I literally just quit my full time job to go part time, hoping to pursue content creation/freelancing on the side of the part time stuff. taking it as a sign that your videos popped up on my homepage. this is my time! resonate so much with what you share. thank you🧡"your passion should outweigh your fear of failure" 100%! bingeing your videos, thank you for the encouragement!
Wow, I’m so glad I stumbled across your video! I was also in a very toxic work environment recently and so hearing you share your story made me feel less alone in that regard. I’m so glad that freelancing has proven so successful for you and that you’re in a much better place now, mentally and physically!
No toxic work environment is ever worth your health! That was definitely a major lesson that I learned when leaving. Thank you for supporting my channel! I hope you’re in a better place now too!
ahhh that’s so amazing that you both are on similar life journeys! My next video will be a more in-depth video of how to start your own LLC, where to get gigs, and everything you need to know about freelancing so stay tuned~ 😊
Can you make a video about freelance sites like upwork and fiverr? Ive tried it before for copy editing but it was so competitive I ended up walking away with no clients! I'm just terrible at marketing myself.
Yes, quitting corporate can be great, and you can live more how you want, and you don't have to put up with as much BS, but - you don't get paid time off, so taking time out can be tricky, its easy to become a workaholic, you tend to get the crap assignments that no one wants to do, you are no longer part of a team and will be the lone wolf, and it can feel quite isolating, also payrises and bonuses aren't gonna happen. Loved the first 3 years, but its seriously stale 6 years in. It is levelling up for sure, but its hard to keep growing.
I completely agree with all of this and that’s why I was trying to be as realistic as possible in this video for people who were considering! Especially the workaholic tendencies and no PTO part 😅 however, since I work in a creative field, every day looks different for me and I’m always faced with different projects and challenged to think more creatively. I’m also grateful to have built a network of other entrepreneurs + freelancers that I co-work with so it doesn’t get as stale! It’s definitely a case by case basis + not for everyone but I hope this video can still help those considering 😊
@@jessyyyyc 100%, nice video...fully agree, I also have no regrets :-) I work in Tech, so you tend to get the same repetitive specialist assignments, but its not impossible to get variation.
Great job explaining both sides on video 👏🏻 wasn’t whimsical was very thought out on saving someone from leaving right then and there. Good wording! Never against someone believing the impossible if they were to but your point was nicely informative. I give you a… 👍🏻 would give you a subscribe if I wasn’t already ahhh 🤪
I could not stand the pizza parties from "The Man." lol The budget for all those fugazi workplace shenanigans could have gone towards compensating the employees. But of course, if you ever bring up salary inquiries, they'll just say "Didn't we give you guys pizzas parties throughout the year? Was that not enough?" I do not miss the corporate life whatsoever. 🤣 Seems like you went through hell (and then some), so it's great that you took your life back and are finally getting more peace of mind and less toxicity from harmful work environments. Good luck on your path to a better life!!
The budget was all a write-off as well so it didn’t matter how many pizza/taco/hoagie parties we got if we were still being overworked and underpaid. I don’t miss the corporate life either 😂 Thank you for leaving such a well-written comment and for all of the support on my channel! I sincerely appreciate it. Cheers to living better lives for ourselves! 🥂

freelance contracted work is the way to go 🫡 (but only if you’re okay with the lifestyle and certain cons!)
@@jessyyyyc just set up an Upwork account on the illustration!
