I got stuck in the middle of the diy cause nobody explained abt the little rubber o ring that comes with filter . And I finally got it wiht other videos that it’s not required for 2014 f10 versions.
My good people, we need to change the way the WORLD thinks... Instead of saying, "We need to DIY this or that?" We NOW need to say, "We need to Mike Hidalgo this or that." lol
Mike, I'm faced with BMW wanting to replace my 2014 X50i N63TU engine for smoke at idle failing CA smog reqmts. I prefer to replace the known bad valve stem seals in the car using the AGA tool kit. Whose seals should I use, BMW OE or Mahle aftermarket fluoroelastomer.
@@PIP_SLUHT1900 lmao I worded that wrong. I meant it as in for the thickness of the oil. You don’t want it to be too thin in the hot temps and not too thick in cold temps
@@valentinguillaume5036 lol yea that makes more sense. I have an n52 which I run 0w40 year-round with no problems. I also have an n63tu which I'm considering running 0w40 as well.

This was informative!! Thanks for uploading this
40nm or 25nm for the drain plug? You said 40nm but on the screen it pops up a 25nm?
25 for filter, 40 for plug.
Thx for another great video

Hey Gary what did you end up doing ? My 2011 550i has started to blow white smoke when idle and I have been freaking out.
$6K to have valve stem seals replaced at BMW Motorwerk in Dublin, CA. All good now.
Why did you opt for the 5w40 vs 0w40? Why not get the cold start benefits of the 0w40?
Cause 5w 40 is better for both cold and hot. Has a better temp range
@@valentinguillaume5036 5w is absolutely not better than 0w for cold starts.

@@PIP_SLUHT1900 the n63 runs on the hot side so you don’t want too thin of an oil.
