Even though JLA/Avengers is the better series, I prefer the scope of Marvel vs DC better. On the Marvel side it had the X-Men, Silver Surfer, Spider-Man, the Hulk and some Avengers. On DC it had Lobo, Captain Marvel, Superboy, Robin and some Justice Leaguers too. I loved that a bit more than just the Justice League and Avengers going toe to toe. Also, they should get Linkara to be Dr. Doom in the MCU. His impression of him is absolutely flawless.
Nextwave actually has a decent shot. His criteria at the time (ten years ago) was he doesn't do GOOD stories, just bad ones... and he talked very positively about it. He's done lots of good stories since then... including Maximum Carnage which was also on the never list. If someone patreoned Punisher vs. Archie maybe but I feel like that'd be a commission better spent on... almost anything else. Lost Girls I don't think he even CAN do since so much of the content is porn. Batman 66 he already did the ENTIRE joke of just saying "Boner" a bunch, there's really no point.
This DC doing their recent string of animated movies, I would honest to god LOVE IT if the two companies worked out a deal to somehow make THIS a multipart animated feature.
24:39 I mean, we saw in Avengers/Justice League that Quicksilver has the advantage of not being reliant of the Speedforce being a thing in the universe he wants to go fast in... "the reason why spiderman didn't fight superman was because it would be a short fight" i love how even the companies acknowledge the superman is a vs debator's nightmare, just no way he should lose most vs fights, though releasticly if both sides were to fight superman would wipe the floor with most of marvel maybe some cosmic level stuff could defeat him but superman is just a nightmare here

tbf, if this was done today, Supes opponent for sure would've been Thor, which would basically be an easy equal to him. Maybe not as stronge as Clark, but with his magical powers he circumvents Supermans near invulnerability, meaning when they clash they are on equal footing.
As was brought up before. Magic is a weakness for Supes and while the number of magically prominent threats in DC are somewhat rare, Marvel has a rather large number of them. Beyond Thor, there is also Doctor Strange, the various Ghost Riders, Scarlet Witch, Shaman, Magik, and if we want to include villains, Loki, Dr. Doom, the Mandarin, and Mephisto. You don't need to over power Superman if you can just teleport him away, tranform him into an animal, remove his powers, etc....

