  • We’ve received a bunch of questions on our blade bait videos for walleye in Lake Erie. We’re in the open lake this week on a tough bite showing you some blade bait tips and even catching a big walleye.

    So glad to see someone fishing a blade bait in a season other than winter and not on a river. Blade baits will catch fish all year in any water.

      They’re so versatile and absolutely catch fish in all seasons. Thanks for watching!

      @@willsworldoutdoors they are the forerunner of glide baits, jigging raps, shiver minnows etc. first one available to me in the south was a silver buddy, developed by Billy Westmoreland a famous smallmouth guide on Dale Hollow, then came the Heddon Sonar. I’m 69 so I’m talking many years ago. Last April at Green Bay and Sturgeon bay my biggest walleyes were caught on blade baits while everyone else was throwing hair jigs.

    another great video!
    if you do the slow retrieve with the rod top down- move your line to the forward hole on the lures back. this will give a nose down presentation.

    I’m thinking of doing this next week on Erie since the trolling bite in my area hasn’t been the best as of now. Nice Catch 👍

    Thanks for the video we need to keep sharing info with eachother to keep the sport going. I fish erie out of Cleveland. Im finding good size and active walleye 14 to 20 feet down over 57 feet . Catch them on a 3/4 oz. Spinner rig and nightcrawler. A 12 count no undersized fish.dont ignore those high marks on your sonar there is alot going on at that depth

      My normal spread working the line out of buffalo is 3 color outside, then 5 color, and downriggers down the middle. Plenty of days that 3 color is hot, even when not marking fish up high.

      @willsworldoutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      We see the same thing but usually a 4 color on the outside. Seems there are always high fish.

      For crankbaits we use Bandits or Deep Diving Husky Jerks. You can find both at these links to our Cabela’s store:
      Rapala Deep Diving Husky Jerk: cabelas.xhuc.net/c/4416729/132065/2623?prodsku=2897412&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cabelas.com%2Fshop%2Fen%2Frapala-down-deep-husky-jerk&intsrc=PUI2_895

    I want to order some blade baits, what size and colors do you recommend, do you have a code name discount or anything?

    • @willsworldoutdoors
      @willsworldoutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t have a discount but I do have the link to the baits at Cabela’s in most of my walleye video descriptions. I use 3/4 ounce and anything with chartreuse are my go to baits for walleye. Good luck!

    Anything left in North gap, or are they all out deep ?

    • @willsworldoutdoors
      @willsworldoutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven’t tried in a couple weeks but last time I was there some walleye were mixed in with other species. Just not as consistent as deep water schools right now. Thanks for watching!

    crazy to see someone cast a blade. Everyone says you gotta jig it. Thats not true. It a vibe bait.

      It’s a different technique with the blade but just as effective. Thanks for watching!
