Always was a birthday day out for me in Brighton when I was a kid, a meal at Wimpy and a trip to the Dolphinarium (Not exactly PC in today's world I know). 50 yrs old now. Great review as always Deano. Oh and The Gary Eats channel is superb :P

There’s a Wimpy in Swanage near to me, been meaning to pop in and film something there, will probably do so in the next couple of weeks. How are you finding the new camera mate?
Last time I went to a Wimpy was when I worked there 1969 -1972. I worked evenings as a cook as I had to support myself through A levels at school. I worked 6 till midnight as the cook, 4 nights a week. They were actually good times back then as the city centre was busy at night. And I remember the bender sausage 😂 and "fillet'o'fish".
I've now watched three videos of Wimpy, Gary Eats, Greeno Eats and yourself and all are excellent. The bendy sausages you get now have changed from when I was a teenager, the used to be in a ring i.e. circular.
Good one Deano, well done, thought the food was well cooked, clean very presentable indeed, wouldn't have a problem there and for £9 with all that tea...sound, plus the guy very happy with his job keeping the customer satisfied, that's what brings people back.
Makes you wonder how wimpy manages to keep the doors open, looked like you were the only person in there! I see a couple now you've gotten your food. Sad state of affairs, but our high streets are dying. On a positive note, your breakfast looked good
There was about 6 or 7 others come in the time i was there, all older generation but it was 10.30am on a Thursday morning, they must of been regulars as the guy knew everyone
Have not seen a Wimpy for years since I left Coventry where there was several including a famous Wimpy round cafe but they all gone when I visited some years ago. But we have a static in North Norfolk and in Kings Lynn we found a Wimpy. Yes we had a few Wimpy's there in the last few years bringing the memories flooding back of the 60/70s in our youth!
@@JustDeano I left Coventry 40 years ago and it has changed somewhat. Stiill visit occasionally but where to eat is a question I may not be best to answer. I do enjoy the Toby in Binley, well my wife does. Don't forget to take a passport for travel in certain areas!

In the late 80s early 90s the best burger you could buy on the High Street was a wimpy half pounder fuckin lovely the sauce made it an absolute delight
Back in the early 80's my mother would always take me to the Wimpy for a knickerbocker glory before going back to school after the summer holidays. It's not been there for decades now, not sure when it disappeared most likely around the same time as the McDonald's turned up.
Great vid, I testing tour of the shops and fast food venues. I believe Whimpy was the only burger selling place when I left Birmingham in 1965,I have never had a burger in the UK my first burger experience was at a diner in New Jersey USA,and I loved them, still do.

Bolton is the biggest town in GB and funnily enough the last time i had a wimpy was in Bolton , that was about 10 years ago and i don't think it's open anymore

Wimpy is more expensive than mcd's and burger king, but they are far better quality and service. They cook food to order too, so its fresh, unlike the other two which often have stuff standing around.
Deano you need to get yourself to Piccola Taverna just off New Hey Road in Huddersfield it does the most amazing Pizzas - like proper Neapolitan style with fresh made dough - unbelievable
I don't know why they put chips in a breakfast, as they take up half of the plate too, tshould of been either hashbrowns or bubble & squeak, also the sausage probably looked better than it tasted as I wouldn't like a hot dog sausage i prefer the traditional one. All in all pretty average mishmash of a meal. Thanks for the video though, as always great !
In fairness there are worse places than Wimpy doing well. I used to treat myself occasionally to the Wimpy on Salford Precinct and was sad to see it go. Huddersfield is my closest Wimpy now - I might have a drive cross t’pennines, looks decent still from your review 😋

A little bit disappointed that you complained about the under cooked tomato, then when asked how the food was yo said perfect. If we said what we thought we would end up with food as ordered. Apart from this, the cheaper breakfast option looked better IMO. It is unusual to be served chips with an allday breakfast, hash browns, scalloped potatoes yes but as you said fries, definitely not. Remember Wimpy is a Diner, with table service, not a fastfood restaurant.

Wimpy left Belfast in the 80s 🥹 We had a Wendy’s in a random location in Belfast in that it was miles out of the city centre shopping area. Not sure when Wendy’s left probably about 15 years ago at a guess . I can’t believe some rude people ,would say it’s grim in northern England we visit it for holidays and loved every place we visited.

The curling/slicing of the sausage provides more surface area for the Maillard reaction to brown/crisp it up. Same principle as hasselback potatoes.

Get a better fry up in any greasy spoon cafe for less money. Best thing out of a Wimpy was the Knickerbockerglory, they don't seem to do it anymore.

Gd review didn't catch the price of it, but that would set you up for the day, one mc muffin is never enough for me so I'd always double order anyway so this might b gd value

We have the only Wimpy in Staffordshire just a few miles from me. It's nothing more than a little shack but the burgers are far better than say Maccys
I'll go back to try a burger in the future

Wimpy left Belfast in the 80s 🥹 We had a Wendy’s in a random location in Belfast in that it was miles out of the city centre shopping area. Not sure when Wendy’s left probably about 15 years ago at a guess . I can’t believe some rude people ,would say it’s grim in northern England we visit it for holidays and loved every place we visited.
