under $300 USD. It pays to watch listings and check them daily. 120A is also rated for 4s and is wicked!
I should of got a maxx but i went with a kraton 6s i absolutly love it. Its a monster but i keep blowing the front diff while my friend but a maxx around same time as i got the k6. But he only put a wide maxx on didnt break nothing yet.

I bought the e revo 2.0 as my first brushless RC a couple years ago for ~800 USD with batteries and charger and instantly regretted my purchase… because I spent almost a thousand dollars on a toy. Then I got home and ran it andhaven’t regretted it since 😅 my rc fleet has expanded by a couple thousand more dollars since then with plans for more 🤪
@@V8chump Igor a roller cheetah about a year ago for about $175. I fitted a hobbywing 120a ESC and surpass motor. It's a great machine for the money but have left the hobby there. The big brand cars are just too much money in the UK.

I have both... Wished I did not waste time with the Cheetah. For bashing you will easily spend enough money on parts to get to the maxx cost and will have done a lifetime worth of wrenching
Great review team and loving the channel. I’m looking to buy a bashed truck but getting lost in all of the different options, as completely new to this. You mention at the end that you will be doing a review of slightly cheaper options to the Maxx so looking forward to seeing that.
Stock for stock next time, the maxx was severely up graded so cost a lot more than you quote. I suspect stock to stock the maxx is not very durable and handling would not be that great.
The spec breakdown/comparison is all stock and the price reflects those facts. I can tell you from loads of expierence driving the maxx stock, that its still significantly more durable than the JLB and still handles ok. Infact the day before filming, we ran in to a guy with a stock maxx at the same location which I drove around and went great!

Here in Denmark I can order the Cheetah for about 321 USD(Banggood) or the Maxx for 748 usd(Cheapest local hobby shop)... That's a insane difference.

Your maxx cost alot more with the upgrades. You should compare stock vs stock. Anything else is a useless comparison.

I've invested so much money into my Cheetah I could have bought two Maxxes. Cheetah killed the fun of the hobby for me.

Yeah this feels like a marketing op. Most hobbyists can't spend $1,200 for a Maxx with a wide arm kit, Proline tires, spektrum battery and charger.

I got my jlb cheetah for 379 rollers but it was the 120amp version which is wicked and I've had it about a year and I've only broke a couple small parts on it
So the JLB is currently on sale on banggood for $289.99 for the 120A version, does that change the outcome of this video?

The jlb cheetah is a complete turd. Breaks way too easy. I got the 120 amp version when it was like $330. After buying the optional center diff i spent the same amount on the Redcat MT10E and its a much more reliable rig. Definitely not as fast though. Y'all should do a comparison video of these 2 trucks and add a 3rd for fun. The original Redcat Kaiju!
Maybe add a fourth truck as well. The Team Associated Rival Mt 10. Upgrade the arms to RPM and it's pretty much indestructible and I'm pretty sure the speed of it is comparable.

If you're stuck with a budget, just keep your eyes open for rollers on ebay. You can find plenty 1/8 rollers for about $100.
Stick a nice 4S motor, esc and servo in it for another $100 and you got yourself a nice build for just $200. You'll also learn new wrenching skills so when shit breaks, you already know how to fix it.
Sometimes you can get them rtr for $100 lol I'm the lowball guy that people sell to a week after they post it for sale and need fast cash lol 😆

Maxx is my go to RC. Out of the 12 I own Maxx is my favorite 👍 I would recommend buying it if you are looking into it.

I've owned a MAXX and currently own a 21101 JLB Cheetah, E-REVO 2.0, and a custom WLToys 144001. I can honestly say that the MAXX is a nasty all out basher; however, it tends to roll over quite easily when turning at higher speeds. The Cheetah is faster than the MAXX on 4S and handles better on flat surfaces. However, the JLB Cheetah is a very light basher. That said if you want to do some light bashing and parking lot speed runs I'd recommend the Cheetah. But if you want to go full on bashing anywhere I'd go for the MAXX.

I have the blue cheetah. It really is a monster. Really really fun when it is not broken. I bought multiple spares for just about everything that brakes. But it does break every time I drive it. So I just drive my xmaxx!!!

I should of got a maxx but i went with a kraton 6s i absolutly love it. Its a monster but i keep blowing the front diff while my friend but a maxx around same time as i got the k6. But he only put a wide maxx on didnt break nothing yet.
Couldn’t buy the Maxx when I saw how expensive it is in the UK. So glad I got a Kraton EXB :D
One thing you didn't say is how much you have spent upgrading your Maxx as that would make a difference.
Wouldn’t make a difference. Stock or upgraded Maxx still dominates the JLB in our opinion 😉🍻

Cheetah isn't cheap anymore. They used to be under $300 and the maxx in the UK is a ridiculous $825

I bought the e revo 2.0 as my first brushless RC a couple years ago for ~800 USD with batteries and charger and instantly regretted my purchase… because I spent almost a thousand dollars on a toy. Then I got home and ran it andhaven’t regretted it since 😅 my rc fleet has expanded by a couple thousand more dollars since then with plans for more 🤪
@@V8chump Igor a roller cheetah about a year ago for about $175. I fitted a hobbywing 120a ESC and surpass motor. It's a great machine for the money but have left the hobby there. The big brand cars are just too much money in the UK.
@@51im wow that is a good price for a rig like that, do you know if there’s any way you can import RCs from Asia? Not sure how much it’d be to import but I see people in hong Kong getting even lower prices than the U.S so even if it’s a couple hundred to import you’d probably still save a couple hundred at the end of the day 🤷🏼♂️
I've had my maxx over 1 year thrashed it hard.only broke 1 drive shafts and 1 pinion.i run metal gears

I have both... Wished I did not waste time with the Cheetah. For bashing you will easily spend enough money on parts to get to the maxx cost and will have done a lifetime worth of wrenching

Great review team and loving the channel. I’m looking to buy a bashed truck but getting lost in all of the different options, as completely new to this. You mention at the end that you will be doing a review of slightly cheaper options to the Maxx so looking forward to seeing that.

Stock for stock next time, the maxx was severely up graded so cost a lot more than you quote. I suspect stock to stock the maxx is not very durable and handling would not be that great.
The spec breakdown/comparison is all stock and the price reflects those facts. I can tell you from loads of expierence driving the maxx stock, that its still significantly more durable than the JLB and still handles ok. Infact the day before filming, we ran in to a guy with a stock maxx at the same location which I drove around and went great!
