I'd add a few personal tips on this: 1 - Learn to landnav and pre plan your movements, seriously, I know most situations you gonna have a GPS, and it's always good to have one, but at first, you should learn how to navigate without one, not only is a useful skill on its own, but also helps you identify better routes to follow, for instance, seen too many people simply saying "oh we're here and facing this direction, target is heading that direction" *proceeds to climb THROUGH a massive mountain, skylining and exposing themselves, basically having a giant neon sign saying "i'm here pls shoot me" * whereas when you use your map you might say, aight, so there's these 2 mountains here, we can advance through the forest in the valley then set up a position on the high ground to fall on target 2 - THE, SHOTS, COME, FROM, YOUR, BARREL, NOT, FROM, YOUR, EYES, bore offset is a thing in arma, too many people wonder why are they not hitting their targets when they can clearly see them, not realising their barrel is in front and not above the sandbag they're using as cover, additionally, too many people get pissed off cause "they hit their head twice" when in CQB cause they aimed their sights at the target's head and pulled the trigger twice, but didn't realise the backup red dot on top of their magnified main optic is quite a bit above the barrel, and they're hitting the enemy's plate carrier as a result (or their abdomen when aiming for center of mass) 3 - Learn to play without mods first, there's a lot that mods change that are not that obvious to the players and might be screwing with their gameplay big time, for instance, AI enemy spotting and accuracy depends big time on their weapon and optics (and binoculars for spotting), some weapons have a better dispersion than others, and mods mess with this a lot without the player realising, for example, if you check arma 3 forums for topic 221755, you can see massive differences between vanilla, RHS, CUP and NIArmsm for the same weapon (AKM) without optics at 100m, vanilla AI had 51% accuracy, RHS 18%, CUP 43% and NIArms 34%, other mods greatly increase AI accuracy, that also debunks the widely spread MYTH that AI is super accurate, cause it's really not at all, however do keep in mind that their info sharing capabilities IS pinpoint, so, while they take a while to spot you, once one AI INSIDE THE SAME GROUP spots you, they ALL know where you are with pinpoint accuracy till they ALL break line of sight 4 - Supression is a thing, AI that is being fired at starts trying to move to cover, but primarily, they start getting their accuracy and spotting capabilities degraded, the more volume of fire and the bigger the caliber the greater this effect becomes, so when under fire, it's always a good idea to shoot back in the general direction where shots are coming from, to at least having less chance of getting hit yourself 5 - AI will keep shooting at your last known position for a bit after losing line of sight, so if you have deployed smokescreens and are trying to run, keep in mind not to just stand and leave cause you might get caught by a stray bullet, instead prone / crouch away for a bit THEN stand up and sprint, additionally, if you were moving when AI last saw you, they will shoot at your PREDICTED position, meaning it's a good idea to alter course when breaking contact 6 - AI does NOT have 360 vision, but they can get close to it, their FOV is 120 degrees but keep in mind, especially when their status is combat, stealth or aware, that they will keep their heads on a swivel, so they do see a lot more with more focus on their front since it's the place they look at the most, however, you can probably sneak past the flank of a relaxed AI since they do not look around that much, this brings me to the next point 7 - DO LOOK AROUND YOURSELF, freelook exists for a reason, trackIR is especially OP for this, but if you don't, at the very least freelook around while you move or even in combat, it's easy to have people sneak on your flanks or lose track of your allies positions when you're locked to a front view narrow FOV, looking around all the time helps prevent this, cause, players are obviously gonna be active, but, at high skill level, AI WILL try to push your position by flanking you 8 - AI can hear you, they might not see you but if you run close to them they will spot you, also, they spot a moving target far faster than a stationary one, they spot a standing character way better than one that is crouching or prone, so, in short, mind your pace, resist the urge to run when you think it's clear cause you might end up in a trap of AI that hadn't seen you before, use combat pace and walking more often, if you do have to run in combat, sprint for short periods of time, from cover to cover, if none is available, sprint for short periods, 3-5 seconds, then hit the dirt, otherwise you're a sitting duck 9 - This one should be obvious, but mind your stamina, it's no good if you rush through a field to a known AI position if you can then not aim for crap, weapon sway becomes a real problem when you're exhausted, another reason you should control your pace, not only of individual movement but also how fast you advance over an area, make sure your stamina is refreshed before moving forward again 10 - Peek things slooooowly, quite literally one step at a time, wether it's a crest or a corner, if you don't know what's around, in the middle of a combat , don't just run around it, you might find yourself on a 3 guns v 1 situation, even if you have to advance quickly and have to compromise some security, peek in a fashion where you can see what's around before moving on, and where you can retreat back to cover should the odds be against you, slow is smooth, smooth is fast
Another tip regarding rangefinding in vehicles: At least in vanilla Arma there's only 1 zero per vic, so if there's 2 turrets you and the other gunner share the rangefinder. When you press "T" you essentially "steal" zeroing from the other gunner so you need to communicate to share that resource. Same goes for the commander position without a weapon, if the gunner is firing at a target and you press "T" to range something you're looking at, you just threw off the gunner's zero. And 4000+ hours in Arma and I didn't know the Ctrl-Mousewheel to change ranging on a rifle. Always used Pg Up/Pg Dn.

