BRUSHLESS CORDLESS 3-SPEED IMPACT DRIVER (DCF850P1) against its predecessor the DeWALT 20V MAX* XR® 1/4" 3-SPEED IMPACT DRIVER KIT (DCF887D2). We drive wood screws in to lumber, drive lag fasteners, and drill 1 inch holes using diablo's self feeding paddle bits. Thanks Vince and Jimmy (Jimmie?) for doing these head to heads for the Gang and the rest of the Tool Community on the interwebs. It helps us make better, smarter, and more financially sound choices when it comes to spending our hard earned Dough-Ray-Me. It’s nice to be able to see side by side (and head to head) comparisons of the tools we may be considering purchasing. Videos like these help us to see what the tool’s capabilities are (and sometimes, what they are not,) allowing us to make better informed choices for a tool that will meet our needs and suit our application. They’re fun, but also informative and educational and they help each of us to be a more savvy consumer. It’s like Sy Symms used to say on the commercials for his clothing store, “Because an educated consumer is our best customer.” Thanks for helping us find more value every day!

Hello from Russia. Guys, there's one important moment: you're showed that new DCF850 is much harder to work precisely. Less time to react, to stop, to save the material from damaging. The colour filter on 887 is also better 'cause id doesn't blinds when you look ai him from the flank. The 06:35 vs 06:40 shows that 850's compactness useless or even detrimental, because you'll confront to the material by the battery earlier than by the bit holder. It's when I say: «When you have no way to improve, you have to move to retrogression». The 887 is perfect as it is. If you have an insufficient of torque, you need the Milwaukee. If you have an insufficient of precision, you need the Makita. The 850 would be better if it would have same body as 887 with more power and/or more precision, but it have less precision and abortive body vs a little bit more torque.

I never thought of it this way! My god it’s true! You don’t want the battery to hit the surface you’re driving into before the screw is all the way in. This can be solved by the smaller powerstack battery or by a longer driving bit.

My friend told me I didn't know how to use it properly so he tried and had the same result. Looking at all the tests across all brands it reminds me of the tests made on sterio systems in the 70s and 80s the differances became so small that oscilloscopes were required to tell the differance. Our ears could not.
Here we are testing differant brands, different models etc and they are all either good or great depending on the chosen price point. Batteries good or amazing. We are fortunate, yellow red or green all great tools. The battery system chosen has more to do with the range of tools than anything else. How well the tools last is a reflection often of the respect users have for tools. We are very lucky to have only good product to choose from. When tools are compaired driving a five inch construction screw and the differance between them is a 1/4 inch thats a touch down in my mind. If only our elected officials were this good.
All the testing is good but we cant forget that while there are differances they are all good or great, comes down to personnel choice.
One thing I would really like to know though. In the day of corded tools our tool collection often consisted of multiple brands. This is way less common with battery tools.
How many people would mix and match brands if batteries were interchangable? Personally I would stick to a single brand that has earned my business. In europe the USBC plug is now law. It would be interesting to disscuss how this would affect the power tool business.
My own opinion is the less government involvement we have the better.

Team Maskita here so not really a Dewalt fan but that was pretty sick. Love the compactness of it. Another reason I chose team blue. Also just feels right in the hand. Another amazing video by the VCG. Keep cranking out the high quality content guys!!!

    • @Biaanca5036
      @Biaanca5036 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Probably not any smaller. I have the ryobi bid11XR and the stator is as thick as a pencil. They apparently had to split it into segments and it looks like a loose bike-chain held together by nothing _but_ its windings.
I'd bet the price would start to shoot waay up if they managed to make a smaller one and it's going to have a weird... _weird_ motor xD

    I recently purchased the
DCF809 / 2 battery / Charger kit for around $160 . I used it for a week doing electrical and was completely disappointed with it , I felt like I got ripped off .
The 809 was just plain weakAF , you should’ve seen me I was so friggin pissed off at how weak that thing was 😡 .
So I returned it and spent an extra $70 for the Atomic impact (DCF850) + hammer drill + 2 power stack batteries + charger kit for around $230 .
I must say I was pleasantly surprised with the performance of the DCF850 w power stack battery . The DCF850 is the real deal my friends .
Plus , I got a sweet little hammer drill and two new power stack batteries out of the deal so I’m super happy about that .
I must say that that combo kit I got from Home Depot is one of the best deals I’ve got in a long time .

That “test” where they had the bit holder in running at full speed and showing how centered it was was most likely due to the critical speed of the holder, you could see it wobbling about and then regain stability after it ran past the critical speed. I recon the collet are pretty much exactly the same, it’s just spinning faster allowing for simple rotor dynamics to take effect. In real use it would most likely “feel” the same under load