36:40 "And thus the Marvel Universe loses." Wait, what? DC lost, not Marvel. They actually lost the moment Superboy lost, with Spider-Man clinching the win for Marvel, appropriately enough. The non-vote fights were set up so that Marvel and DC would each get an even number of victories. Thor vs Captain Marvel = Thor / Marvel Aquaman vs Namor = Aquaman / DC Flash vs Quicksilver = Flash / DC Robin vs Jubilee = Robin / DC Silver Surfer vs Green Lantern = Silver Surfer / Marvel Elektra vs Catwoman = Elektra / Marvel So it was 3 wins to Marvel, 3 wins to DC. The reason there was 5 vote fights was to prevent a tie. The vote fights were: Wolverine vs Lobo = Wolverine / Marvel Storm vs Wonder Woman = Storm / Marvel Spider-Man vs Superboy = Spider-Man / Marvel Superman vs the Hulk = Superman / DC Batman vs Captain America = Batman / DC So 6 wins for Marvel, 5 wins for DC, and the winning fight for Marvel was Spider-Man, appropriately enough. It does kind of showcase the issue with voting tho. Given the popularity of the X-Books at the time, it was almost unfair putting two X-Men on the final count to guarantee wins, and really, whomever was put up against Superman, Batman and Spider-Man was going to lose a popularity contest. Overall tho, it is a shame this series couldn't have been a 12 issue epic in the vein of Crisis on Infinite Earths or Secret Wars. Then again, it's an even greater shame that JLAvengers couldn't have gotten a 12 issue run. But there were a lot of missed opportunities that could have taken place, one-shot team ups they could have done, really focused on the character interaction. It's also kind of a shame they had to go with the 90s versions of those characters, as opposed to more 'timeless / classic' versions, akin to well done animated series adaptations of the characters. Something more akin to Justice League / Unlimited vs Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes versions of the characters. It makes you wonder how the match ups would have gone today. There likely would have been a Carol Danvers vs Wonder Woman match up, which honestly would make a lot more sense than Diana vs Storm. Iron Man would have been part of the line up, there would have been a lot more Green Lanterns to choose from, we'd get Peter Parker back as Spider-Man, etc. So while a fun but rushed storyline, it is basically a whole grab bag of missed opportunities.
@@kidcoyoteanarchy No, Batman won. His batarang connected with Cap's head and he was incapacitated enough that Batman had to save him from drowning. It was a acknowledged in the comic itself in dialogue between Steve and Bruce that Steve lost.
Happy to see another amazing video by you, Linkara! I've been feeling pretty bummed out for a few days, but seeing a new episode of Atop the Fourth Wall always puts a smile on my face. Thanks again!
Normally, I'd agree that Wolverine should lose to Lobos, but if it's like Greco-Roman wrestling where you just have to be the first to incapacitate your opponent, which I can see Logan doing without a problem. My sister is a skinny 5, 4 and wrestled in high school. Because she was the only interested girl in her year, she had to train with the boys (the coach rock for offering her this alternative so she could participate and the male students for seeing her as one of them). She trains with light and medium-weight boys. A teacher who happened to be passing by said that when he saw my sister beating her opponent, he thought it was nice that the boys were taking it easy on her. Her coach defended her, saying no, she's talented, no one's going to go easy on her. The teacher said that my sister was small and a woman, so she should lose normally. The coach explained that not necessarily and that my sister focuses on being fast and strategic. She just has to be the first to push the other's shoulders to the mat, not wreck the opponent. So yeah, she was capable of defeating boys heavier than her. So yeah, with the same logic, Logan can win. And yes, it makes me roll my eyes when people use the excuse of not wanting trans people in sports because cis girls won't be able to win anymore...B*tch, my sister made 2nd in her category and kicked the asses of most of the men's wrestling team in practice. Girls who play sports don't need to be protected or rather used to harass trans kids.
On the subject of "lobo vs wolverine", i feel like its not just the fact that lobo can punch superman, but that he can eat suns and regenerate near instantly from a single drop of blood that makes me hesitate to believe that wolvy would have a win condition. Thats "eating suns" by compressing it into a ball, chewing, and swallowing, btw.
To be clear, Lobo's base power level is very flexible. Make him the superman villain of the week, he's vaguely Kryptonian level minus flight but with regen. Give him a solo book, he's... Flinging suns around and barred from being collected by death. But put him as an extra on a team book? ...Yeah nah, then he's a jobber you can show get eviscerated safely, a Deadpool metalhead. Such is the scaling power of popularity. And oh, does Wolverine know something about that...
Considering the smoking by Wolverine after and not seeing what happened... well my mind went to a more seductive form of "incapacitation". We all know the Main Man likes his action after all, and I seem to recall him being taken out a few times by such things...
I've always loved Thanos' "It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen." Just such a great summary of the character. I have to be honest, I'm amazed that nobody's used Access again. You'd think someone like Grant Morrison would have him pop up in something.
For that scene where JJ apologizes to Spidey, you should have played the T4S clip of Vegeta apologizing to Gohan and him saying, "Oh, we ARE fucked....". They convey the same feeling, there.
I feel like Death would be talking to Death, and just raise an eyebrow and ask her "so... Wade Wilson? Really?" and skeleton-face Death through pantomime tells Goth-Death that Deadpool's "Merc with the mouth" moniker is not just related to how much he talks.
-Wonder Woman picking up Thor's hammer. I'm sorry Captain America, but I think you've been supplanted. -Love Aquaman admitting vulnerability to Namor before reminding us how much of a jerk he is by cheating. -It's a shame that won't do another one of these. We could have Mickey Mouse vs Bugs Bunny. Or Donald Duck vs Daffy Duck. Then again, involving those 2 companies might explain why there will never be another one of these. -Yeah, Flash beating Quicksilver was not a huge surprise there. To repeat my thoughts when I saw their Death Battle, it's like having a main character and a side character fighting. Flash has had more time in total and more time in the limelight to build up his insane feats. -It is nice to see the combatants being good natured about everything. Many still want to play fair, help out their counterparts, or simply avoid actually hurting each other, even the female antihero pair. Really only the Wolverine vs Lobo fight seemed to imply they were actually trying to kill each other.
I only managed to get one issue of this event back in the day but I thought (and still think) Jubilee and Robin hanging out/getting along was adorable af.
One interesting thing about this contest, since Marvel won the fan vote (by one) they "won" Marvel vs. Dc...and the prize metatexually was Access decided to stick with his Marvel girlfriend.
As flawed as this book is (I agree that it should have been longer), I still love this book, seeing as it got me into Superhero comics. I really wish there could be more of these crossovers, if only the heads of both companies weren't pricks about it.

