- FIRST DRIVE: The Bronco Raptor is here and Ford is saying this is the best off-roader. This is meant to compete with the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon & Land Rover Defender. On the outside you will notice the 37in off-road tires, extra large fender flares, and vented hood/fenders. On the inside you will be greeted by special Raptor seats, 12in digital gauge display and carbon fiber touches. Under the hood is a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 that pumps out 418HP & mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Is the 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor BETTER than a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392?

Seeing a new Bronco in person is like meeting a celebrity. This new vehicle has an intangible presence to it that makes everyone turn to look at it. Ford really nailed it with this one.
As far as the two animal naming goes, don't forget about the Mustang Cobra ;)
Guess I’m the Debbie downer here lol- cause I see these all the time and never give a second thought or glance. If anything they just look too big and goofy compared to Wranglers, 4Runners, etc (that doesn’t mean I think the Bronco is ugly, it’s not. It looks cool. It’s just big and goofy.)

I make no big deal out of seeing celebrities. I could care less. Just another person. Their not special imo. And am not aware of this ‘intangible presence’ at all. So goes completely over my head . But good on you for remembering the mustang cobra.
The bronco is actually really cool. I wasn’t so sure when then told everyone the Bronco was coming back but I was wrong and they did a really good job.
As a Rubicon guy, this thing is freaking sweet! Would love a head to head with the 392.

Note: One minor correction in your video, the Raptor has a Dana 50 in the rear, not a Dana 44 that you stated.
You did it - you gave me to last push I needed to purchase one of these! I LOVE my Cactus Gray girl, and won’t ever be giving her up! Alas, her biggest hurdles will be over the occasional curb and cobblestones, but for me, she’s totally Lux, comfortable, beautiful and the BEST out of the entire Bronco lineup, in my humble opinion (I had the Wildtrak Lux and Outer Banks Lux with the Roush package, and they did not do it for me.) She’s a substantial truck and just feels “right” to this five foot, one inch, 97 pound, shrimp! Ha! My friends saw it and when I told them it was mine, they thought it looked too big for me, but nope, she fits me like Cinderella’s slipper! Thanks for another great review, and ultimately, your help!😊
First of all . I like the Canseco input! Too a tee, on the throttle! My Son just recently got one and boy was I impress! Jeep 393 Who! Ford did a fantastic job in engineering such a modern 4 wheel marvel! Keep up the good work Joe and Lori! Peace Out!!!🙏
Great segment. I’ll never be able to own one, but I’m very glad they’re available. I think this Raptor is more suited to high speed desert running, but it’ll do rock crawling good too.

As a Jeep guy I can say that FORD hit it out of the park with the Bronco series! I got to ride in one and WOW what a great ride with that suspension , I have a Bronco Badlands Sasquatch package on order as we speak!

Beautiful review and what I know and seen between Rapter and 392, it is the 392 for fun and special sound from a natural aspirated V8 you cannot duplicate and you can buy one now!

When I look at the " new" bronco I keep seeing the old design of the International Harvester Scout. WHICH WAS A DECENT TRUCK

Great video as Always Joe! Could you please share with us the SOUND / NOISE experience that you have with the Raptor.. Did they did something extra better with the roof tops ... ? While you are running into Baja mode , I can hear lots of squeaky from the body ! What is this .. is this noise from the panels or something under the car?? What do you think .. is it tooooooo loud for a new vehicle !? Very very odd.. 🙄🙄

I telling you right the bronco looks crazy good and the raptor is the way you can just love it stock you don’t need to add anything else except for more custom lights that’s it if I buy a bronco on the future but I am waiting for the new 4Runner I want the big boy and that’s the raptor period

I always love your thought inspiring titles!.... The Bronco Raptor has been in development since before the Wrangler 392 was announced, and is not intending to compete with the 392... In fact, the 392 was only made because of the overwhelming hype and interest that surrounded the Bronco's unveiling and release... Jeep admitted that they got too comfortable, having that segment to themselves, for so long... Putting a V8 in a Wrangler was the only move they had, to make a hype worthy Wrangler, to get any attention, during the Bronco unveiling....... At this point, Ford is working with a new platform, playing with a fresh hand, so has lots of cards left in their hand to play.... On the other hand Stellantis (Jeep parent company) answers everything with a V8.. Yes V8 sound good, but we need innovation!.. Changes that mean something!.. Ford has brought just that, and at this point, they don't need a V8 model, because the current Bronco S, Bronco and upcoming Bronco R has MORE than enough interest and hype!....... I say this as a non biased Toyota 4x4 loyalist, so not a fan of Jeep, or Ford.

