be aware of the coils, the original ones for BMW are with the white cap on the top of the coil, the black ones are aftermarket and are not so good especially if your car is tuned!
I own the 2014 528i with M Sport kit supercharged twin turbo engine. Bought it brand new and never experienced an issue at all except that you have to change the engine mount after 5 years because you will start to hear some noise when shifting the gear from N to D but changing the engine mount fixed the issue completely. Sensors and everything is great on this car.
I have 535i M Sport only issue I've had was the valve cover gasket leaking oil. I replaced it and also replaced the charge pipe because they're known to bust. besides that I've had no issues out of the car so far. They're great cars you have to drive them and not baby them
That doesn't sound too bad at all. I've been pretty lucky with mine as well (knock on wood), no major issues. I've put 40,000+ miles on it so far and I do NOT baby it at all.
My 2015 550ix is at 45k miles. No real issues yet. Just got a route 66 extended warranty up to 120k for 3 grand. Hoping they'll come through when something goes. Oil changes every 5k should be considered a must do.
I’m jealous of the m sport and LEDs! When I want buying mine almost 3 years ago those were super rare and at least 8k more expensive! Enjoy your sweet ride and thanks for subscribing!

@@SimpleCarGuy if you want to save your brakes, turn the DSC OFF by holding the Dynamic Traction Control button for 5 seconds. Downsides are that you obviously need to then be able to drive the car yourself without electronic assistance (abs still works) and if you turn cruise control on, the DSC goes on again, it also goes on again after every startup. This makes a pretty big difference on how fast your brake pads and discs wear. I don't recommend this to people who don't know how to drive without electronic aids. This applies to both RWD and xDrive models. Another tip i can give is to always turn the start&stop feature OFF when you start the car, it's just completely unnecessary wear on your starter motor, your engine and your turbochargers. Fuel and oil are cheap, turbochargers, engines and starter motors are not.

This video was very informative. I have a question because my son bought a 2013 or 2014 550i M? with 100k and shortly after the timing chain slipped. How much will this repair cost and is it possible to do yourself with proper instructions?
Issues with mine (f11, 330k km, 2011): headlights module was corroded, water in another headlight, the right back inner backlight led cluster was blinking (needed to be replaced), lock for the boot door stopped working, rear air bumper collapse, semering on cluch was leaking two times. But when you drive it, you excuse it everything
Glad to see a video about these cars! Mine is a 2011. So far, I’ve replaced ignition coils, battery (it had to be programmed to the car), starter replaced, oil leak at oil filter housing, belt tensioner, and now needs a new radiator.
How long have you had the car and which engine do you have? I think that would help people in the future. Thanks for providing the info. Honestly doesn’t sound too bad if the car has a good amount of miles. Also, you can program the battery yourself with one of these instead of paying the dealer: Autel AP200: amzn.to/2Sr8lOd

Only thing I think you missed was they did change the engine of the 535i in the LCI models. The LCI models came with the Electronic Waste Gate (EWG) & pre LCI came with the Pneumatic Waste Gate (PWG). The EWG models make a little more power when modded.
@@rollydoucet8909 I had many problems with it. The turbo coolant lines melted due to the extreme heat of the V-design of the twin scroll turbos. The fuel pump also simultaneously failed AND cylinder head assembly valves. This was a certified purchase in 2018 with only 26k miles. Certification expired and its almost like the car sensed it. Repairs of $5 to 6k USD. I traded it in before absorbing that cost. I only had to pay the fuel pump for $1700. I will never own another BMW unless its leased or under warranty. These cars are amazing to drive but extremely unreliable. I have learned the hard way . It was a very very costly two years of ownership.

Hello. I’ve replaced the clock spring with new one in my f10 bmw. I Checked all connections they are ok. But the paddle shifters behind the steering are not working !!! Any suggestion ??
I haven’t had any experience with this, but I believe you need to clear the fault codes and perform the steering angle sensor calibration using a BMW scan tool.
Just purchased the 2016 535i 55,000 miles 3 days ago. In the shop now at BMW because a light came on Battery Not Charging. Pulley belt failed, drive belt was torn which made the alternator not charge the battery. So far $1644.00 to repair and I’m out of town traveling. Thank goodness the dealership I purchased it from is going to pay by credit card to repair this failure. Glad I found a BMW dealership that gave me a loaner for the night. My next BMW will be under 50,000 miles when I purchase it.
Hi SimpleCarGuy, Thank you for this video. I am in the process of looking at F10 5s right now and your video helped cement my desire for a 535i. I also have a dk blue met/tan Z4 (E85)! Thanks! +1!