Ok lads, so here's my personal tip. It may not sound like much but here goes: Don't settle on playing on just one map (whether vanilla or not). Now what I mean by settling on just one map, I'll givr you an example: For me it was playing only on Altis, until I realized that I've been playing on that only map (even though I played on the other maps, but I spent too much time on Altis) literally since I started in 2021 and it took me even longer to realize why I felt like I was getting bored (which of course was caused by the aforementioned reason). TLDR: Play on other maps, because there are lot more than just the vanilla ones. Sorry for the rather long comment, been wanting to say this for a while now.
Also on the other side, don’t get greedy with them 🤣 I can never finish more than 1 sequential mission because I constantly have to switch to a new map/ new setting
I have 2500 hours in Arma 3. I have played less than 10 hours of multiplayer/single player campaign. Almost all of that time has been spent in the editor. Making missions, my own stories, Arma takes up to 1TB of HDD space as there are SO MANY mods that are awesome to have. You can get lost in just playing the game and doing stuff in the maps, mods, stories, etc. So many things.
Another way to make sure you have the right mods is by joining a server through the launcher will also download and setup relevant mods for the server. Only caveat is sometimes I've seen it not unload mods if you have them already enabled, just unload all mods -> Join server through launcher -> you should be good (most of the time).
Absolutely respects to you for the clear, concise and detailed information. As a "beginner" I have to say, these tips (mostly) went way over my head in complexity. Those editor, virtual arsenal, triggers, etc.. were so far out of my comfort zone as a newbie lol. But sir, you definitely get a like from me for the outstanding voice-over work and well edited and presented content.
Glad you enjoyed! I know it sounds lofty at first, but I promise it will all make sense with time. Just take each aspect of the game with patience and a willingness to learn a little and you'll be rewarded with one of the best gaming experiences ever made :)
Just got my first ever PC, a 4090. Massive DayZ standalone fan, and always wanted to try this game. Imagine my joy when I booted up Steam today and saw this on sale for 5 pounds. Thanks for this video. Will be a big help to me. Can't wait to jump in and try it out over the weekend. 👊✌️
I bought the game two days ago, and my experience with it was as if I'm new to gaming (I started at 6 or 7? I'm 16 now), I kept giggling like a little child whenever I learn something new, just got into learning how to control AI as a squad leader, and having an AI drive to a location you want is more fun than I expected it to be.
I’m completely new rn and feel so incredibly overwhelmed and dumb. There’s so much content in just base vanilla game. Trying to figure it all out and can agree it brings joys learning all the crazy shit this game and community has to offer
I havent bought the game yet... but your video made me strongly wanting this game it looks wonderful and with endeless possibilities! sorry for my english im from sweden =)
Awesome! I never used Zeus. Good stuff to know. I play by myself in the editor. I create Assassination missions, pretending I'm a CIA agent or something. Fun stuff.