Where it was still a "concept". I have followed it all. I also know that the hype of the Bronco made Jeep admit they got lazy having that segments to themself for so long.
@@lunamaria1048 apparently you didn’t follow very closely. Jeep had at least 50 392 test mules on the road approx 2 years before the Bronco release. Yes, they waited on purpose for the Bronco release to blow them out of the water with not only the 392 but the 4Xe as well. Likely the reason they waited two years because it took Ford that long to get the Bronco out.

Jeep first showed the 392 as a concept and paid to run ads for it on TH-cam, during the times slot Ford Bronco was officially unveiled the Bronco videos online. The hype for the Bronco lasted years before it was finally unveiled. Forcing Jeep to have to make the 392, like I said.
Jeep paid to have the first 392 ad play during the unveiling of the Bronco. The 392 was shown as a concept. Hype for the Bronco lasted several years, it doesn't matter when the 392 was tested. Jeep had no way to compete with the record breaking hype Bronco generated over the years it was being developed, so Stellantis used their only party trick and put a Hemi in a Wrangler, then teased it as a concept, during the Bronco unveil. 😂

Iike the 392 for the V8, so it would be my choice. If they put the 5.0 in the Bronco, it would be no contest for me. I think the Bronco is, much more comfortable, more feature rich, better looking, and more exclusive (for now at least). I say all this, and I own a Jeep. But mine is a 2005 4.0 (the best!). Given its age it's dead simple, much smaller than any of the current gen Jeeps and Broncos, don't owe a penny on it, and I wouldn't stress about anything happening to it on the trail.

I love seeing these Broncos focused on off road performance. It just sucks that the under hood experience is so bad, gross really with all the hoses and pipes just gumming up the works. Progress I guess
Great review and comparison. To me, wins the Bronco interior “looks” competition. Jeep Wrangler needs another interior refresh after seeing this video. Both have the similar Dana 44 model rear axle, but Jeep Rubicon has a solid Dana 44 model axle up front. Bronco will ride to the mall better with that IFS. Jeep wins the suspension competition. Horsepower? Jeep wins again. Overall, it’s a tight race but Jeep Wrangler Rubicon takes the cake with a HUGE aftermarket supply of bolt-on accessories. Jeep can learn from Bronco’s hardtop and door design, but Bronco’s soft top was a flop at launch.

The Bronco has dna 50 at the rear Lol that solid axle in front doesn't matter it's already proven a long travel ifs with stay bar disconnect and lockers will beat a live axle anyday on the rocks . Let's not forget the Bronco raptor is a purpose built offroader which can do both rock crawling and baja unlike jeep . There is no jeep that can compete with raptor be it on road driving or off road it may wins in power that's it.

I really like the design and competitiveness ford brought with this Ford raptor bronco… they fulfilled it’s purpose of off road monster other than the fact it’s got V6 TT power rather than the v8 monster that’s under the 392… if I had to choose though I’m definitely going with the Jeep Wrangler rubicon 392 It’s so bad ass.

Boy that sure looks like fun. This is a wonderful "toy for boys" that to me is the great triumph of Hackett, who led Ford briefly and was responsible for selecting the great Brit F1 designer that made the Bronco, which is Fords' best car in 40 years.
They don't sell but a handful of these Raptor versions of their products, but it gives the fans something to aspire to own, and i think is very important for the Brand. Cars are not a purely rational transportation device, but carry a large emotional weight, and this is a winning vehicle. Just like the Escalade V,; overkill but Americans do overkill better than anyone else! Go USA!

It weighs as much as a Suburban and is running around on 37's. My JL on 37's with a re-gear gets 7-9mpg. The twin turbo 6 wasn't chosen for gas mileage, it has much better low end torque than a NA V8 which is ideal for off-roading.
That might be true for something like the Toyota Camry,@@dennis5909,but for most high-riding SUVs,when it comes to MPGs,you are well and truly screwed.

It would be cool if the Bronco Raptor had wide body fenders like the Raptor truck instead of those thin flares sticking out. I still like the Bronco Raptor, but it would be perfect with the wide body fenders.