I am looking at 2011 bmw 535i with 56k miles, it looks very good inside and out. Though the engine components look all good(and the dealer said everything is good) DO you think its worth getting?
Every time I see these videos it makes me never want to buy one of these cars I've never heard of cars with having so many problems I had a Honda for 140.000 miles and didn't have one issue
How mechanically skilled are you? You will have to do a good amount of maintenance on a vehicle with that many miles. N55 is a good engine, but after 100k miles, lots of little things to replace. Maybe I should do a N55 video!
I recently purchased the 2011 535xi & I have a leaking oil pan issue. What do you suggest I do to prevent the leaking oil pan when I get it fixed is there a part that’s more reliable than bmw’s 😂
Max the Maltese dog you never know, but your best chance is to get a car that has records of maintenance. Pre purchase inspections could also help to find any existing issues.
Ram D I test drove the 535i . Excellent drive . The 528i is even good too . Either one of these cars are reliable . Unless you want ALOT of power and are willing to sacrifice ALOT of maintaining $ for the car , go with the 550i .
I have a 2012 535i and it currently has 170k miles, no major repairs yet! Anybody know what I’m most likely gunna have to replace major wise soon since it has high mileage?
I’ve owned 3 5 Series F10. 2 2013 and 2014 528i and 2016 535i . I like BMW, never had a problem with them. Did all the maintenance myself. Now I moved on to bigger things. Own a Maserati Ghibli. Much nicer, exhaust is awesome and a real head turner. BMW doesn’t stand out anymore. You see them everywhere.
I’ve only had the problems I mentioned in the video, so most of the time it’s a very reliable car. The reason I like F10 is because it’s so understated. The 550 is fast as hell, but looks like a normal sedan, you don’t get Nissan 350z trying time race you.
I wouldn’t change the chain unless there are signs of wear such as metal in oil, movement in chain, unusual ticking, ‘slapping’ noise etc. Change your oil at least 5k miles or if you drive in the city a lot every 3-4K and you should be fine. Thanks for watching and good luck!
is there a question hidden there? regardless, 12 year old car could/should be expected to have some issues. Cause and severity of problems is depends on your luck :)
I have a 2010 528i with a n53 engine. You dont have that over there. I didnt want the 535 because i dont want turbo's . Its a jahreswagen from bmw management so almost every option available is on it. Great car, no issues at all.
2010 528xi here. Just found out it has a transmission 4F85 CODE which is the eclutch bushing on the intake shaft. I'm mortified. I'm a woman, so when the mechanics see me coming, they know they can say whatever they want and I can't fight them. So I'm trying to do tons of research. They're automatically saying it's going to be a $3500 *minimum* to do rebuilt transmission. I was quoted $5000 by someone else for a transmission. I have had this car for exactly 4 years and it happened *immediately after* a brake job. I would swear the mechanic messed with it because when I picked it up from getting front brakes done he mentioned I'll need a transmission flush soon "due to some minor hesitation." There was minimal sluggishness when accelerating in first gear, but absolutely nothing abnormal that you couldn't "blow out" by premium gas and a little harder driving (I am a very gentle driver.) Within 2 weeks, the car suddenly started premature shifting, popping into gears, etc so I took it to a BMW tech who does it out of his house, and he said it's pouring fluid. Sure enough, I checked my driveway and there was a huge stain. Called the guy back and told him to plug in the scanner and he said he didn't need to because the problem was "obviously" caused by the leak. I made him scan it anyway and that's when he found the 4F85 code, and I started researching on my own while he fixed the leaking transmission pan. I got the car back and it *wasn't fixed!* Now I am furious, because he ignored the code and blamed that leak. But how do both problems arise out of nowhere??? Called the first mechanic and he said "wasn't leaking when it was here. Don't know what to tell you." 😡 I am a Christian and not a violent woman but let me tell you if I could figure out if he messed with this car, I'd make my life mission to make sure he never forgets my name. I have never heard of Transmissions having problems on these cars. Even transmission shops sound shocked. Have you ever heard of this issue? Either one of you?