16:24 I thought the bX-Man were sold in the DC universe. After all, Superman stories are sold in the Marvel Universe. 19:46 I guess it's about the stories where Thanos got the energy from OA. and other cosmic stuff in older crossovers. regarding time travel. During normal time travel, alternative timelines were created. But special time travel within one's own history was possible. just not that easy (and causes damage). AoA / Legion's time travel hit the 616th.
I would think Namor would be the one to cheat between him and Aquaman. Also, I'm disappointed we didn't get to see that fight between Etrigan and Ghost Rider

Ha! I remember CrossGen! I literally only remember it because my local comic shop owner started pushing it really hard for a little while, and it was obvious he had some monetary incentive to do so. I was barely polite enough to give it a pretend read, not my thing. Anyway, DC vs Marvel may be a bit goofy, but at least it has a good message at the end. I loved it at the time, and it's pure nostalgia fuel now.
I have a tradition when I attend Awesome Con: I buy at least one DC/Marvel crossover and this year it was Batman/Captain America and Marvel vs DC. Peter David co-wrote this so that explains why Aquaman and Hulk were a delight.
Marvel vs dc is such a fun crossover comic that I am surprised we never ever got another crossover comic between both dc and marvel because personally for me I would really love another crossover with marvel and dc especially with my team the super sons with Jonathan Samuel Kent superboy as his little 10 year old self and Damian Wayne robin and spidergirl mayday Parker the daughter of Peter Parker and Mary Jane which would be really awesome and badass to see at least in my opinion.

So can't wait. Hopefully this will help lift my spirits today. Rock on.
final destination only, no parents
Even though JLA/Avengers is the better series, I prefer the scope of Marvel vs DC better. On the Marvel side it had the X-Men, Silver Surfer, Spider-Man, the Hulk and some Avengers. On DC it had Lobo, Captain Marvel, Superboy, Robin and some Justice Leaguers too. I loved that a bit more than just the Justice League and Avengers going toe to toe.
Also, they should get Linkara to be Dr. Doom in the MCU. His impression of him is absolutely flawless.
Doing a good impression of a character is totally different than acting the character out in a film.
@@Pikachu2Ash yes, I know that. It was a joke that wasn't supposed to be taken seriously...
8 down, 7 more to go! What will be next to review?
My bet is Punisher meets Archie
I say its batman #66
I really need Nextwave
I want that just so I can see if it’s any good. I keep hearing it’s good but I just don’t get it
Lost girls scratch it tarot witch of the black rose
Nextwave actually has a decent shot. His criteria at the time (ten years ago) was he doesn't do GOOD stories, just bad ones... and he talked very positively about it. He's done lots of good stories since then... including Maximum Carnage which was also on the never list.
If someone patreoned Punisher vs. Archie maybe but I feel like that'd be a commission better spent on... almost anything else.
Lost Girls I don't think he even CAN do since so much of the content is porn.
Batman 66 he already did the ENTIRE joke of just saying "Boner" a bunch, there's really no point.
I just realized Scarecrow being an Iron Man villain is a reference to The Wizard of Oz.
This DC doing their recent string of animated movies, I would honest to god LOVE IT if the two companies worked out a deal to somehow make THIS a multipart animated feature.
Jubille telling Robin she loves his costume is a reference to how her costume at the time was based on Robin's costume
24:39 I mean, we saw in Avengers/Justice League that Quicksilver has the advantage of not being reliant of the Speedforce being a thing in the universe he wants to go fast in...
But aside from that, it's not even a contest. Wally outran Instant Teleportation once, for crying out loud (admittedly with aome borrowed kinetic energy, but nothing keeps him from taking Quicksilver's speed if they're going at it seriously).
And we all know that Eobard would sabotage that fight to make Any flash look like a killer
40:53 Honestly this could be a running gag, it really does seem that way sometimes. Doctor Manhattan accidentally drops garbage there, ffs.
I love the fact that of all the villains watching the end of everything, THANOS is the one that's jubilant over the death of both universes.
44:30 -- I like to think that, if he’d been included, the Phantom Stranger would have been all “Oh mo, not again...”
Hope you’re doing awesome, Linkara!
This was one of the first comics I bought as a kid.
12:44 You know, the funny thing is, Godzilla’s just now technically a DC character. Just imagine an Amalgam comic featuring Godzilla merged with like….one of the emotional entities or Fin Fang Foom.
Or King Kong Which Could Also Involve An Amalgam Version
Of The Universal VS Nintendo Lawsuit Over An Mash Up Of
Donkey Kong and Vector The Crocodile From Sonic The Hedgehog
Legendary Godzilla vs Marvel Godzilla would be cool. Kong just sits with his ax watching in confusion as the two bash each other
Legendary Godzilla vs Marvel Godzilla would be cool. Kong just sits with his ax watching in confusion as the two bash each other
Kinda hilarious that some of the matchups actually made to Death Battle.
Yeah this was wild but should’ve been bigger.
Next Time: Mr T is back
What I love/hate about Marvel vs DC is that it's such a time capsule of the era, there's something crazy going on with nearly every character
26:04 AQUAMAN'S ROUSING SONG OF HEROISM!
Outrageous!
41:44 TBF I just legit squee'd at Jonah and Perry standing up together to protect their staff and getting cavalry'd by Superboy and Spider-man, so apparently I really do care.
From that description of Lobo vs Logan... out of sight, lots of grunting, Wolverine smokes after...
Did... did he just sex the main man into submission?
I don't think that was Xavier's bribe offer.
Surprise!
I suppose healing factor adds to his stamina? :P
Well... he IS the best he is at what he does...
He's never said what that is, only that it's not pretty...
It feels in character for Lobo to lose the fight because he succumbed to one of his vices
"the reason why spiderman didn't fight superman was because it would be a short fight" i love how even the companies acknowledge the superman is a vs debator's nightmare, just no way he should lose most vs fights, though releasticly if both sides were to fight superman would wipe the floor with most of marvel maybe some cosmic level stuff could defeat him but superman is just a nightmare here
Eh, Sups is OP but Marvel does have Sentry and people who could fight him. Granted Sentry didn't exist yet at the time of the crossover but still lol
@@jacobwilliams1223 yes, sentry didn't exist back then. But it was at the time when Superman was just depowered and Gladiator... existed.
Not to mention people like Monica Rambeau.
tbf, if this was done today, Supes opponent for sure would've been Thor, which would basically be an easy equal to him. Maybe not as stronge as Clark, but with his magical powers he circumvents Supermans near invulnerability, meaning when they clash they are on equal footing.
@@EnerKaizer I mean, Shazaam is supposed to be on equal footing with Superman so that kind of did happen
9:48 "yes it is my batterang. This is yours"
So Wolverine and Lobo fall behind a bar and Wolverine comes out smoking a cigar? Theyyyyy totally hooked up didn't they?
With the wrestling joke, I'm imagining one of the brothers winning, standing victorious, and then you see the representation of Image standing behind him like that one meme of The Undertaker
11:37 Marvel actually did bring back The Surgeon General in a Spider-Man series, but it was a new character who took over her mantle.
Which series?

