    Since my last comment, finishing mine. Mostly the same as yours, but had to box out a subwoofer. Have done a ton of mods all inspired by you. Thanks, again, for the inspiration!

      Heck yeah! That's awesome. Some extra bass would be a nice added benefit, for sure. Thanks for watching!

    When I built a box, on the edges of the boards I used aluminum u channel. Added rigidity and a finished off look!

      I did the same for the rear. Thanks for the comment!

    That turned out awesome! Those commanders have a lot of space once you remove the 3rd row seats. I've thought about doing something similar in my grand cherokee but the same space would only end up maybe 3" deep. The only thing I would do differently is split the hinged section 60/40 that way if you have cargo on top you can still open one side if needed.

      That's a great idea and I saw someone on TH-cam do that to their 4runner platform AFTER I finished the design on mine. So I got that idea too late, but yeah, that's a great idea and would require more work, but would definitely add some flexibility. Thanks for watching.

    Badass design man, love how you dont lose a lot of storage space as well

      Thanks! I'm really happy with how it turned out. Much better than 150lbs worth of useless seats. Thanks for watching.

    Looking amazing! your videos made me get a commander myself, going through stuff to make it better and I love the process.

      So glad you are enjoying them. It's such an underrated rig. I'm just having fun and hoping people like you come along for the ride. Thanks for watching.

    Very nice! I picked up a lot of ideas. One thing I would do differently is to split the foldable panel into two sections. That way if you have a lot of stuff on top, you can move them over to the other side without having to get them out of your car. Also, do you think the light in the back is bright enough to illuminate the panel at night? I was thinking of adding automatic lights on the cover itself. That would be another cool mod.

    • @ExtremeDailyDrivers
      @ExtremeDailyDrivers  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's a great idea. I thought of that after I built it. Lol. There is still room to slide things on to the deck right behind the seats, but yeah, splitting the lid would definitely help. As far as lighting, I don't remember if I mentioned it in this video, but if you watch my lighting video you'll see that I have a light mounted on the rear hatch that shines quite a bit of light when needed. Thanks for watching!

    Nice! I would like this 98% of the time but I use that rear seat from time to time, and don't want to get a minivan. I am too old to wrestle the rear seat in and out for those times.

      @ExtremeDailyDrivers  ปีที่แล้ว

      The kids can still sit back there. They just don't have seats. We used to do it all the time in my mom's station wagon. Thanks for watching.

    Took my 3rd row out & have been planning to do this. Obviously, it won't be as fantastic as yours. It looks sick!! Your videos have inspired me to keep improving my Commander. Another awesome job! Ty!

      Thanks! Hey, if I can do it, you can do it. I had a pretty sad set of tools for this project. I made it work, but a table saw would have probably worked a lot better. Thanks for watching.

      I meant to do that, but it's too late now. It's all assembled. Plus I don't want people yelling at me that my measurements are off or something like that. 😆 Thanks for watching.

    Dude it came out so sick!! I did something similar on my 2nd Gen xb but no it's nothing like your fancy box. I am surprised that you did not put any lightning down there, there's light weight LED strips that would go perfectly with the setup. I'm impressed man, it looks awesome and I want one of those first aid kits, that's sick! I have some military pouches like the one's you have there but the aid kit looks cool. Good stuff man, looking forward to October when you post another vid!

    • @ExtremeDailyDrivers
      @ExtremeDailyDrivers  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lol. Hopefully I can get one out before October! Did I mention it's hot here? Lol. As far as the lighting goes, I do have a removable led light on the hatch that I was thinking would do the trick, but I'm liking the LED strip idea. That could be cool and I probably could find some that run off batteries or are rechargeable. That's a good idea. Thanks JC!

      It's actually a casino gaming card. It covers a hole left by removing the spare tire carrier under the car. The hole left behind was plugged with a rubber grommet and I just siliconed the card over it for extra protection. Thanks for always watching!

    What were the size of the boards going down the side

    • @ExtremeDailyDrivers
      @ExtremeDailyDrivers  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They were 8 inches wide, but need to be cut to match the slope of the the surrounding plastics. It goes from 8 inches to 6 or something like that. Make a template, like I did in the video to ensure you get it right. Thanks for watching.