This is a great video for new players Viper even I don't know how to set up certain points ie warlords in the video and leraned something new and I have 1000 hours in Arma 3 now. defenitely giving this video to friends who might want to join me in the future :)
(SIG sound) is also a very good sound mod if you want more bombastic weapons sounds. AMZ is very new but also very good in my opinion as it supports RHS which is aside from CUP probably the most widely used mods.
Bought this game years ago. Only bothered to play single player. I wanted to try it online but I only had vanilla and I didn't know how to go about playing it online because of the learning curve so I gave up. I love watching arma gameplays tho. Very entertaining to watch
Me and my squad use Radmin VPN to host a LAN server, even though we obviously play from different locations. It was a godsend, which eliminated any connection issues. I recommend it to everyone.
IIRC Dynasound is made by LAxemann who also made the RHS sound effects, so in a way dynasound "is compatible" with RHS without the need for a compatibility mod like JSRS
Yup! LAxemann has also been hired by BI as a sound engineer and has provided a TON of work on Arma Reforger. Honestly I think Arma 4's sound is going to blow us away. I'm so glad they got him to do the sound.
Hey I have a question for you: How do you play Internet mission or MP but with a map where you can use all the Arma 3 resources? And why the maps they gave us always is dumb made, like just soldiers here, a tank there and respawn? How can I make my own full map and mission with tons of scripting, weapons at disposal, and other things like, all of suddenly turn night for players, complete a mission at the night so they can continue in the day. I think my point is how to create MP missions !!
I remember Arma 2 when Arma 3 wasn't out yet. Then it released and i could install and play but my computer at the time couldn't run it higher than maybe 12 fps lmao. Now all these years later I'm ready to play again.
5:00 I had a server i left up while at school and i'd come back to like 20 people having World War GTA. I set up a bunch of cars and machine guns around an air field. it was dope
One thing I would definitely add is that we should be cautious about deleting profiles. If you delete a profile, you will lose everything you have created in that profile, including scenarios, saved data in progress, settings, key configurations, etc.
GRRRR, just when i thought i was out they pulled me back in! Ive got 2,408.1 hours into this game and i never knew some of the things in this video. Thanks for putting this out there and ill be sure to give the wife your TH-cam channel so you can share in the pain.😂
Holy! I’m overwhelmed just from this video. Idk if I want to be frustrated with this game. I’d need to join a discord and have a vet not get annoyed with the 1200 questions I’ll have.
5:11 ... that's not Denzel Washington, is it? This game made me play 300 hours like hell it's so fun to play. Shout out to those who are still playing this to this day.
Good idea for a video. I've always had a question with Arma 3, and that is why didn't Bohemia Interactive list a FULL set of their controls in the game menu.
Good morning Viper1Zero! I just want to drop you a note to say "thank you" for your prompt and helpful response to my question. I found the Western Sahara game exactly where you said it would be. The Prairie Fire launch method spoiled me, as after hitting play you get taken to opening game menu with the playable options. Anyhow, I am a long way off from playing either of these two CDLCs as still in "boot camp", but nice to get them for later at a great discount on Steam. So thanks again and keep pumping out your great Arma 3 content! :) BTW Haven't had time to check out all your many Arma 3 videos, but just wondering "Have you created any of the "beginner play-through" type videos for specific DLC or scenarios like for example "Western Sahara"? Sort of a hand holding video for us "noobs" to watch where you take us through starting up the game or scenario, outfitting your team with gear and weapona, etc. and then some early game play. Especially interest in the single player mode now that the SOG AI mod allows this for a growing number of titles that were originally multiplayer only.
So glad you found it! Happy to help :) I have not done a video specifically on the topic of hand holding people through working the DLCs but might in the future!
Great video as always! Really impressed with the turn around time from when you asked to putting this out, I feel you really nailed your goal of the video. Side question: in the last seconds of the vid I see your A-10, like mine only has a pylon of 2 Mavs, not 3. Do you have any clue why the USAF mod doesn’t allow 3 laser AGMS?! I think it allows 3 IR, but only 2 of the laser or radar.
