Great video Scott! I agree with your comments on the BoP changes from build to build of iRacing! I was in love with the Mercedes AMG Evo when it got released last year, but after the 2023 patch season 1 felt like it was nerfed, more sluggish not as fun to drive. Now in season 3 it feels like it’s in the middle of where it been! I like this 992, although the steering force feedback feels a bit numb/like there’s a deadzone in the steering before the car reacts inputs! But very smooth with bumps/curbs!
Yep had similar feeling with the Merc too. Your comments on rhe steering are exactly what I was feeling and very well put
That’s a unique characteristic of 911’s they have a really light front end because the engine is in the back. But under braking it feels like you got lots of grip in the front because of the weight shift. That’s why so much people love it and also so much people hate it. You need to adapt driving style a bit but once you understand that, you can take corners much tighter and get back on the gas much earlier then other cars.
@Victor Barbosa maybe but the 911 steering is significantly heavier and different in feel than this current version. Maybe it was the setup and can be tuned out but there was a definite difference
@@stuffeyy well at least irl that’s how the 911 feels. I’ve driven the Porsche 992 cup car and a 997 GT3R and they both had that characteristic in common. I’ve never really enjoyed the 991 GT3 on iracing, but I’ve only tried it in the past 6 months.

You could argue that this is not a reskin or update of an a car,It has different engine with slightly different placement + different aero bodywork,so you have two out of the three essential elements that are different.
Well. If you bought the 991 in the past year before the update, you got iracing credits to buy the 992 or something else. So with any car that gets replaced within a year of you buying it. They will give you iracing credits for it but let you keep the legacy/old version of the car. Im pretty sure thats how it works still.
Yeah I knew there was a discount or offer that they had given recent purchasers of it. That's not too bad if its a year and you get that offer. Those beyond that obvs had to pay full price for it and those are the ones that are making a bit of a fuss over the cost.
@@stuffeyy I really am glad I got the credits 😂 I just lost my b license so I couldnt drive the gt cars, and I'm hoping since LMP2 was b class, lmp3 will be C class
From the release notes:
Customers who purchased the Porsche 911 GT3 R within the past 180 days receive a full refund in iRacing Credits. Customers who purchased the Porsche 911 GT3 R within the past 180 to 360 days receive a 50% refund in iRacing Credits. Customers who purchased the Porsche 911 GT3 R more than 360 days ago receive a 25% refund in iRacing Credits.
It's not an update. The 992 is a different car completely. Yeah, it's still a Porsche 911 GT3 car... So it's not going to be wildly different. The Ferrari 488 Evo would be considered an update. Where as the new Ferrari 296 is a different car.
iRacing offered credits on the 991 GT3R, 488 and Merc AMG gt3. That's pretty generous of you ask me.
I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you. I can see both sides of the argument tho and ultimately there needs to be a big discernable difference between new versions of cars to the older ones to warrant the purchase to most. On the other hand, iRacing most definitely had to lay out costs to bring this to the platform and those costs need to be recuperated at some point

They announced the 992 a few days before the update came out
You’ll also be able to buy the new one and you’ll get it for free. Try and add it to your basket and buy it. You’ll be pleasantly surprised

I bought the old porsche gt3 recently and got a full refund of iracing credits. i could buy the new porsche for "free", or just some off the current tracks from the vrs series instead
Yep that's the offer iRacing gave to recent purchasers of the car. Not a bad offer really or they couldve just given you the car for free like the new rescans of tracks
This might be the first time I disagree with you, because I happen to love the new Porsche and think it’s the best Porsche on the service now. Handling is superb, the car just does what you want it to. So much better than the previous. (Wasn’t a fan) I guess I have a polar opposite opinion on this one. People griping about a six to $10 charge cracks me up. They probably spent more at Starbucks today. And what a drop in the bucket compared to how much most people spend on the rest of the hobby. Anyway, congratulations on your new growth of the channel. Pretty cool!
Personally I have no issue with having to for content thst you will get use out of. I also after doing this video realise that the offer thst iRacing provided I.e. discount/credits for those that purchased the car within the past year is actually rather generous. My gripe is that how long will this piece of content stay in its current state as the BOP changes quite often and cars upon release don't stay the same. It's a great car and most definitely the best GT3 right now IMO.
@@stuffeyy yeah I’m definitely not a fan of the BOP. That’s how I racing gets you to buy other GT3 cars. 😉 it was a good piece of content. Got me thinking. Lol

“A game”? How about a manufacturer? Lol this isn’t iracings issue as much as it’s Porsches issue which isn’t an issue at all. We know what we are getting from Porsche. A rear engine 911 making 500hp for GT3 use
I already bought a bloody pork recently. This is a steal. Now the porsche I bought is useless and money gone... iRacing is really stepping on a thin ice.
If you recnetly purchased, you should receive a discount or iracing credits if you go to the basket section on the website

I don’t get the “is it worth it”. You cannot now use the old one for any official races, so if you want to drive a Porsche then you’ll have to. And it’s like £10 after discount. To have to spend an additional £10 every 3 months that they offer an update, like a DLC with most games these days. We pay for Amazon Prime, Netflix, Disney+, Discovery+ etc etc. which are on average £7 a month.

@@stuffeyy I’m a massive fan of this model. I don’t get why you’d say it’s not worth it, when you physically cannot drive the old car in any official races. So it’s not like you could drive either or, it’s that or nothing. For the sake of £10 - if you want to drive GT3, how is it not worth it? Most got at least £2 off for credits, if not more, from the previous car
Let's face it We're paying to be able to race any time day or night. But that does mean you're at the mercy of iracing Schilling for all they're worth
It’s free if you have the 40+ discount and bought it recently-ish. Free for me and I bought it almost a year ago. That being said, if you have the 40+ discount you probably stopped caring about how much iRacing costs a long time ago…

I used it to get the new caddy instead since the only reason I used the old Porsche was for the Daytona 24 and that was it 😂
When they updated the Ferrari gt3 they gave it to everyone for free who bought it within 2 years. But no other discounts.
Now the Porsche is free within 6 months. 50% off within a year and 25% off for anyone else who bought it.
Kind of a wash. But the new system at least gives everyone a discount.
I thought the ferrari was less than that for them to give it for free? Anyway I don't have too much of an issue from my personal experience of this model as I definitely get my moneys worth. In the video I'm trying to look at things objectively and can see the issues from both sides
