And every follower of Marx thinks that "he" can get it right. It only works out for the elites living like nobility on the labor of the serfs.
Hello.
This got pinned.
With human sin a part of every person it is impossible for it to be done in it's truest form. Sin will always be a component of all men. Once power and control are attained those with it will Never let it go. This is why the founding fathers had the 3 branches overseeing each other and keeping each other in check.
Ah...the definition of insanity:
Attempting the same thing over-and-over, expecting different results.
Great work on the parody song! Says it like it is...
This song is a gem! Thank you! The real communism has been tried once. It lasted about 50 years. I’m from Albania. I was just a little girl when the Communist dictator finally died. He separated the country from the Soviet Union because they didn’t have the real communism (the country was getting some support from Soviet Union). He later separated the country from China because China wasn’t tough enough as a communist country (imagine that). We lost their aid also. “The country was the only perfect communist country in the world, according to him.” Totally isolated, a total nightmare of starvation and poverty. In 1990 the country opened and was poorer than ever, the third poorest country in the whole world. During the communist time(I was 5 years old) I remember that my mom would wake me up at 2 in the morning to bring me in front of the bread store. I would sleep there until 7 when a truck with bread would come to bring bread. Of course the bread was not enough. Sometimes even though I have lined up the whole night, I would return home crying without bread. “Perfect communism!”
Love how John Lennon plays on his white Steinway piano inside his Georgian country house in an estate of 72 acres. Then he tries to imagine that there is no possession.
Rules for thee, not for me.
the problem is that this "parody" only addresses 1 of 3 claims in imagine: Capitalism is bad.
he does not touch the claims of the 1st and 2nd verse: religion and nationalism are dangerous and harmfull for human welfare.
It seems that any current society of great apes from the species homo sapiens needs capitalism as the most effective and stable basis, but why in the world do we need religion and patriotism. On the contrary both concepts hinder and damage any free market.
Hypocrites. All of em.
@@goodmorningsundaymorning4533 Sorry, what do you mean with ".. all of em." ?
John Lennon was just ONE english guy singing about his world view.
And he identified 3 main problems of our world/society:
Religion
Nationalism
Capitalism.
And especially the USA check all 3 boxes big time. I see only Saudi Arabia and Iran more religious,
find no other country with more patriotism and no country that worships capitalism more.
And these three evils (as Lennons calls them) are contradiction in itself:
Christianity contradicts capitalism.
Nationalism contradicts a global free market (one of the 2 main pillars of capitalism) and
Christianity also dont goes along with nationalism as all men should be brothers and not divided into nations.
So who are the hypocrites in this world ?

Not really a parody since Lennon himself said the song was an ode too Communism ( even though he was rich, which Elton John called him out on)

I'm pretty sure that is what Lennon meant with the song anyways.
Ah, you think like me, then! I have always assumed Lennon was being satirical.
“Was it a millionaire who said ‘imagine no possessions?”
Yes.
Przemek Babiarz, stay strong!!
I was still a kid when Imagine came out. I absolutely hated it and didn’t know why. As an adult I figured it out for myself. Lennon was a typical commie hypocrite. Lots of the best possessions for me, nothing for you.
Nicely done rendition though.
Lennon probably assumed that in a future Communist USA, he'd be one of the people on top. Life in a Communist paradise is comfy if you're a high-ranking member of the party, after all.
Exactly, John Lennon was singing about the "perfect" commie utopia that is the fantasy of all commies. It is a horrible creepy song. Of course, people forget that utopia, correctly translated means "no place". That should sober people up.
I agree. I hate John Lennon.

Me too. Always have. I remember when he was shot and killed and my fifth grade teacher made such a big deal about a “great man being killed”. At that moment, I didn’t realize who john Lennon was. It wasn’t until I got home that I found it was the guy that did “imagine”. Of course I knew his music (and the Beatles) but didn’t really know “him” as a person.

The original lyrics to Imagine were scary enough. This is next level and so well within the realm of possibility given the current state of our world.
It was pointed out to me many years ago that the song Imagine was actually a song about non-existence or death. And when I thought about it, yep, true enough.

We misinterpreted the "empty shelves" in Soviet Union as a failing of Communism. Wrong. It is a necessary technique (demand side economics) to amplify the fear instinct which is a critical element in subjugation of a population. Sort of like putting a nut in a coconut -- the monkey will not let go of the nut, so his hand is stuck inside the coconut. People will gather what they can, then sit and protect what they have. When have we had severe shortages? FDR, Lyndon Johnson, Jimmy Carter, Obama, Biden. Funny how the shortages magically went away with Eisenhower, Reagan, Trump.

As a Zimbabwean who now lives in England, I lived through this. I know what it’s like living without bread. On the odd occasion there was bread, the queues (lines for the Americans) were so long and you could buy one loaf or roll per person). We also had shortages of petrol, again on the occasions when some was imported, we sometimes queued in our cars for two days to get fuel. Electricity became almost non existent. Some days we are lucky to get an hour or two, sometimes it’s a week without any. Most people own generators to have power but those require fuel to run so it’s a catch 22. Water became a scarcity too. Shops were empty and our money was worthless. Our highest note at the time was $100 trillion Zim dollars. It was heartbreaking to see my country fall. Once upon a time we were the most prosperous country in Africa and now we are the poorest. I and my family are some of the lucky ones who live in the safety and security of the West now. I wish I could send some of these socialist twits from the U.K. and the U.S over there to learn a lesson. They wouldn’t survive a day.