@@SimpleCarGuy I'm now forced to give up, by the way. I am not paying that kind of money for a transmission so I'm going to sell it to pay off the balance and start over. I owned a 96' 328i in 2003- ran perfect for exactly 4 years until the engine caught fire one day due to "electrical wiring." Heartbroken, I sold it for parts. My next was a 2000' 528i, which I bought in 2007 and dealt with Vanos problems and minor issues, but it kept me going beautifully until I smacked a deer in 2012 and totaled it. Sold for parts. In 2013, my ex gave me a beaten on 2003 535i with the dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree, and someone had swapped out parts with the wrong ones and it looked like it was stripped, but it ran like a champ until 2017 when I finally got the 2010 528xi through a friend. This thing has run absolutely brilliantly and smooth, like a dream. I'm so upset about this transmission issue. But alas, as a typical stubborn German, I am determined to find now my 5th BMW. Can you give me your best recommendation for a model *prior to* 2015? I'm not going to be able to afford anything newer. I'm open to 3 series, 5 series or X5. It sounds like you really know your later models. I love the one in the video but I'm sure not going to need 550. I want one that takes bumps not so hard (I despise hitting bumps hard), smooth driving, a little attitude, and for God's sake the fewest problems possible. I *love* the look of yours. I'm depending on you! 🥰
Just got rid of my 2011 528i, had to do an engine replacement, the constant oil leak issue from the valve cover gasket and finally the hard shifting transmission was the final blow. I absolutely loved the driving experience but the old f10 model cars can be a money pit. Once you hit 100k miles expect major problems with BMW
Did you have to replace the engine because of the valve cover leak? It doesn't make a sense to swap the engine, but I could be wrong. You're right about the 100k, it's not that the cars go bad all of the sudden, it's just that many major services come up around that time and no one wants to pay up for them.
Whats your opinion on a 2014 bmw 550i m sport reliability ? Witt 50k miles . Are the 2014 versions reliable ? Heard they smoke a lot from the exhaust that’s what’s always stopped me from getting a 2012-2016 version :/
I wouldn't get an older 550i, but 2014 is a great car all things considered. I've had mine for almost 4 years now and no smoking issues at all. They updated the engine in 2014 to the n63TU from the regular n63 version, so lots of issues have been fixed and you get a boost of power (extra 40HP). The worst issues I've heard people have was the valve seals needing replacing.. but that's not pretty rare.
Okay I’ll try to find a 2014 with low mileage or else ill go with the 2013 it still has some good features as you said just not much like the older ones i don’t really mind the car is still great
I own a 2015 BMW 535i and I love it no issues at all at 68k miles, but it's pissing me off an annoying me that there are few rattles. 1 from the driver door, 1 from the sunglasses holder/HUD area (drivers side dashboard) and is like a buzzing sound, and 1 from the passenger door or passenger side of dashboard... lmk if anyone else has rattles and buzzing noises like these?
I only had 1 rattle noise and that was right by the passenger's seat below the seatbelt. I put a little bit of rubber between the pieces and it hasn't rattled since. Of course it shouldn't be a thing on an expensive car like this, but at least it was an easy fix.
Thank you for video. I am from Brasil and I have one BMW F10 550 2011 since 2018 and everything is good with my car. I like so much it. Congratulations; Arbage
That's the beauty of TH-cam, no one reads the already answered questions. I don't mind answering as it refreshes my knowledge on the cars and keep me current.
So is there a 550i 2007 model? hows the engine for 2007? is valve stamp seal also an issue for 2007 550i? how can i avail the customer care package for 2007 550i. i want to purchase 550i at 250kms, the asking is $5,000, i think its too much, what do you think?
Should be a great car. Of course it’s almost 10 years old at this point, so watch out for any leaks under the engine/transmission area and check the trunk for any moisture. Just to be safe get a pre purchase inspection.
