Removing load Bearing Walls #flushinceiling #RSJInstallation #OpenPlanLiving
Hello and welcome to our channel. We are Home Extension and Home Renovation specialists based in Essex, we have the perfect team and experience to run your home project successfully within your budget and on schedule.
This Video is a complete step by step guide how to remove a load bearing wall safely and efficiently, and installing 2 RSJ hidden in the ceiling void. So no ugly bulk head.
1. Basics of Removing a Load-Bearing Wall:
Load-bearing walls support the weight of the house and are different from non-load-bearing walls.
Removing a load-bearing wall involves careful planning, design, and skilled labour.
After removing the wall, it must be replaced with a beam that spans the entire space or with a beam and supplemental vertical posts.
2. Reasons for Removing a Load-Bearing Wall:
Removing load-bearing walls can help widen doors, expand rooms, improve traffic flow, and transform segmented footprints into open-plan homes.
3. DIY vs. Professional Removal:
Properly removing a load-bearing wall involves replacing it with a structural beam, which requires meticulous undertaking and skilled labour.
It is important to consult with a knowledgeable and affordable structural engineer for the necessary expertise and peace of mind.
4. Safety Considerations:
Removing a load-bearing wall without proper precautions can lead to house collapse and structural instability.
5. Choice of Beam Materials:
Choosing between wood and steel support beams is an important consideration, with each material having its pros and cons.
6. Structural Integrity:
It is crucial to identify and understand load-bearing walls before undertaking any home renovation project to mitigate potential risks associated with their removal.
If you require specific guidance on removing a load-bearing wall, it is recommended to consult with a structural engineer or a professional contractor to ensure the safety and structural integrity of the building

Easier to put it to the bottom surely. Saves having to try and hold it up. Hi thanks for the comment . Foreman is priced at 200-250 per day it would be unfair to charge that everyday if you are a working foreman. This covers the calls, meetings, managing , pi king materials, basically all the extra hours spent running the project. If you are running the project all day every day then charge it accordingly.

Top workmanship. Love the fact that the RSJ is sunken, looks so much better. Quick question if you don’t mind, please - we have a wall that we would like to remove in order to creat a bigger, more open plan kitchen/diner, however, I think the joists run in opposite directions (i.e., the front room joists run east to west and the back room joists run south to north if that makes sense). Would it be possible to sink an RSJ, creating a flush ceiling in this scenario?

    • @pauljamieconstruction1871
