    The farmer being wrong is a bonus for the cow, but also shows that they are very well cared for and that problems are picked up pretty quickly and the girls aren't left to suffer. This is a farm that cares about their livestock and that is just as good to see.

      It’s wild he mentioned this farm has over a thousand cows yet the farmer is aware of a single one possibly being uncomfortable and the farmer pays for someone to come out every fortnight to trim. That is some (wonderfully) obsessive animal husbandry.

    • @stella.r2708
      @stella.r2708 2 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      @@amberpeace5099 it is pretty standard for production farms. The cost of maintaining a healthy herd is far more beneficial than having to constantly pay for treatment.
      Happy cows are productive cows. It is excellent husbandry and a standard to follow.
      It should be the same for animals raised for food. Healthy and happy animals produce better quality meat and just because an animal is raised for food, doesn't mean they should live in poor conditions.
      But that is just my opinion.

The Appleton crush is considered an Implement of Husbandry (on it's own wheels) therefore is not taxed. Sometimes finding out that a “lame” cow is actually just an uncomfortable cow that is desperate for a trim makes for the best of videos, because you not only helped her… you FIXED her. Immediate gratification!

    Amazing how much harder the hooves are on cows that live outdoors.
    Just out of interest, what’s the weight difference between the Appleton and the KVK?

      One, the KVK, is a convertible.

    I'll call cow 388, Lotta from now on. What sweet animals cows are, and grass-fed butter is the best. So thank you Lotta, thanks to the farmer to really take good care of his livestock, keeping them outside and thank you for introducing me to a craft I had no idea existed but is so essential!

    I enjoy your videos, I probably wouldn't watch as often if they were ALL graphic so... thanks for switching it up, and just for showing and teaching us. I enjoyed this video very much as well! Can you give us a tour of your backyard? I'm curious in your part of the world, what does a backyard look like? I have about a 15x4 patch of grass and concrete with some trees, almost no backyard at all but we have lots of beautiful forested parks to go to closeby. I've seen your panoramas over the years, but without giving away anything maybe personal about your personal life would you, could you show us a typical yard when you live? Do people do a lot of their own growing of vegetables? do most people own acres and acres of land?

      I think he mentioned that the sore throat was the result of having a tube down his throat when he had surgery recently. The surgery involved his "boys" downstairs. The old bull has been put out to pasture, using cow terms!🤣
