Omar. I accidently ordered a ZV-E10 without any lens. I then saw this video and ordered Sigma 16mm ! However, could I ask. Is it still worth buying the KIT lens?
I agree as far as a recording limit a discussion, a concert and such, but what I mostly do, shooting scenes that are mostly far less than a minute, to cut the footage together to make a story subsequently.
Now this video is what i call giving viewers value. I love how you broke everything down with videos and photos from both camera's. I also like how you outright mentioned which of the two people should go for. Most of these videos will just waste your time and go like both are great, "you choose"
I’m finally to the point financially where I can consider upgrading my camera so this review was right on time for me. I’ve been recording all my vlogs with my iPhone 12 Pro which does a decent job but I think having the blurred background will really improve the look and feel of my footage. Thanks for sharing your expertise and know-how with us! 💝

I have check out your videos, you are doing great job with the iPhone. Dont realy need to upgrade visuals 👍😁 the workflow is going to be different with these cameras - files management, different sound and more setting to work with.
This is what i’ve been waiting for someone to acknowledge for so long. The starting point and growth potential with the M50 are both significantly outpaced by this ZV-E10.
I use the Canon M50 to record *ALL* of my videos and it's been an absolute blast. I've been to gain all the success that I've received within about a year of being on TH-cam and couldn't recommend this camera enough. It's got a flip screen, 1080p and 4K, small and portable, nice feel in the hands and best of all? It's super affordable so it'll be great for any small channels! 💪🏻
@@SAGAtoday I agree, almost every review is about vlogs and not real photography. The ZV10 feels awkward in my hands and the lack of dials made me uncomfortable, the SL3 feels more natural if you are in to photography.
@@AboveInShadow exactly. And that's also why it's so hard to find decent lens reviews because most people keep trying to review any size lens for vlogging or even just video in general. Like you can't and shouldn't use anything more than a 22 mm for vlogging so almost every other lens should be reviewed for photography
Thank you for finally hitting the talking points I've been looking for. Out of all the tech videos you are the only person who got down to the brass tax of what a start up streamer or vlogger needs to know in the simplest of terms. I will be buying the Sony camera you touched on.
Recently got sony zv E10 as recommended by think as well as did a whole research and I would say there is no competition between them. Canon is an old product, it has record limit, RF lenses which go outdated soon. Makes no sense to get m50 today unless the release a new version.
I went with the Sony ZV e10 and I am really very happy with it. I do wish it had better stabilization - but I use my GoPro when stabilization is a must.
The a6100 is still out there too. Many of the things on the ZV-10 can be done on there as well. They’re about the same price. Heating is the problem though with the a6100. It was bad enough, I went to the Panasonic LUMIX GH6. It has a fan to cool down the camera recording crazy high quality videos. All of these cameras should have active cooling built in since people are buying them to make videos.
I'm kinda really confused about Sony ZVE10 I want to purchase it and I'm gonna visit a shop in like 1 or two days to buy this But the thing is I saw many videos about this camera and in some videos people rotate it's screen but not like 360° , it's screen stucks at one point which is not a problem for me but it should be rotate down ..like if my hand are up to the sky and I'm doing a high angle shot then the screen should rotate down so I can see the screen but in every video they rotate the screen in Every direction but not down Other thing is there's a video where the title was Sony zve10L Is the "L" a different model ? Where the screen rotation and audio recording in 120fps might not available or available I know the things I'm asking are weird but the price of this camera in my country is 900 US Dollars which is a lot for me So I really want to know these things which are really important for the type of content I want to make