That was one of the most informative videos of yours to date man! great content and keep it up! that #1 and the information about mods I'm almost sure is the only thing like it on TH-cam. and wish there was much much more. if I may ask a question which iiii have been wanting an answer to for years now lol is WHERE can someone find mod lists like you showed at the end? to be able to just grab a mod pack like that without thinking period would help out newer people so much! from experience the work shop mods is amazing but for someone new so over your head its almost impossible to determine what you want to what you need and what you think you need. any info would be muchly appreciated thanks!
Thanks for the kind words, my friend! I really appreciate that! Are you talking about the aircraft at the end? That was footage of multiple mods honestly. The KC135 and C17s are from the USAF Mod Utility, the AH64 was RHSUSAF, the F-117s were from Farm Fox, and the F-16 and F-18s were Firewill's. All available on the workshop, you just gotta type them in :)
@@Viper1Zero no i was asking a question that wasn't shown or is about anything shown in the video. i was wondering if there is something out there that makes a modlist for basically a list of maybe the most common or highest rated or a list of all necessary mods for beginners or for people who don't know what they need exactly or what they want. the workshop on steam has a mod list so damn vast I literally get lost and end up downloading 300gb of mods and just because they look or sound cool and not know whether they are even relevant or useful or interfere with each other I was just thinking there has to be a site or blog out there that has peoples cutom made mod lists for people to either look at and download or if it works that way get a list of mods compiled by someone that you can add to your mod lists and it starts downloading all of them.. sorry I know that was a lot I hope that is understandable bro lol thank

@@Viper1Zero Thank you' Coincidentally, I just finished watching your "5 Things To Do Before You Start Arma 3 in 2023 [2K]" video just before receiving your email.
Do you guys recommend purhcasing the DLC's and then move onto downloading mods or? I come from a HLL (Hell Let Loose) background so this sort of "availability" is pretty new to me
Honestly it depends on what you want. Mods are free, and are a good stepping stone to DLCs. Also, with the exception of SOG Prairie Fire, most DLC's don't have the range and depth of new assets like free mods do. Most DLC's offer either new variants of vanilla vehicles/weapons and new maps.

got a question, i am sure, that you know the videos on YT with the C-RAM air defence systhem, is that a mod? or something else? please help me ! :)) and how do I play this "mod or what ever it is" :))
It will for official servers, yes. Most of those don’t allow client side mods (which most sound mods are). However there are servers that allow them but they usually belong to other players and have their own modset.

Do you have any that you'd recommend?
Also on the other side, don’t get greedy with them 🤣 I can never finish more than 1 sequential mission because I constantly have to switch to a new map/ new setting

You did a good job of finding the most common actual confusions for newer players instead of just saying all the generic stuff
Thanks fam I appreciate it! Tried to capture most of the head-hurters in one place. Some things are more common than others.
I love your videos, they keep me motivated with the game and creating missions to enjoy in singleplayer
Glad you enjoy, my friend!
I havent bought the game yet... but your video made me strongly wanting this game it looks wonderful and with endeless possibilities!
sorry for my english im from sweden =)
The possibilities really are endless!! It’s kinda crazy how much you can do in Arma 3, and we’re STILL getting new stuff through mods.
In terms of Sound Mods, I'd suggest trying SigSound too. It sounds very boomy and dramatic. Grenades and explosives sound great.
Thank you for the recommendation! I’m gonna check it out
Haven't Touched Arma 3 since Nov 2022 this video made me re-install it and going to try to convince my old squad to do the same. Thanks Viper
Once again the best unofficial community manager that Arma has, thank you🤙
Ha, I don't know about THAT title but I do greatly appreciate the kind words, my friend!
Awesome! I never used Zeus. Good stuff to know. I play by myself in the editor. I create Assassination missions, pretending I'm a CIA agent or something. Fun stuff.
3:20 Literally every public zeus server
After all these years, game is still looking like a new released game, both technically and graphically !
Truly a piece of gold !