Huh. Legacies are everywhere.
48:37 Even Kevin Feige and James Gunn told that lesson to everyone, some heard it and some ignore this important fact out of mere selfpride or cause unfortunaly some people just want to watch the world burn. While me i like both Marvel and DC and i don't belive there needs to be some rivalry or hatred between both sides. You can like them both, simply as that.
I'm always down for a crossover even a bad one.
Okay, bit of cuteness : I was playing with my cats to try to exhaust them while this video was playing. As soon a Mr T was mentioned, both stopped playing at sst at attention in front of the TV. Even cats know the power of T!
To quote Street Fighter 3: "Yeah, I been waiting for this!"
Sky is bleeding. Yes, that is an excellent phrase. Something that really messes with how we know things are supposed to work. Like the Coyote painting a tunnel on a wall and it simultaneously working for the road runner and not the coyote, except not for comedic effect.
The game prey (2016) also had such a moment (break glass to enter), and I kept going back to that place in the game looking at the hole in the window and the area around it from different angles because the visual is just that strong.
Meanwhile
Ruby Heart: Do you think we should our gather our greatest warriors to aid them in battle, or do you need to consult the elder gods first?
Raiden: I must consult the elder gods (disappears into a bolt of lightening)
Ruby Heart: I WAS JOKING!
Fun fact. I sometimes run TSR's old Marvel RPG. I've used the Surgeon General multiple times.
I can understand Catwoman walking like she's in high heels even without them. She walks on the pads of her feet like a cat.
I remember reading back then that the cosmic event that made the "Brothers" aware of each other took place in the "Silver Surfer / Green Lantern" crossover that took place before this comic. Although I never read that issue myself
I wish we could have seen Lady Death and Death just chilling somewhere while all this was happening.
In Lobo's own series, he claimed that he was paid to throw the fight with Wolverine by "some bald guy".
Thor vs Captain Marvel = Thor / Marvel
Aquaman vs Namor = Aquaman / DC
Flash vs Quicksilver = Flash / DC
Robin vs Jubilee = Robin / DC
Silver Surfer vs Green Lantern = Silver Surfer / Marvel
Elektra vs Catwoman = Elektra / Marvel
So it was 3 wins to Marvel, 3 wins to DC. The reason there was 5 vote fights was to prevent a tie. The vote fights were:
Wolverine vs Lobo = Wolverine / Marvel
Storm vs Wonder Woman = Storm / Marvel
Spider-Man vs Superboy = Spider-Man / Marvel
Superman vs the Hulk = Superman / DC
Batman vs Captain America = Batman / DC
So 6 wins for Marvel, 5 wins for DC, and the winning fight for Marvel was Spider-Man, appropriately enough.
Batman cap America was a tie.
In the comic book at least. I'm sure Batman won the voting.
@@kidcoyoteanarchy No, Batman won. His batarang connected with Cap's head and he was incapacitated enough that Batman had to save him from drowning. It was a acknowledged in the comic itself in dialogue between Steve and Bruce that Steve lost.
okay, that transition from Spidey holding the Joker card to Gambit charging one in his hand is super badass though
I love that line Superman squash Spider-Man like a bug. LOL
On the subject of "lobo vs wolverine", i feel like its not just the fact that lobo can punch superman, but that he can eat suns and regenerate near instantly from a single drop of blood that makes me hesitate to believe that wolvy would have a win condition.
Thats "eating suns" by compressing it into a ball, chewing, and swallowing, btw.
but can Lobo handle Earth booze, my head canon was Wolverine just dumped a bottle of Jack down Lobo's mouth.
But can he beat Goku-Agh, no, I was kidding! Stop!
Considering the smoking by Wolverine after and not seeing what happened... well my mind went to a more seductive form of "incapacitation". We all know the Main Man likes his action after all, and I seem to recall him being taken out a few times by such things...
@@hitomisalazar4073Wait... Is that the "what he does" that Wolverine is the best there is at?
I've always loved Thanos' "It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen." Just such a great summary of the character.
I have to be honest, I'm amazed that nobody's used Access again. You'd think someone like Grant Morrison would have him pop up in something.
For that scene where JJ apologizes to Spidey, you should have played the T4S clip of Vegeta apologizing to Gohan and him saying, "Oh, we ARE fucked....". They convey the same feeling, there.

