My best vacation days ever used are up in Pulaski in the fall. I like to catch all of the species but love the colors of the browns. Good luck this season!
The Fishunter if u dont mind me asking, when ur using flies are u using weighted flies or split shot above the flies? I've always used a regular spinning rod for salmon but this is my 1st yr using my fly rod, I can fly fish for trout no problem but it's hard to disipher for fishing for salmon and how to use it the right way..any suggestions or info for help, be much appreciated. I'll be up Friday with my fly rod bc I need a lot of practice lol.. thanks
Hey Justin. Awesome video as usual. It's getting me all psyched to get back up there. I won't be up until Columbus Day weekend this year so I probably won't see you around. Tight lines and Oh Yeah! Chad Decker
+The Fishunter Haha thats so smart, I'll have to try that for my next video. Was up in Albion on the oak orchard a few weeks ago, fishing was great, a few nice fish. Thanks
Thanks, I originally did it in my first Salmon river video, people liked it so much I had to do it again! Thanks for the comment! Good luck and good fishing!
How do you recommend fishing for kings? I know they don't feed once in the rivers, but will strike out of instinct...how do you usually trigger these strikes? I don't buy the "you have to snag them" method. Thanks! Awesome video by the way.
+16GHunter Thanks for your comment! No, you don't have to snag them, and I strongly suggest that you don't. I drift brightly colored egg flies and catch kings, cohos, browns and steelhead all with the same fly.The most important thing is to keep your fly as close to the bottom as possible. If your not hooking the bottom occasionally then your not going to be catching fish either. Most of the time you have to just about hit them in the face with it to get them to bite. If you check out my channel I show how to tye the fly that I use. Hope this helps. Good luck and good fishing! FISH ON!!!
+Yury Martynau This was from 2014. Finally got around to editing and putting the video together. Thanks for watching! Good luck and Good fishing! FISH ON!!!
Hi great video i have just got a rod online for course fish or as the Americans know them as "trash fish" but then do put up a great fight on a float rod but i wanna use a fly rod i have just got an arbor reel with 8 weight line i have floating and sinking lines on separate spools could anyone look at the spec on these rods and tell me if they are suitable to handle double figure fish its an Flextec Graphite Carbon CRX88 in 8/9 weight and 11ft 4 piece rod Regards Matt
+superhunter992 I have caught salmon on an 8wt rod, so i'm sure it will be fine. I personally use a 10wt just so I can put more pressure on the fish and land them quicker for the release. Thanks for the comment. Good luck and good fishing!
Thanks for the reply as i am fishing for carp on a still water i think i might try the bung method for buzzers and nyphing i know its not exactly fly fishing but it offers me another way to fish rather than on the top as its not very productive for carp at this time of year i also have a sinking line so i can fish on the bottom but i don't understand the method as and when to strike do you attack something to your fly line?
+superhunter992 I have never fished for carp but when i am fishing near the bottom it all by feel to detect the strike. Depending on the water depth I will either use a floating line with a long leader or a sinking line with a short leader. When using a floating line you can watch the line for it move or jump to detect the strike also. With the sinking line I will cast and count seconds to let the line sink to deeper depths, then retrieve. Hope these tips help. Good luck catch a big one!
I hope so! I got my rod today when you say jump the line what do you mean?? a nooby question i know. you should try for carp in the summer some people get some good fights have a look around youtube for fly fishing carp i have fished with normal carp with match fishing gear and its hard work but great fun i bet it would be extreme on a light fly rod
+The Fishunter Thanks! I'm new to salmon fishing and the site is brand new as well. Can I ask, what kind of leader set-up do you use on your fly rod? This year will be my first time with a fly rod.
+Brian Keiser I use a 9 ft leader tapered to 12lb test and about 4 ft of 10lb of tippet, all fluorocarbon. The fly rod is the most efficient way to fish the river, there is no wasted motion and your fly is always in the water. Check out my other videos. I have one on how to tye the exact fly that I use. Good Luck and good fishing! FISH ON!!!!
Another great video guys! Enjoyed watching it. Good luck this season!
+Larry Gonzalez Thanks Larry we have fun making them. Glad you enjoyed it! Good luck to you also! FISH ON !!!!!

I'm new to salmon fly fishing. Was wondering if you use a sinker on your leader to get to the bottom a little.
+getherdone a Yes I use split shot to keep my fly close to the bottom. Good luck and good fishing!

I fly fish for steelhead and browns but never salmon. This year will be my first year. What flies do you guys typically use?
Tim Sheehan Check out my video "Salmon river egg fly" Good luck and Good fishing!
Hey nice video! I was wondering what hole this is?
eduardo campos the ballpark I believe
Is this from this year ??
Fly-fishing only area?
I caught a 35 pounder there this year
Shadow Eclipsez how it tasste?
why do they have barriers?? why won’t they let them spawn up stream?
Hook'N Fish & Hunting The barrier is to direct the fish to the hatchery. There is some natural reproduction, but this is a man made fishery.
Is this this year run or 2014?

+superhunter992 I just mean you can watch the fly line for it to twitch or jump as a fish strikes the fly.
Great video but why the music ? I had to mute it. It's much more pleasant to listen to the water and sound of the reel.
great stuff! you should join salmontime.com forum!
+Brian Keiser Thanks Brian, I will have to check it out. I do post on salmon crazy forum. Thanks for the comment! Good luck and Good fishing! FISH ON!