Great vid .... played Arma 3 for years & literally still learned from this 👏
also the one mod i love more than any other is Arma commander a mod that lets you setup old battlefield style battles with anymod in a simple way
I am thinking about buying Arma 3 and this video was unbelievable useful. Thanks a lot for the video

It took me until the drone campaign mission to learn this. And this was AFTER I manually took out all 3 tanks and the 2 Striders
This is a great video for new players Viper even I don't know how to set up certain points ie warlords in the video and leraned something new and I have 1000 hours in Arma 3 now. defenitely giving this video to friends who might want to join me in the future :)
Thanks man! Please feel free to share everywhere you think it could benefit others! :)
Yep, This video would have been very helpful back in the early days. Even then you've given me some ideas for future missions.
I did make one a couple years ago but it needed a face lift :)
I spent 150 hours in Arma 3 and still learned a lot from the video, thanks
Happy to help!
20 tips ?!?
Yay ! One per frame I get 😎
LMFAO
(SIG sound) is also a very good sound mod if you want more bombastic weapons sounds. AMZ is very new but also very good in my opinion as it supports RHS which is aside from CUP probably the most widely used mods.
I gotta check that out! Thanks for the recommendation!
I wish youtube had 2 thumbs up so i could like it twice, great video... well put together and gives a newb a taste of what to expect, so thankyou!
Bought this game years ago. Only bothered to play single player. I wanted to try it online but I only had vanilla and I didn't know how to go about playing it online because of the learning curve so I gave up. I love watching arma gameplays tho. Very entertaining to watch
If you ever decide you want to try it, I can easily switch my 24/7 server to vanilla and you can experience a little MP action!
I have been watching your channel for a year now and I have learned a lot, I am very happy that you got 35k subs
Thank you for your longtime support, my friend!
Its insane a game can be this simple and old yet is the best most realistic army shooter ive ever seen still til 2023.😊
Thanks for sharing. I'm installing Arma 3 now. I appreciate the tips :) subscribed
Hell yeah! Welcome! (7 months later) cheers!
Great video, mate! You are a quality act, bro!
Thank you, brother! Truly appreciate your long time support!
Bro I love your videos!
Thanks bro!
This was very helpful!
Glad it helped!
I've never played Arma 3, but I am very interested. Thank you for the upload and tips. Is there a way to download missions?
Ah. Nice and early. Love it.

8:07 Definetly, KFCSIMPLE is the best unit possible
GRRRR, just when i thought i was out they pulled me back in! Ive got 2,408.1 hours into this game and i never knew some of the things in this video. Thanks for putting this out there and ill be sure to give the wife your TH-cam channel so you can share in the pain.😂
Welcome back to the fold!! Glad to have you and the wife in the community! :D
Me (With 2,000hrs in-game) watching this because there is probably something I'm going to learn.
Holy! I’m overwhelmed just from this video. Idk if I want to be frustrated with this game. I’d need to join a discord and have a vet not get annoyed with the 1200 questions I’ll have.
Its honestly not as steep as it seems. Are there things to learn? Yes, but the rewards for learning them far surpass the effort getting there :)
5:11 ... that's not Denzel Washington, is it? This game made me play 300 hours like hell it's so fun to play. Shout out to those who are still playing this to this day.
Good idea for a video. I've always had a question with Arma 3, and that is why didn't Bohemia Interactive list a FULL set of their controls in the game menu.
this content really helped, I just Bought Arma 3 this year
Good morning Viper1Zero! :)
BTW Haven't had time to check out all your many Arma 3 videos, but just wondering "Have you created any of the "beginner play-through" type videos for specific DLC or scenarios like for example "Western Sahara"? Sort of a hand holding video for us "noobs" to watch where you take us through starting up the game or scenario, outfitting your team with gear and weapona, etc. and then some early game play. Especially interest in the single player mode now that the SOG AI mod allows this for a growing number of titles that were originally multiplayer only.
So glad you found it! Happy to help :)
I have not done a video specifically on the topic of hand holding people through working the DLCs but might in the future!
No worries! I can only imagine how busy you must be cranking out all these great videos! Cheers! :) @@Viper1Zero
Honestly I have no idea, it could be because operationally we've only ever loaded 2x laser Mavericks on LAU-88 rails. Just a guess.