Tbf, Gambit is a master thief.
The Endless just watching this happen and just eating popcorn as they sit.
Really only the Wolverine vs Lobo fight seemed to imply they were actually trying to kill each other.
if it's 1996..... then it's Mark Waid Flash comics.... OH WOW! There's no contest at all.

Not likely, given how petty both companies are, but a man can dream.
I only managed to get one issue of this event back in the day but I thought (and still think) Jubilee and Robin hanging out/getting along was adorable af.
Surgeon General fun fact: The Skullgirls devs made a Valentine variant after her. I think so at least given the name
27:00 few beings know of the script on the reverse side of Mijolnir which says; “Don’t skip ab day.”

I really wish there could be more of these crossovers, if only the heads of both companies weren't pricks about it.

regarding time travel. During normal time travel, alternative timelines were created. But special time travel within one's own history was possible. just not that easy (and causes damage).

the part about Captain America liking Beta and Batman's reaction cracked me up XD
I would think Namor would be the one to cheat between him and Aquaman. Also, I'm disappointed we didn't get to see that fight between Etrigan and Ghost Rider
It's been at least over 15 years and I never realized Hulk had reappeared in the Batcave!! I thought it was outer space for some reason (probably the Moloid's appearance as it was my first time seeing them, and the sci-fi weapon they're firing). The giant coin should have been a dead giveaway...
lol I love that moment with Batman calling captain America his brother great joke dude.
Hey me too!
In fact I think I got 1/3 of their library.
I have a tradition when I attend Awesome Con: I buy at least one DC/Marvel crossover and this year it was Batman/Captain America and Marvel vs DC. Peter David co-wrote this so that explains why Aquaman and Hulk were a delight.
Maybe someday we’ll get another DC Marvel crossover, that would be fun
Marvel vs dc is such a fun crossover comic that I am surprised we never ever got another crossover comic between both dc and marvel because personally for me I would really love another crossover with marvel and dc especially with my team the super sons with Jonathan Samuel Kent superboy as his little 10 year old self and Damian Wayne robin and spidergirl mayday Parker the daughter of Peter Parker and Mary Jane which would be really awesome and badass to see at least in my opinion.
Beg your pardon but there was another one; JLA/Avengers which Linkara has already reviewed.
@@Wright805 I know about JLA/Avengers and I also thought that crossover was really good but after that crossover we haven't gotten another marvel vs dc crossover in a very long time which is just isn't fair, because if anything there should be another crossover between these two companies again at least in this decade before we all pass away but that's just my opinion.