I have a 2011 f11 535i and I’ve had quite a lot of issue with it. Multiple oil leaks, from old gaskets. Oil pump and oil cooler along with the air duct cracking. Would recommend getting an aluminium charge pipe as it’s a common problem with the stock plastic one cracking. I’ve got mine arrive soon. That being said...i love it when it on the road!! 😂 oh also just had a crack in the alloy, in process of getting the run flats off. I’m hoping I have done enough maintenance now and can finally enjoy it 😬 Edit: oh and the oil leak around the oil filter house caused the alternator belt to slip off and get chewed up 🙄
Thanks for the tips, i have a 2013 550i & this is by far the best car i owned very powerful smooth ride with great handling when i first test drove it i fell in love so i purchased it used, i went through hell a few times when i had the coolant leaks & misfires, but overall this 550i is a beast ride, my only concerns is when it hits 100k miles thats when the real maintenance will come, & you mention about the valve stems issue on what mileage do you think that can happen?
It's a really nice car, no doubt! The valve stems are kind of mystery as far as I'm concerned. My buddy had his replaced at like 38k miles under warranty when the car started smoking like crazy. Others have put 150k miles on it and no such issues. Dont let her starve of oil and hopefully it won't happen to you.
Hard to tell without being in the car, but it sounds like it would be the lower ball joint or even an intermedia steering shaft. You can jack the car up and use a pry bar to see if any of the suspension parts are moving or clunking.
Do the 100k maintenance every 75k miles and you are fine. Also just keep a keen eye out for any other problems via knowledge from research on the N55 5 series platform. Listen, look, learn ect. These cars are amazing and a technological marvel.
Found a super clean 2012 550i Xdrive, it’s been kept up with pretty well, & the service records show no major problems, only problem is the mileage, she’s been kicking for awhile, 123,000 to be exact, kinda a good sign if you ask me 🤷🏽♂️ should do it ? & what should I expect for monthly maintenance cost ? Side note (The f10 is my dream car, this one is a little old but I plan trading it in for something newer in a year)
120k miles is a lot of miles for these cars and 2012 isn't the best year for these cars. If possible, I would suggest going for a 2014+ LCI version as they have a lot less issues. BMW fixed a lot of issues with the engine. If a newer one isn't an option, I would check to see if the N63 Customer Care Package was performed on the car. In addition, check if injectors were replaced. I don't know what the cost would be for maintenance, I do all of my own work on the car and I've spent about $500 total in the past 3 years.
SimpleCarGuy thanks for the help ! the injectors were replaced on the car, some suspension work was done as well, & it has a 1 year power train warranty, I’m unsure about the care package I’d have to look up the vin again, other than that I was told to watch out for tan engine bays, this one’s all black..
@@blackturtle9897 If it has a year power train warranty, go for it! At the very worst, sell it in a year if you notice multiple issues during that time.
The general issues between pre-LCI and LCI I mentioned are the same. So. Excessive oil consumption, coils plugs going out early, valve stems and to lesser extent timing chains. Nothing too specific to LCI version only other than oil pump gasket and parking camera and sensors issues. Thanks for watching?
@@SimpleCarGuy I'm trying to buy a 2014 550 60k miles, it's well maintained but 2 years ago they had to change the crankshaft ventilation or flush it. I'm not really sure but it has to do with the crankshaft. Any advice will be appreciated
Well, the 535i with the N55 engine is the most reliable engine and 2014+ is the LCI upgrade, so lots of other parts of the car are better. As far as reliability ONLY concerned, you'll be fine with the 2013 model 535i (550i has different version of the engine 2014+).
Great video! So what's the best model and year to get? I thought in the US it's only the 2011 528i was the naturally aspirated engine. A lot of bmw experts told me to get the non turbo engines. Thoughts?
You are correct, in US the naturally aspirated engine was only available in 2011. It's a very reliable engine with only minor issues like oil leaks if the engine wasn't taken care of, but the problem is that they are getting to be 10 years old. The best out of the range as far as reliability would have to be the 535i (2012+), in my opinion. Thanks for watching!
@@SimpleCarGuy so with 2012 and up are those turbo engines? Hm a lot of Bmw mechanics tell me to stay away from turbo F10 engines. Thanks for your help!

