  • Hi folks, a bit of a strange video, I hooked up a sensor to the bikes loom and dipped it in acetone to see if it would work before removing the sensor from the bike ..
    I used a 1Kohm NTC thermistor, seems to work well...

    I want to share what happened to me in case anyone can find it useful. I repaired my meter with 1kOhm thermistor months ago thanks to this video of Myturkishlife and all is well, but now, on days of high ambient heat, the light comes on if I drive at low speed and turns off when I pick up speed. Obviously with the tank with enough fuel. I will try to install a higher resistance thermistor.

      @@jordi500 hi thankyou for the comment, I have to admit I recently had the same experience, yes in normal temperature around 20 - 25 degrees there is no issue but yes over this is does appear too fool the sensor, I will look into this and see what can be done..
      Thanks again 👍

      I'm going to the electronic supply store right now. I don't know whether to take 1.5kOhms resistors and try.

      @@jordi500 yes that's a good idea, maybe another resistor in series may help, I have yet to find the value of the original thermistor.
      I did at one point think that because I had removed the top of the canister that houses the thermistor maybe this is an issue and the fuel can slop around instead of draining slowly from the small holes.
      But then yes heat could be the issue..

      I found origin type thermistors and measure 1000 ohms. 🤔🤪
      It may be important to seal the top of the capsule 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Thank you very much for the insightful video. My 99 R1 keeps alerting me to a fuel level sender fault so I’m glad I’ve found a solution.

      Hi just a thought, I have just made a video about the flashing fault code on the R1 to do with the low fuel indicator, in my case it was a bad ground...
      I just posted the video if it helps..

    Quick update, took the bike out and the light came on when it should,also the display showed "F" and 0.0 this tells you how far you have traveled since the light came on , after filling up the light went out and 5Km later the display went back to normal..👍👍👍

    Hi there - thanks for the video. I ended up replacing the switch with a newer one.. it is a bit longer than the original so the low fuel warning will come on sooner.
    BTW when the bike is running are your front indicators always on?

    • @myturkishlife1777
      @myturkishlife1777  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, thanks for the comment, no my indicators are not always on, I changed them over for some "running" type indicators that have a DRL on the front indicators and a red on the rears ...
      In another video I changed the stock fuel tap with one that has a reserve option too, only because I was caught out before when the low fuel light didn't work and I ran out of fuel and had no reserve , so having this reserve tap is a "back up" worth doing I reckon and very easy ..
      Cheers 👍

    Could you please tell me what resistance will be on the empty tank and on the full one?

    • @myturkishlife1777
      @myturkishlife1777  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, I can't remember testing for this, I did test the resistance but it was open,hence why it didn't work..
      To be honest if it is your sensor I would just buy some and change it over, it's pretty simple, or even connect the new sensor on some wire and dip in acetone to see if it works on your bike..
      Cheers 👍

    Hi MyTurkishLife, thanks for the video.
    Is this to cancel the reserve lamp forever? or light does it work when low on fuel with normality?

    I have a 16 year old Honda Phantom 200cc, it looks like my low fuel sensor has the same fault? I've ordered a Thermistor for it - hopefully when I fit it, it cures the problem? 👍

    Great video, I have a 5JJ in red, it’s immaculate and I love it. My fuel gauge hasn’t worked for a few years, the fuel light randomly comes on and goes off during a ride no matter how much fuel it has. Does this sound like a faulty sensor too? Cheers.