Definitely is. Fujifilm offers so much in terms of features and even a slightly bigger sensor. They just lack a bit in eye/head focus, but it gets the job done. The film simulations are superb for anyone wanting to avoid color grading. Kind of why I ditched Canon series for the X-T4.
The Sony ZV-E10 records in 6K but converts down to 4K so its super sharp to the point some even turn the sharpness down. Also, its has picture profile such as Cine, S-LOG and HLG for color grading and film making. Canon just falls behind Sony all together with the APS-C line.
Honestly the reason I chose the canon was because I’m brand new to this and It’s been a great camera for new people to learn and grow. My videos don’t look that great but Im positive they’re going to get a lot better really fast!
The only real problem I see with the Sony is the lack of grip, if you are a tall person with long fingers the SL3 is much more confortable to hold than the M50 or ZVE10.
Another good option (if you can still get your hands on it) is the Fujifilm XT200, great easy to handle mirrorless capable of 4K with a nice flip out screen!
For me the ZV-E10 is much better as it also compares to a full frame camera for its image quality. Feel free to check the comparison video between Sony ZV-E10 and A7III. Especially for talking head videos its superb. The Canon M50 Mark II is much easier to use, but the output is not of high quality. Even using the kitlens the Sony just looks much better.
So zv e10 has no record limit and canon m50 does - but canon m50 is better with outdoor image stabilisation? So which camera would you recommend for outdoor sport content for youtube ?
Great video! I have a really nice Canon camera, but it is made for photography purposes, and not really video (no auto-focus!!) so I've been looking for a better vlog camera. I usually just use my GoPro, but I often wish that I had a nicer camera for some of my other videos. Super appreciate this simple and to-the-point review!
Zve10 is a video centric camera and almost professional level. Non stop recording, slog, mic in , good native lenses. The M50 is a photo centric camera with video capabilities. It's more like an A6400 actually
Love this channel so glad we found it! We are making our first camera purchase for our business. And have been having trouble figuring it out to shoot merchandise and also recording and photography so I think the Sony won!!
I have a m50, but you have sold me on the Sony when I’m ready to get a second camera for sure. Like you said, it’s about the future investment and the 4K ability locks it in place!
I'd advise against buying a ZV-E10 if you already have an M50. That would be a lateral move IMO. Also, don't even think about buying a 4K camera if you're computer can't handle it. They didn't mention this in the video, but the VZ-E10 has terrible rolling shutter in 4K, meaning your footage will look like jello if you're panning or if something in the frame is moving too fast. I'd look at the Canon M6 MKII if I were you. It uses the same lens mount as the M50 and can shoot 4K30 and 1080p120.
I don’t understand how Canon can make a video camera without being able to hear your audio! They screwed up! If you don’t have good audio people will not watch. I love Canon, but Sony is the winner for me! Thanks for the review… great job!
1080p is high enough resolution for most people. 70% of people who watch TH-cam watch it on their mobile devices, which don't have 4K screens. Good lighting and audio are far more important for production quality than 4K, and engagement depends on good pacing and editing, not high-quality resolution.
I might get the M50 Mark II to start, as Social Media platforms usually use 720p or 1080p, and as a matter of fact, I got the Weebill-S and this cam has full functionality on that gimbal, the ZV-E10 is not compatible with the controls. I hope it works out well for me and every other person getting the M50 instead of the Sony!

