    1. Basics of Removing a Load-Bearing Wall:
    - Load-bearing walls support the weight of the house and are different from non-load-bearing walls.
    - Removing a load-bearing wall involves careful planning, design, and skilled labour.
    - After removing the wall, it must be replaced with a beam that spans the entire space or with a beam and supplemental vertical posts.
    2. Reasons for Removing a Load-Bearing Wall:
    - Removing load-bearing walls can help widen doors, expand rooms, improve traffic flow, and transform segmented footprints into open-plan homes.
    3. DIY vs. Professional Removal:
    - Properly removing a load-bearing wall involves replacing it with a structural beam, which requires meticulous undertaking and skilled labour.
    - It is important to consult with a knowledgeable and affordable structural engineer for the necessary expertise and peace of mind.
    4. Safety Considerations:
    - Removing a load-bearing wall without proper precautions can lead to house collapse and structural instability.
    5. Choice of Beam Materials:
    - Choosing between wood and steel support beams is an important consideration, with each material having its pros and cons.
    6. Structural Integrity:
    - It is crucial to identify and understand load-bearing walls before undertaking any home renovation project to mitigate potential risks associated with their removal.
If you require specific guidance on removing a load-bearing wall, it is recommended to consult with a structural engineer or a professional contractor to ensure the safety and structural integrity of the building

Top man. Much more better effect when the steel is flush in the ceiling, a lot more complicated to do though. Great work

    Hi Paul,
I’m having a none load bearing internal wall (it’s has been confirmed by structural engineer)
My question is do I have to notify building control before removing the wall or after? Or is it building regs need to be informed?
Thanks for ur help in advance.
Ps. I haven’t seen helpful information on the net

usually you would get them out to check once the wall is down and the rsj is installed, as its not load bearing , im not sure they need coming out. Maybe give the building inspector a call first. Good luck

Great job, enjoyed watching, just a question about the props in the bedroom do you have to put them in or was you just playing it extra safe?

hi tony , great question. u have to put them in if you want to sink the rsj flush. the standard way with a bulk head you can just prop the ceiling joists on both sides.

@@pauljamieconstruction1871 yeah got one coming up, need to quote it first and check it out to make sure it is a supporting wall or not, small kitchen wall but runs the same way as the joists if you get me. if it is supporting will just make a bulk head instead of burying it. I'm not a bricky or builder btw I'm a plasterer that can do some building work.

prob wont need propping then if joists run same way as wall, that would be a touch. if u do it our way you wont have any issues with collapse, or cracking@@tonyc1167
