    The color grading was way better in this video compared to the last one. The colors have been very flat, so it was a little hard to see what was going on. But the contrast was a lot higher in this video, with proper blacks and whites, so thumbs up for that.

    Great episode Adam! If you have enough footage, an episode about your Dawn Wall climb would be great. Even if you don’t have footage I would take just talking about it over pictures haha

    Hey Adam! Thank you for all your inspiring videos! - Question: Can you do some sports climing in Switzerland? It's my home country, but I've only climbed in the UK where I live now. People only seem to do bouldering in Switzerland, but there are the Alps, there must be some good climbing there too!

    What does that mean: without a chipped hold? Or is that the name of the route?

    • @hxrlxw
      @hxrlxw 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      There is a chipped hold on the route which makes it easier. The grade shown is doing it without the chipped hold.

    • @JasonOgasian
      @JasonOgasian 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      There's a hold that was chipped into the wall to make the route "possible". Adam did it without this manufactured hold.

    • @jakobmelchior6701
      @jakobmelchior6701 4 ปีที่แล้ว +33

      Chipped = not natural hold. Could be drilled, chiseled or in some case even glued on. Used to be relatively normal practice when developing routes many years ago but is very frowned upon nowadays.

    Not hating but it's interesting In the last two videos it's shown him trying on sites while putting up the draws and he didn't do either of them first try, even tho he's onsited much higher with pre placed, I wonder if we should judge the real onsite based on what you can climb while putting up draws instead?

    • @rrrents
      @rrrents 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are there any celebrities who actually put up their own draws on harder climbs? Even in the video of Alex Megos "accidentally onsighting" a 9a+, the quickdraws seemed to already be in place. In his other 9a routes, they were definitely in place already. Same for Margo Hayes and Mélissa Le Nevé. Seems to be standard.

    • @kcc8986
      @kcc8986 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rrrentsno celebrities that compete on the world class arena in comps do, but you have the hard trad climbers that place the gear and clip it which to me is even more impressive than putting up draws, but no, every major first send or onsite of new grades or major routes since Wolfgangs 9a, action direct, have been done in that way. it's kinda sad that's we've lowered the status and hardness to that being consider a send.

    • @rrrents
      @rrrents 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kcc8986 in my mind trad is completely different and it makes sense that they have to place their own gear

    • @kcc8986
      @kcc8986 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rrrents it is but it's still a form of free climbing so I think they should both apply to putting up your own gear matters, if it is putting in a nut/cam or putting the draw in the hanger, it makes the route harder because you have to lock off for longer and carry more weight so it makes sense that only people who do it in that fashion should be considered to say they sent that route.

    • @saskatoon5699
      @saskatoon5699 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kcc8986 Elite level sports climbing is all about athleticism, hands, feet. Protection is only a necessary nuisance, no? So it only makes sense to minimize the impact of clipping the rope and focusing on the moves. In my view, if it had been feasible to extend into even higher grades by climbing top rope, it would be OK with me. Even though I agree that at lower level, leading and placing quickdraws is part of the challenge of climbing.

      Alex is a very good climber and is not scared of dying, but technically Adam is a better all-around climber. Adam can really do everything well.