I am buying a 2016 528i with 213k km on it, what are the things to look out for...I thought it was too under priced for the price but interior looks like it has been well taken care of. What are the things to look out for before making the decision?
Other than general F10 issues, there isn't much to be concerned with the N20 engine on a 2016 car as they fixed the chain and rod bearing issues by then. The mileage is high, but if it has good records, I don't see huge problems. I'd always recommend getting a pre-purchase inspection. Good luck!
I have a 2011 535i xdrive! My back up camera only works at cold starts when it’s cold. I’ve replaced the water pump at 70K. I’ve driven the car from NYC to Canada and also across PA and the northeast without issues! Water is starting to leak into the driver side headlight, I’ve had it pumped out and dried.. new headlight is about $2,000 US.
Water pump seems pretty normal for these cars, but the camera issue is very strange. I wonder if it's software or hardware related. I've see some condensation build up in the headlights, but enough to have it pumped out is crazy. Did you seal it after?
Just got a 2016 535i m package with around 48000miles , I wonder your opinion on the reliability of the car?? I hope it doesn’t give me too many issues in the future..
@@SimpleCarGuy How many miles can you drive a 2015 535i M Sport? Is it ok to buy one with 60k miles and drive it to 160k miles? Will I experience any big problems? I will keep up regular maintenance.
@@SimpleCarGuy No, you can get to it from behind the glovebox. The real problem is the sound proofing in the engine bay that covers the grommet doesn't have enough drainage so it slowly fills with water and the grommet perishes. I removed the sound proofing on mine and cut drainage holes in in it. Google f10 water leak and you'll find a link to the UK forum 5 site, has about 30 pages on these water issues :D
u forgot the add the mystery water pooling at the left rear passenger for cars which are right hand drive. it is a common problem where the water egress port will be clogged with debris and water will actually seep into the car....
I heard a little bit about that, but wanted to concentrate more on the US specs cars as I have personal experience and friends who drive these cars. Thanks for reporting and watching the video!
It's my daily driver since it is a company car. Have driven it for 2 years.... Total time in workshop for 2 years is 4 months lol. The 1st thing that went wrong after I got the car was the serpentine belt tensioner pulley actually came off. The bearing was fine but the pulley itself broke. After that is the oil leak from the head gasket, then the oil filter, then the crankseal. After that it was the front lower arm bushing, front strut mount, rear boot lid release, front passenger power window control, front passenger door latch, and the newest was the yellow grommet that cause a huge pool of water that killed the steering control module. The car was sent I on the 23rd of December 2019 for the yellow grommetand power steering control module fix and the car is still with bmw.
It’s not any more common than any other direct injection engine as far as I’m aware. I think it’s recommended to get walnut blasting every 50-60k on most direct injection engines.
The 2011 model is the least recommended since it has the most issues. However, the 535i is probably the most reliable (other than early 528i), so as far the engine there are no issues there. With the early (2011) models, you want to look for maintenance or replacements done around battery issues, fuel pump, turbos, fuel injector and oil gaskets.
I got a same 2014 550i m sport, but I am a bit confused about the front brakes(anyone know what kind of brakes are they?). I feel it's a bit not enough so I am planning to replace them with M5 brakes.
@@daiweibi5302 The iDrive wouldn't tell you if you had issues with rotors, pads and other mechanic parts (other than low pads). Your points makes sense also, if you're used to track driving, you will know the difference.
Hey idk if your still responding but it would help because I’m only 17 and I’ve worked and I have 13k saved for a car and I’m looking at this bmw 2011 535i xdrive with 142,000 miles for 10,700 he says it’s been regularly maintained and has barely got the valve seals done and a new timing gear should I buy it?
And also when I test drive it on wensday what should I look for ? What questions should I ask should I look somewhere in the engine? Anything would help thanks in advance!
140000 miles is a lot for one of these cars. It’s great that all the services were done regularly and the valve seals (very expensive job), but with those miles you have to budget for repairs. If you’re mechanically inclined, you’ll save lots, but if you’re not I’d be very careful. As far as test drive, check for any oil or coolant leaks, make sure there is no wetness or signs of wetness in the trunk or back seats. The rest should be normal checks like tires, paint, interior condition etc.

