    Great video Gerry :) it was myself who mentioned the use of an electric fence to stop the cattle poking their heads out while feeding

    Nice video. That tractor better not get any wider Gerry. How often do you feed them silage. Do you add other things to it.

      Neusa C thanks Neusa, feed them like this with tractor twice a week. These guys don’t get anything other then grass silage and water. Hope to let them out on grass by about mid- late March. 🤞 if weather permits

    How do ye find the dairy cross cattle Gerry? Do ye rare from sucks or buy in as stores?
    Is there ways ye could look at tightening up yer work load? You mentioned having gone down to shed and then you going down with silage. That's twice looking at one bunch of cattle in the same day.

      Bambinohead1 them ones we have bought in as calves, reared and we run them on and finish at 24 months. The less friesian that’s in them the better. I like stock out of the dairy cow crossed with a continental bull. Always do well. I’d fill a shed with them crossed breeds. The Friesian Costs too much to finish and will only come in to 300 KGs on average and factories are usually cutting 15-20c a kg off Continental bull price Because they are Frisians. Tough to make money out of.
      If we had to to another’s 15 acres into that pit down there we would have had enough silage to do. Never thought them Wee fu*kers would have ate as much. 😂

      gerry6420 So are they off the bucket when ye buy them or are ye raring them on milk replacer? Not much dairying round here. Any good cont suck is over €400 and ld prefer a light runner for €150 or so more and not have labour of bucket raring.

      Bambinohead1 we were buying around 2 weeks old from down cork direction. The southern dairy farmer tends to feed them bit longer on milk and gives them a fair good start. So they were still on milk when we got them. We Had a fella feed them on a Electronic calf machine. They tend to cost around 200€ because they that bit stronger and we were buying British friesian type.

      gerry6420 ah the only job at yer scale 👍

    • @gerry6420
      @gerry6420  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bambinohead1 well to be honest at housing Time they were costing 450€ calf cost, milk, meal and we could have bought same kinda stock for around 450€ in sales. So all the labour was for nothing. And with more and more dairy stock gona be around don’t think they gona get any dearer. Not gona rear any this year. Gona buy in back end. It’s hard to know.

      Kevin O' Toole depends on the job. 6930 over all. Plenty of power. Fast on the road and most comfortable.

    Why do ye put a full set of weights on

    • @gerry6420
      @gerry6420  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Shane Gallagher just leave them on. Use to put them on and off the 6420 for a whole lifetime of a set of tyres. Was like 7 years. And at the end. The fronts were fraction better the the rears. And when changing the tyres. Still just bought a full set. So seemed it was waste of time.
