The creators of Married With Children were wrestling fans and so named the Bundy clan after Kong and the Rhodes after Dusty.

I also thought he was funny in "Married with Children"....BUT he wasn't a 'Bundy', he was actually a (LOVE this name/word/term, whatever) 'Wanker' , which was Peggy's side of the family. @@cantbanme8971 Yeah, it's all over wrestling videos. I still love the old stuff and consider myself a fan. But the vast majority of wrestling fans seem to be the dumbest people on the planet.

NO NOT ANY RELATIONSHIP TO TED BUNDY

  • @1Cruzer4u
    @1Cruzer4u 6 ปีที่แล้ว +16

Bundy is a good guy he speaks favorably of most guys except the ones that have long been known to be a moron.
Bundy was a great heel so unique and of course the name was cool. I'm waiting for a wrestler to go by the name
    No Neck.
The Glory Days of Wrestling when the talent looked like a wrestler instead of the kid next door.
Quoting Burgis Meridith in Rocky 3 "I've seen wrestlers as big as dinosaurs".
True todays talent can fly higher & move faster. But the psychological game the mystique around two monsters going at it. Who will win the immovable object or the irresistible force as the late great Gorilla Monsoon often quoted.
Once you take away the believability all you have left is the mystique that's what is missing today they are phenomenal athletes but the most important ingredient is missing.
Sorry just nothing exciting about two 180lb guys flying all over the ring where no move has meaning. A wrestlers finishing move is lets say DDT, every Wrestler he hits with that finisher is done 3 count. Todays product in a match a Wrestler hits his opponent with a DDT nothing no effect. Opponent jumps up like nothing happened a minute later wrestler hits him with same move now he cannot move.
Repetativeness so many wrestlers doing same moves in a match. In past wrestler had a signature finishing move no one else performed that move it was protected as a lights out move.
Due to such loss of psychology in todays matches. Wrestlers in the Hope's of adding excitement aka crowd pop to their match. They over rely nowadays on hitting opponent with finisher then as referee counts to 3 and a kick out. Todays there hoping to get pop by the fans believing since he hit his finisher it's over then comes the kick out at 2/ 3/4. Only issue is it's been over played in every match go and watch wrestlemania 34 main event. Now watch on TH-cam match without fan cheers and wow's added in for effect. You can he a pin drop with 80,000 people ask yourself does that seem normal. Of course not again another consequence from matches being rushed story lines with no history over saturation of same match over and over with different colored outfits performing the moves.
The fast paced matches these days are great to a degree but it's also become part of the problem. it's gone to far.
Psychology reminiscent of a time when a matches excitement was due to psychology/build up. Back in 70's 80's 90's we knew it was a work but there was always two or three angles/story lines when the wrestlers feuding were so convincing as heels. We had that 1 % belief this match was going to be serious the 2 combatants hate one another.
I'm not knocking on current talent they are doing what there told. It's more management.
As business continues to slide downward & It Will they will need to change the show. No doubt it will return to the days of increased believability not a full return of course. Just enough where the matches do not insult one's ability to suspend reality. As Vince likes to say regarding Sports Entertainment.
Even with WWE going global fact there are less eyes watching and attending wrestling matches than ever.
In 60's 70's and 80's WWWF worked MSG 2 even 3 times a month Sold Out, now they go 2 or 3 times a year and often have trouble selling out. And this is with millions of more buts to put in seats.
Now understand I watch todays product no doubt guys and gals are 100x better athletes. The visual appearance of todays product is more astectically appealing to eye. Since most of todays talent are chosen for there looks as opposed to their in ring talent. Especially ladies some are great talents but come on Bella twins with the outfits that look like a soft porn outfit. Let's be honest is anyone watching their matches because there technician's in ring aka great worker.
So in the end Wrestling is still great, just would be nice if it returned somewhat to a more believable performance.
Look at UFC all there doing is Wrestling of 1970's, notice how they are moving towards emphasis on the character aspect of the fighter. Increased attention to pre fight promos almost every main event has a background history of bad blood between the two combatants etc.
Bottom line if your a Old Schooler or a Millennial fan the Sport is a great form of entertainment. Ya sure we will always have personal preference influencing which type of wrestling we prefer. Never allow negatives to get in your head to the degree you become so judgemental the essence of the product is lost.
Entertainment Enjoyment a brief moment in life to forget everything. A chance to jump up scream yell root for your favorite Bad Guy. Fun
Never allow that innocence to be lost. Guard that child like quality protect it if you keep that in mind every match will be Epic.....

Absolutely!! Check out the ripped physique of Lord James Blears, Blackjack Mulligan, Bruiser and Crusher, Buddy Roberts, Jackie Fargo, Cousin Junior, Verne Gagne, Buddy Rose, Billy Wicks, Doug Somers, and Johnny V, among others. Those guys were SHREDDED!!!!!!! They were what wrestlers should look like!!!!!! Wrestling NEEDS guys who look like they just walked out of a bodybuilding competition, while also looking like catalog models!!! The guys today just are all flabby and out of shape, but it's ok, because it's just sports-entertainment

The reason they show producers used the family name Bundy was because they were fans of King Kong Bundy.

I remember watching Bundy for the first on WCCW he interrupted an interview being conducted by Marc Lawrence he said he wasn't leaving until he was allowed to wrestle then Kerry and Fritz came out trying to calm him down but he wasn't budging so he was told by Fritz that he would give him a tryout took him to the back and the rest is history