Everyone that like this comment own this Beamer
I own the 2014 528i with M Sport kit supercharged twin turbo engine. Bought it brand new and never experienced an issue at all except that you have to change the engine mount after 5 years because you will start to hear some noise when shifting the gear from N to D but changing the engine mount fixed the issue completely. Sensors and everything is great on this car.
Thanks for the feedback! I haven't had many problems myself, either. Hopefully they keep running for many years to come.
I've had my 550i 6speed manual (M sport) for a long time. I love it! Still looks like brand new.

My 2015 550ix is at 45k miles. No real issues yet. Just got a route 66 extended warranty up to 120k for 3 grand. Hoping they'll come through when something goes. Oil changes every 5k should be considered a must do.
2014+ models are really much much more reliable and if you do the oil changes and other maintenance properly, it will last a loong time!

Also, you can program the battery yourself with one of these instead of paying the dealer:
Autel AP200: amzn.to/2Sr8lOd
Hey! Will the battery being dead/not programmed stop the engine from spinning?
If it’s dead, the engine will not start, definitely. It should still start if it’s charged up but not programmed
@@SimpleCarGuy Thanks for the reply !! I have a 528i 2012 & one day it just suddenly killed. I replaced the battery with a brand new one but I did not know about the programming! I wonder if that has anything to do with it

I’ve only had the problems I mentioned in the video, so most of the time it’s a very reliable car. The reason I like F10 is because it’s so understated. The 550 is fast as hell, but looks like a normal sedan, you don’t get Nissan 350z trying time race you.

Wondering if you would recommend changing the timing chain in a 2013 528i pro actively (118,000 miles), or just stay on top of your oil changes?
I wouldn’t change the chain unless there are signs of wear such as metal in oil, movement in chain, unusual ticking, ‘slapping’ noise etc.
Change your oil at least 5k miles or if you drive in the city a lot every 3-4K and you should be fine. Thanks for watching and good luck!

Wish we had the more reliable BMWs around here, but they just bring the higher performing models to the states.
@@faithafterdark7801 I just feel so sorry this happened to you, hope you are better now!

Did you have to replace the engine because of the valve cover leak? It doesn't make a sense to swap the engine, but I could be wrong.

You are better off with a 2013.
I’m hoping I have done enough maintenance now and can finally enjoy it 😬
Edit: oh and the oil leak around the oil filter house caused the alternator belt to slip off and get chewed up 🙄
Thanks for the tips, i have a 2013 550i & this is by far the best car i owned very powerful smooth ride with great handling when i first test drove it i fell in love so i purchased it used, i went through hell a few times when i had the coolant leaks & misfires, but overall this 550i is a beast ride, my only concerns is when it hits 100k miles thats when the real maintenance will come, & you mention about the valve stems issue on what mileage do you think that can happen?
It's a really nice car, no doubt! The valve stems are kind of mystery as far as I'm concerned. My buddy had his replaced at like 38k miles under warranty when the car started smoking like crazy. Others have put 150k miles on it and no such issues. Dont let her starve of oil and hopefully it won't happen to you.

I would suggest 2014+, they fixed a lot of issues that year.
I have a bmw 520 d 2011 for 6 years and never any fault in the car! Now I hear noises when I turn the rate sometimes! what could be the problem?
Hard to tell without being in the car, but it sounds like it would be the lower ball joint or even an intermedia steering shaft. You can jack the car up and use a pry bar to see if any of the suspension parts are moving or clunking.

