Some questions that I would like to ask:
1. What’s the first step of finding clients? Would you recommend upwork and fiverr?
2. How long does it usually take to complete a project?
3. What sort of framework do you normally use for freelance work? Will this depend on the project timeline and budget? E.g. I assume work like user interviews could be costly for some clients and they might be reluctant to spend on that.

Rachel, you’re an inspiration. I saw your videos since you started. How you spent your time studying UI/UX design and manage to land a job in 3 months. To now, being able to run your own freelance. As a self-taught designer, you inspire me that I can do it too. It is not easy but the results are worth it. I’m working towards my goal of earning a sustainable living from freelancing. These videos are so amazing, I honestly wish I could find a skill I could stick with and learn so I could actually get into freelance.
So good! I also LOVE a weekly email with outstanding to-dos for each of us, and a weekly call where I can share updates then and get their feedback. It also makes them feel super held in the process, so they’re never wondering where we are or what’s required of them.

To be honest, this is the most detailed, easy-to-understand & inspiring video of freelancing that I've watched so far. Thank you so much for your thorough explanation! I am a freelancer myself & have been working in the creative industry for almost 2 years now, but it's been hard for me to move forward as a freelancer (difficulty in finding clients, time management, underpaid projects, etc) although I love doing what I do. It's my goal to make a sustainable living by freelancing & your videos have helped me to understand the freelancing workflow better without selling myself short. Rachel, really love this video! Great advice, made my own notes on what you have said here and hope to apply it. Genuinely, thanks for inspiring me, it's good to get a bit of a reminder that all of this is achievable. A lot of this I already intuitively knew from the work I do where I am pursuing work with new clients etc, so it's good to get that reinforced. Hope all is well with you!

Rachel in my case the lack of clarity & guidance to follow the path of starting freelancing has become a problem as my field of construction design & drafting industry ( Hvac ) there aren't enough mentors to guide & show path specifically as it's not something which is in trend like Information technology sector & many clients prefer people with already 1 or 2 yrs of experience on projects.. what do you think should i be doing in such a situation ? Also pls suggest some best or ur favourite books to know practical tips on online money making as service providers..

Thank you so much for this video! I noticed you create the client portal in Notion before you have the discovery call, why do that work before they agree to work with you? Also, what are your thoughts on offering paid discovery calls? I've seen others advise this and I think it could help attract clients who are more serious about working with you and help you save time.

is it advisable for someone with no design experience to jump straight into freelancing to gain experience or is it better to work as a full time designer first like in-house designer or agency to get exposure to the design industry and the processes involved in the daily work?

Thanks Rachel, very helpful video! Just wondering, do you ask for final payment prior to handing over the assets? If you hand over the assets prior to payment, how many days to you offer to receive payment? Thanks!
Hello there! I usually (politely) ask for final payment before handover. If the client is not comfortable with it, we would work out a compromise, but usually clients are okay with that. But if I collect the final payment after handover, I would kindly request the client to make a payment within 30 days. Large companies tend to take 2-3 weeks to process payments, so it is expected to delay a bit.
Rachel. How you do in terms of pricing ? by package? hourly rate?
I recommend you to charge on a project basis, so both parties are aware of the total cost of the project. But it is entirely up to you :)

Where do you find your clients?
Hey indeed very helpfyll video. However the Last thing you mentioned about focus ing on freelancing and dont open up a company yet in most countries you cannot work as freelance without having a company (at least they for e you to open a tiny company with relatevily low expenses) but they dont allow other wise.