I owned arma2 for dayz, got arma3 on release, played a bit of the Life mod, always wanted to get into big scale multiplayer combat but have never been able to figure out how 😂
Good luck on flight school mate and great videos as always :>
14:24 What mod did you use to get that inventory display?
Better Inventory
@@Viper1Zero Thank you' Coincidentally, I just finished watching your "5 Things To Do Before You Start Arma 3 in 2023 [2K]" video just before receiving your email.
@@RamblinRick_ Happy to help! Hope you enjoyed it!
Really great video thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed!
any regards to modding the graphics, or are they good by themselves?
If you’re a multiplayer noob a good server to learn the basics on is NAK Squad Altis
There are MANY players who ONLY log in for unit operations. Kind of a cool community aspect.
You’re not wrong!!
3:24 you forgot the part where if you hold Left Control AND Left Shift, you can draw straight lines.
even though i felt Arma 2 was the pinnacle or peak if you will quintessentially the greatest Arma for me was 2OA, but Arma 3 is dope too
A2 and OA were great and I sunk a ton of time in those editors myself!
appreciate the video bro
Been playing since late 2018 and I've got around 7500 hours.
Even now, I still find new things to learn, you'll never know everything in Arma 3 >_>
Thank you for this formidable video on how to begin arma a decent way 💪👍
I know for sure that will help a lot of new and even old Player of arma univers .
Didnt expected so much but in this case you can freely say the more the better .
I hope we can enjoy a lot of content about arma in the future to come ,it sure was a blast in the past for me 😊.

I sure do hope it helps both new and old players! Thanks for the support!
You helped me for sure and the video turned out amazing and perfect ,like always . Great ingame captures 👍
The best topic clip out there ❤
I have over 7000 hrs on Arma and still learning, but in a great way!
just got my pc running after a year. so excited to play this game, squad, ready or not, even minecraft with mods lmaooo
I hope that mod management will be easier with reforger/a4 so one can just select a server and the game will do the rest like query the mod files from the workshop
but we'll see - currently I'm working on a fresh new implementation of arma life
I’ve been a DCS pilot after 10 years as a MLRS Crewchief, I miss the air to ground combo and have a hard time getting my hot as to work, if I want to come in as a pilot, where is a great server

And good luck up there
thank you for convincing me to buy this game lets hope i can run this🙏🙏🙏

Hello viper! I think about getting a Logitech X56, for better flightcontrols. I know u got one so I’m asking: Is it worth the money and is their somewhere a layout for all the single buttons? Thanks in advance
Also artillery mechanics are pretty interesting (without computer)
I only spend my time on 3Den editor and creating my own missions
How can I always play with my character, weapons and gear that I create in the editor? I mean to the coop missions that the game has. I can't make it work. When I create a session to play with my friends and choose a mission, the weapons and equipment are not what I want. Same thing in singleplayer mode. Sorry, I'm new to the game.
where i can download for preset vanilla w qol 2023 sir?
i cant figure out how to toggle scopes didnt find no settings ect im a little lost its my first time playing this i use to play argo back when it was out but didnt really get onto arma3 till now so far im loving it
quick tap right click as opposed to a long tap?
Thank you for the helpful advice. Have one question. Can anyone tell me name of mod I’d use to get the shell casings to spit out of weapon when shooting please.
I just buy Arma 3 today after holding back for years. Can't wait to put thousand of hours in it.
Thanks!
THANK YOU! Truly appreciate the generosity!
got a question, i am sure, that you know the videos on YT with the C-RAM air defence systhem, is that a mod? or something else? please help me ! :)) and how do I play this "mod or what ever it is" :))
does having a sound mod affect your ability to join multiplayer servers?
It will for official servers, yes. Most of those don’t allow client side mods (which most sound mods are). However there are servers that allow them but they usually belong to other players and have their own modset.
Yes please, I would lode to see how to use this kind of trigger. It will help me with the mission I made.
3:20 - lol!
what mod is that that makes the explosions and gun shots look like that?