I have a trouble with ZV E10: after shooting video in 4K and recording audio on another mic I found that video and audio don't sync and the reason is that video goes a bit faster! Just 1-2% After slowing down the video everything is synced. I checked it in Vegas and Premier Pro. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

I’ve been thinking g canon m50 mark 2. All I need it to be able to film overhead, zoom in and out easily, and Bluetooth over to my laptop… am I still Choosing the right one?

Kinda disappointed how you never mentioned the rolling shutter, I've been watching your other Sony ZV-E10 comparisons a few weeks back and I was almost sold on buying it.. and on this video there's still no mention of it.
If someone does a lot of video outside then the M50ii 5 axis stabilization is a very useful feature, much better than the Sony which looks a bit bumpy outside while moving around. If someone does not need 4K entire screen, than Canon is a good choice. So depends on your needs. Both are very good cameras.
If someone mainly needs the camera as a studio camera in full screen 4K for content creators, then the Sony ZV-E10 has great specs with unlimited record time and battery adapter and easy control switches.
@@saint.ninenine According to some sites, the stabilization turned on may only crop in 10 percent so it has some pixels to move image around to look smooth for electronic stabilization in HD1080 mode. 4K is already cropped on m50ii and won't crop in more with it on as it can use outside pixels of crop to stabilize. For studio on tripod you would disable it. For outdoors you would want it on if walking with camera and recording. I have an m6 but plan to upgrade to m50ii.
I can't find the zv e10 ANYWHERE! I was told Sony stopped making them, and the ones being sold online are jack up to 1200$ or more some are 900 but it a bid on eBay! Don't know what to do😑
The ZV-E10 has terrible rolling shutter in 4K, and Canon's 1080p is sharper than Sony's. Canon also has great color right out of camera, so you don't need to spend time color correcting your footage like you do with Sony. If you're planning on doing both photography and videography then definitely go with the M50 because it has an EVF. I recently did a photo shoot for a music video where the videographer was using two Sony A7R IIIs. He said that he wanted to switch back to Canon because he hated the workflow with Sony. Even though he had two of the same cameras, they still didn't match in color, so he had to spend even more time correcting the footage. I shot a video podcast with two different model Canon cameras (90D and SL2) and the color matched perfectly. Canon is incredibly consistent.
@@castielvargastv7931 That's what you'd think but it isn't always the case. I've seen similar issues with BMD cameras. It really comes down to component tolerances and quality control.
@@joeygwood ah i understand i thought you talk about pictures. Color grading can fix this anyway. My panasonic g81 and my gh5 have slightly different colors also but i can fix it very easy. Canon r6 and r5 also have completely different colors but everything is fixable with very little work.

I am a beginner in photography and I am looking for a mirrorless camera solely for photography. I am not interested in Videography. 1080p is enough for me. Can you please let me know which camera - Sony ZV E10 or Canon M50 Mark ii is better for photography including low light performance? Or are both cameras equally good as far as photography is concerned?
There's something charmingly simple about the Canon M50/M50 Mark II. I just got the Fujifilm X-S10 but I feel like getting the M50 in the near future for more simple vlogging stuff. That or the Sony ZV-1. I heard rolling shutter on the ZV-E10 was pretty bad. What do you guys think?
The rolling shutter is a concern for me, too. He didn’t mention it (or if he did, I missed it). the Fujifilm is supposed to be better in that regard. Are you happy with it?
@@bien.mp4 Yeah, the rolling shutter in the ZV-E10 in 4K is terrible and just as unusable as the M50's 4K. Also, Canon's 1080p is significantly sharper than Sony's, so if you are going to shoot in 1080p it's better to go Canon.

This was a great comparison, would you guys be willing to do a comparison of the these two cameras along side the Panasonic Lumix DC-G100. Its under $1000 price range and it's said to be a great contender against the two cameras mentioned, which makes my purchase for a second camera that much harder lol. Im a Sony user as well.
I have a cannon camera that I bought 8 years ago and never used except for trying it for a couple of times; Cannon no longer acknowledges this camera on the website and has ceased all supporting software for this camera such as iPhone apps and PC software. As for Sony, I have this experience when their firmware, they limit some cool features such as maximum audio or some cool bugs; Sony also updates firmware once and for all.
But in Indonesia, the Canon M50 is slightly more expensive than the Sony ZV-E10. Canon M50 for $884, and Sony ZV-E10 for $816 in Indonesia. The Canon M50 costs $68 more than the ZV-E10. Should I Choose M50 ???

