I just bought one from 1971 and it works very good after some repairs nothing major just oil’s and fluid’s mine is actually a 4600 backhoe but it looks alike
5:50 guessing that thing's going to be about a 67-68ish year? ISTR that Whitlock Bros. over here used to convert the Ford 3000 or 5000 into a backhoe around then, before J C Bamford's LTD got in on the act and built machines from scratch to go on and become the famous name they are today. The big problem with the Whitlock digger apparently was the rear wheels used to work loose and break a lot due to the smaller bolt pattern (the machine reputedly weighed in around 7.5 tons). Only know this as the fella I used to work for had a pair of Whitlocks, '68 and '69 that he used around the yard.

I have the same backhoe I just started working on but mine is a 3500 Ford. I always attempt to have some way of putting out a fire when ever possible. In the field I started a fire under an 8n gas tank inches away.....I always give slight misty sprays of ether starting fluid WHILE the motor is turning over. If you spray to much you can lock up the motor. Great video as always guys...It's a great feeling bring on back to life like a ford 3000 loader we just brought back from the dead after a couple years sitting. LOL had two Gallons of water in the hydraulics..NO LIE ....Possibly being saved from the junk yard demon.
This is awesome to see. We just bought the Same machine in Michigan. Motor was locked up from sitting. Took 3 hours to get unsized. Have to get the carbon gaskets for putting the injectors back in. We may have to make a video of it
Hamiltonville Farm No problem and thank you for making the content and allowing me to comment on the videos and thank you. Hope you are having a good day too!👍
The model is a 4500. Within a couple of years Ford produced a 4500 which was a diesel and a 4400 which was gasoline. My Dad owned a 4400 but alays wanted a 4500.
@@HamiltonvilleFarm I did notice after I commented that you found the model once you moved the bucket arms. LOL The 4500 is a good hoe for the year though. I think they were produced from 1965 to 1975. The 4400 Dad had was a 1973.

I’m looking at a machine similar to this. It doesn’t have a rain cap on muffler. It has the slight curve at the top of the muffler. Should I remove the injectors before trying to start so it can push water out if there is any on top half of cylinders?

I had a 69 Ford 4500 backhoe. It had a 16 ft hoe by wain roy and that machine was one bad ass digging boss rig. Power and speed best match up I've ever run, that engine wide open, sweet music! The loader arm was broke on left side just like this one, same spot. They pushed it back together and welded it never lined it back up level and miserable to clean up with. One tough repair, I was happy to have oldt timer fabricator/ welder on it. He cut all but about a half inch of boom out and the work began, no easy task by any means. Wasn't off by much when he was done. Best overall TLB I've ever run. It would out dig any machine compatible no doubt about it. I wish I had kept that machine !!
