2022 Ford Bronco Raptor Is Ready For Anything

  • The regular Ford Bronco is an overachiever on and off the trails. The Bronco Raptor turns that ability up to 11. It’s got a whole new suspension, a twin turbocharged 3-liter V6 that makes 418 horsepower and the intimidating look that Raptors are famous for. The most powerful Bronco ever, it’s got what it takes to tackle anything you point it at. Just remember, it starts at $70,000… if you can find one. Tom Voelk takes it on and off road.

Most should use the Raptor as it's designed to be used - off road and driven hard. Have the loaded badlands sashquach package and use it off road and its almost the same price as the raptor. Those buying these vehicles better use them as they were built for and use the warranty when needed. 😀 great video.

Thanks Tom, amazing rig. Biggest downside is the width for trails here in Colorado. You may be surprised at who would beat up $75k rigs. There’s definitely a market for customers who fully intend to use their nearly 6-figure (or six figure) vehicles at the limit.

    • @georgedoolittle7574

Yeah I really don't get this but the sales numbers don't lie. I would *ABSOLUTELY* choose a Jeep over this what is an amazing offering by Ford as I think the hype has made people buy into a truly devastating purchasing decision for a still basically first Year production run and all the problems that come with that.
Ford Maverick losing out to Hyundai simply because of product availability which is clearly Ford management *INCOMPETENCE.*
Mustang Mach-E to paraphrase the Movie "Highlander" best known by *"The Cheapening!"* so hardly even worth honorable mention relative to the Tesla Model Y.
I think the great news for Ford is that they had the shortage thing just when the entire USA was going all in on their 7 Figure Home that has now collapsed in value. That means kicking to the curb *EVERYTHING* that went along with that. Ford just didn't sell all that much last Year and is only picking up volume production upon all market segments right now just when people need a vehicle *PERIOD* with the Ford Maverick imho being a life line for all these folks now destitute and facing utter ruination.
A huge opening for General Motors as well which is a *HUGE* defense contractor.
Foreign Brands excepting Hyundai and Subaru which are bringing the entire US Auto Industry to its*KNEES* from the USA, Japan and Germany *ALL* ... just too much Brand Loyalty there. Honda good luck counting Honda dead and buried same with Nissan.
Toyota which is top dog going on forever looks by far most at risk for a sales collapse, 2022.
BMW and Mercedes Benz...well, here comes Cadillac and Blue Cruise and On-star so like Honda *"maybe down DEFINITELY not out"* in the least.
Ford really and truly needs to start *TRULY* doing a Tesla and getting that volume production up and running for compact and mid-size and F150 Hybrid and Lightning plus Lincolns to *MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE* because there are only so many Ford Explorer buyers out there suddenly.
      Crazy Year 2022.
No stopping Big Battery Because Germany China now tho. Absolute *MIRACLE* USA just happens to have Tesla as Global Top Dog in that.

What do you mean ‘Sales Numbers don’t lie?’ What’s that got to do with anything?
High sales numbers are likely from Soccer moms driving from Home to school parking lots to morning hot yoga and then to the liquor store for todays bottle of white wine.
You have zero data that the large percentage of sales at this price point are doing any serious off-road excursions.

Hey Tom! Do you think the Bronco Raptor worth 90k? I’m in Jersey so I doubt I’ll be going off road but I like the look and height and proportions of this trim rather than the other regular trims. The truck look like it will last very long.
New 4Runner looks ok and so does the GMC Yukon Diesel. For 90k I toyed with the idea of just getting an Audi R/S5, S7, or SQ8.

I was talking to the new owner of a base 2 door Bronco dressed in white and OE "steelies" in a supermarket parking lot two days ago. Really loved the the unpretentious, utilitarian look. All for $35K....not bad, given what we've witnessed these past couple of years. The owner remarked that it reminded him of a Defender, to which I agreed. Maybe I've turned into too much of an adult but I've tired of the road warrior look embodied in this Raptor. In my ad agency life, I worked on the Jeep business in the 1980's (when it was owned by Renault and the French government) and product research indicated that 4WD was engaged less than 2% of the time. I suspect that number is still true today which is why the word "poser" comes to mind when I see these over-dressed versions of SUV's.

Wheeled in my Jeep Rubicon a couple of weeks ago behind a brand new Bronco Raptor. Did some shelf road and rock crawling. It struggled on washouts on the shelf roads (too wide), lost a front wheel fender on a rock squeeze. Plus it got plenty of Arizona pin striping. Owner left it at home the next day and brought out his Jeep JK.. Looks like a great vehicle for the open desert and the mall.