Do the 100k maintenance every 75k miles and you are fine. Also just keep a keen eye out for any other problems via knowledge from research on the N55 5 series platform. Listen, look, learn ect. These cars are amazing and a technological marvel.
Also change oil every 5K miles. Especially in colder climates!
Im looking at a 2014 535i xdrive 54k miles. For 19200$. Good deal👍 or not a good deal👎.
So what problems should we look for in the 2014 550i?
The general issues between pre-LCI and LCI I mentioned are the same. So. Excessive oil consumption, coils plugs going out early, valve stems and to lesser extent timing chains. Nothing too specific to LCI version only other than oil pump gasket and parking camera and sensors issues.
Thanks for watching?
@@SimpleCarGuy I'm trying to buy a 2014 550 60k miles, it's well maintained but 2 years ago they had to change the crankshaft ventilation or flush it. I'm not really sure but it has to do with the crankshaft. Any advice will be appreciated
I had 2016 520D se it’s amazing car.
I think we only have 535d here, but that sounds like a very efficient version of it. Thanks for watching
SimpleCarGuy here in Uk 520d is most common car
I honestly wish we had the variety you guys have!
Is a 2013 with 71k km a lot ?
Not at all. Very little kms
What is about the 2014 535i year that makes it better than 2013 in terms of reliability?
You smart ROCKY STALLONE I own both Turbo/Shit/+ Naturally aspired/Good stuff/
I can tell from my experience that Turbo charged BMW engine never ever is gonna get close to Naturally aspired one by any means.
Pretty much yes, all turbo engines.
SimpleCarGuy the mechanic was unable to seal it tightly.. better now with minimal condensation
Just got a 2016 535i m package with around 48000miles , I wonder your opinion on the reliability of the car?? I hope it doesn’t give me too many issues in the future..
That year and model should be great. I wouldn’t worry about reliability especially with such low miles.
@@SimpleCarGuy how many miles of a 535i should be considered as a high mileage car??
@@SimpleCarGuy How many miles can you drive a 2015 535i M Sport? Is it ok to buy one with 60k miles and drive it to 160k miles? Will I experience any big problems? I will keep up regular maintenance.
Thank you for posting this helpful video
Glad it was helpful!
great video mate!!!! thanks
I previously leased the 535d. Best car I've ever had.
One of these years, I might get myself a diesel BMW to see what the fuss is all about. Sounds very interesting!
Vapour seals fail on rear doors leading to water ingress into rear passenger foot wells. On RHD versions water ingress from grommet behind glove box.
That sounds like a real pain to to fix if it's behind the glove box. Would the dash have to come out for the fix?
What about carbon build-up in the intake valves?
It’s not any more common than any other direct injection engine as far as I’m aware. I think it’s recommended to get walnut blasting every 50-60k on most direct injection engines.
My 5 series got 2 problems, belt broken and engine supports softened, they HAPPENED after it ran 50km~70km.
Thanks for letting us know, hopefully it helps someone in the future. Those are low mileage cars.
Whatchu think about the 535 2011 85,000 kms great so far
The 2011 model is the least recommended since it has the most issues. However, the 535i is probably the most reliable (other than early 528i), so as far the engine there are no issues there. With the early (2011) models, you want to look for maintenance or replacements done around battery issues, fuel pump, turbos, fuel injector and oil gaskets.
@@SimpleCarGuy thanks for the info respect
Good video; well narrated! Thank you!
Much appreciated!
I got a same 2014 550i m sport, but I am a bit confused about the front brakes(anyone know what kind of brakes are they?). I feel it's a bit not enough so I am planning to replace them with M5 brakes.
I've never had any issues with the brakes, always performed really well. You might need to bleed your brakes or check rotors and brake pads.
@@SimpleCarGuy The idrive system showed everything is ok. I used to drive Camaro SS and went to track sometimes, I guess that is the reason.
@@daiweibi5302 The iDrive wouldn't tell you if you had issues with rotors, pads and other mechanic parts (other than low pads). Your points makes sense also, if you're used to track driving, you will know the difference.
@@SimpleCarGuy well that make sense, thanks for respond
big ups from your northside Chicago brother! Beam team bout it 💪
Chicago represent!
Sick car man! I'm looking me one of these. They are so nice!
Comfort and power all in one! Have you driven one yet?
@@SimpleCarGuy Unfortunately, no! But I am still saving up for it. Actually thinking of the M140i. I will see!
How do you feel about 2014 535i M sport package?
That's a good car! I'd buy one. Good engine and it's LCI, go for it!
Thank you so much for this video!!!!!
