Mine was extremely gunked up with grease out of the box. That may have contributed to the failure to feeds, but it was mostly me limp wristing. It does shoot low left due to the mismatched sights, but a dot fixed that. Love this firearm, now that I have 1000 rds through it and the feel. Good stuff!
The ones that are “late to the game” are the ones I’m especially interested in cause I’d like to think they’ve sat back, looked at what everyone else did right & wrong & then submitted theirs.
Received this as an early Christmas gift a couple weeks ago and I absolutely love it. I’ve carried a Kimber Ultra Carry II for about 12 years. Never thought I would carry anything else but this reflex has replaced it and became my EDC. Great video!
Reflex internal hammer-fired vs striker-fired. Next on the channel suggestion -compare Glock 42 vs Sig P365 380. Reflex vs Hellcat a great idea as well. Keep up the quality content. 👍
I recently got a Reflex in black and I love it. Feels great in your hand and is an easy shooter for a small pistol. Been trying it for pocket carry lately and it’s perfect.
It doesn’t look like the magazine promo you referred to applies to the Reflex. I could be wrong but didn’t see that pistol listed. Thanks for the nice review and close up videos.
Can’t wait to find the MRD model in stock. It’ll be for my wife, since I have 2 509’s already. The Flex may force me to upgrade the triggers on both my 509’s if it’s anywhere close to what I’m hearing. Nice review man… Keep up the great work!
@@jasonwolfe9892 Thank you! I’ll call them tomorrow morning when they open and see if they still have any. I just looked up Sugarbush Armory and they’re only 50 mins from me
@@chrisanderson4044 Haha believe me I would love to. Unfortunately, my business is here as well as my family. I will definitely retire to a free state but that’s not for many more years(unless I win the lotto lol)
I love fn, but the only one I own is my scar 17. I’ve owned it for 7 years and have done upgrades to it so that it’s now complete. They make a damn good small arms. I’ve been really interested in the reflex but another firearm is not in the budget right now I’m an average working man just like yourself. Keep up the good work brother!
Most of the time, I carry a Hellcat with 124 grain Federal HST, I do not mind the 2 finger grip and use the flush fit base plate. I have a Warriorland Kydex holster that came as a matching set with SL-1 light made specifically for the Hellcat. Like you, I have not gotten into optics on an EDC, but I am open to them. But I think a good reliable light is essential, I envision most self defense incidents will be at night. If nothing else to get a better look at things after the fact, like is there more than one? I will be looking forward to the range review, as I am actually looking hard at the FN Reflex, the trigger is likely better because it is internally hammer fired instead of striker fired. Excellent review.👍
Loved the review, also think I don't need an optic on my EDC! I carry an FN 509 Midsize in Winter months here in Arizona and a Shield Plus during summer... this is definitely a possible upgrade from my Shield Plus!
It's kinda ironic that the first point you brought up why one should have a look at this firearm is that it becomes competitive because you don't have to have a red dot optic. When it turns out a few months later the main criticism of this model is that some of its ironsights have quality control issues.
Just bought the optic ready version yesterday cuz I’m about to get glasses and can see the dot, astigmatisms suck! I do wanna give a red dot a try at least, who knows I may love it. I’m a Glock guy all the way and went in for a 43X or a P365 but seen the Reflex and fell in love. I love the feel of it and the FDE color and it carries nicely! Looked at the holsters and found a FN made holster for the Reflex!
I bought one to see if my mom liked it and can rack the slide easier. So glad I did! She can rack it so much easier and I carry it too. I love it, now I'm getting another one 😁
Like FN. this seems to be a nice gun. Only issue I have with FN is when they are done with something, they are done. My FNP-9 is a perfect example of “we’re done”
I agree with you about the optic. At close range you should be aiming using your hand eye coordination. Your weapon should be naturally pointing where you are looking. In a real fire fight speed is the winning factor. If your aiming your slow if your pointing your fast
Got mine (not optic cut) this week and shall be carrying it with Speer New G2 Gold Dot Carry Gun Ammo 9mm 135-grain HP for self defense. I shall be using less expensive FMJ 115 grain ammo and other frangible ammo for target shooting and training.
Just bought my reflex yesterday at bass pro and I got the last one, now my only problem is that I cannot find any 15rd mags at all unfortunately but other than that the gun feels really good in the hand for being a compact. Way better than the Glock 26 I’ve held and shot.
I picked up the MRD version & it's already became my EDC. It's the best micro 9 I've ever shot. I think optics are fantastic for tiny guns as it negates their biggest flaw, sight radius. It's also only $49 more for the optic version, not $100. Although I have an odd situation that happened that allowed me to get my MRD version for the same price as the standard.
Almost nobody is going to change their 365 or their Hellcat for this. Those two have tons of accessories and are proven platforms. What's worse is that FN doesn't produce this gun with a manual safety like Sig or Springfield, I know that some don't like them but it's best to have the option to have it. FN is late and short of options.
The trigger is too light for me to feel comfortable with a round in the chamber without a manual safety. It may be silly for me to feel that way, even when using a quality kydex holster, but my Hellcat gave me the manual safety option and that's one of the reasons I own it.
Like hickock45 said, who cares if its late, as long as there giving us more options then he’s happy… I dont think ill personally get one if the P365 & Hellcat is there & has been through there quirks.. but we’ll see.. I LOVE Springfields U sights & the reflexs sight’s don’t amaze me honestly. Could be the deciding factor for me..🤷🏻♂️
It might be late to the game, but so am I in regard to micro-compacts. I resisted for a while but carrying a compact or sub at work all day is quite a pain, literally. I was going to go with a Hellcat or Shield Plus until I saw this. I will be pulling the trigger shortly, pun intended. The price difference between the MRO and non-MRO is about $70 so I am going MRO. I have a couple optics ready guns that I never saw the need to add the dot, but it is nice to know it is there and cheaper than sending it off for a slide cut. A 407k or EPS carry fde would look sick on the peanut butter version.
Glock 43x was and is my first gun, been carrying for a few months now. It looks like a piece of Tupperware compared to this beauty from FN. That and the trigger? Might have to switch…
@@spnfirearms I'm following up, I started having problems with failure to go into batter repeatedly after some moderate use. Around 250-500 rounds after the initial test. I've seen other TH-cam folks having issues too. It's out of my rotation and I'm saving money for something else....
I was thinking about getting the mc9 but all the videos coming out are all about issues with mc9 all the videos I have see on the FN Reflex have been positive my carry is my Glock 43X and I have a few others in my rotation.
Really nice looking pistol and I’m usually not too interested in FN. Looking forward to hearing your impressions after shooting it, particularly comparing to your Hellcat and Shield Plus, and of course G26. 👍
I am so glad i didn't pull the trigger and get an mc9. This is looking better and better. I think you just cost me $500😂. It'll fit nicely beside my 510.
Cant trust someone who says "i havent shot it yet but it will def be in my carry rotation" Make sure you check the rear sight on that bad boy. Sweet piece. When its loaded with the 15 round magazine, Is it taller than a g26 with a 19 magazine?
I have those videos coming soon!

Yes they just switched it up to the 509cc edge only. It was up prior to when this video was filmed