I'm looking for a Sony mirror less camera with similar quality, features, weatherproofing & isn't much further up in cost. I'd also prefer 4k/60fps or higher. Any recommendations? Nicely done! If you compared the ZV E10 with the Canon M6mii that would likely be more interesting spec wise, but yes, it is about $350 (CDN) more expensive than the Sony. Now if there was.a Canon Black Friday sale....
I personally own a canon r6 with a few RF lenses. I do a majority of real estate photography. I haven’t been taking my gear on trips because I don’t want to mess around with lenses when I’m watching my 2 kids and constantly worry about where my gear is. I’m trying to find a decent point and shoot. I’m thinking about buying a used Sony DSC-RX10M4 or the Sony ZV-E10. Unless I stick with a 90D just for family outings. What do you think?
tbh it’s actually a point for sony. The m50 uses the ef-m lenses which arent really being produced anymore and also dont have the biggest variety while the sony one uses the e-mount and have a gigantic diversity of lenses even compared to the ef ones
I'm getting my first camera pretty soon & I have to say my mind has been on the Canon M100 since 2019 but almsot 3 years later, I've considered getting the M50 as my very first camera. Wanna get into youtube/vlogging & teach and build myself up doing photography.

I don’t think dials etc are a con though…sure the Sony is probably easier but once you get to know your camera additional controls come in handy

Good call! The Canon M50 is capable of producing a beautiful image. Lighting and composition are everything.
The only real problem I see with the Sony is the lack of grip, if you are a tall person with long fingers the SL3 is much more confortable to hold than the M50 or ZVE10.

If you're shooting photos well as video then go with the M50 because it has a viewfinder and the ZV-E10 doesn't.

I have the m50 with Sigma 16 and 30 F1.4. I've added the 11-22mm from Canon and I'm good to go with this setup and a few filters

Does the Sony a6000 and ZV-E10 use the same e mount?
I have a trouble with ZV E10: after shooting video in 4K and recording audio on another mic I found that video and audio don't sync and the reason is that video goes a bit faster! Just 1-2% After slowing down the video everything is synced. I checked it in Vegas and Premier Pro. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

He forgot to mention that the ZV-E10 has terrible rolling shutter in 4K, which makes it just as unusable as the M50's 4K IMO. Also, Canon's 1080p is significantly sharper than Sony's.

Kinda disappointed how you never mentioned the rolling shutter, I've been watching your other Sony ZV-E10 comparisons a few weeks back and I was almost sold on buying it.. and on this video there's still no mention of it.

If someone does a lot of video outside then the M50ii 5 axis stabilization is a very useful feature, much better than the Sony which looks a bit bumpy outside while moving around. If someone does not need 4K entire screen, than Canon is a good choice. So depends on your needs. Both are very good cameras.
If someone mainly needs the camera as a studio camera in full screen 4K for content creators, then the Sony ZV-E10 has great specs with unlimited record time and battery adapter and easy control switches.
Just wondering, won't the 5 axis stabilization feature crop most of the video?
@@saint.ninenine According to some sites, the stabilization turned on may only crop in 10 percent so it has some pixels to move image around to look smooth for electronic stabilization in HD1080 mode. 4K is already cropped on m50ii and won't crop in more with it on as it can use outside pixels of crop to stabilize. For studio on tripod you would disable it. For outdoors you would want it on if walking with camera and recording. I have an m6 but plan to upgrade to m50ii.

I can't find the zv e10 ANYWHERE! I was told Sony stopped making them, and the ones being sold online are jack up to 1200$ or more some are 900 but it a bid on eBay! Don't know what to do😑

The ZV-E10 has terrible rolling shutter in 4K, and Canon's 1080p is sharper than Sony's. Canon also has great color right out of camera, so you don't need to spend time color correcting your footage like you do with Sony. If you're planning on doing both photography and videography then definitely go with the M50 because it has an EVF.
I recently did a photo shoot for a music video where the videographer was using two Sony A7R IIIs. He said that he wanted to switch back to Canon because he hated the workflow with Sony. Even though he had two of the same cameras, they still didn't match in color, so he had to spend even more time correcting the footage.
I shot a video podcast with two different model Canon cameras (90D and SL2) and the color matched perfectly. Canon is incredibly consistent.
Fairytale time? If the hardware is the same the colors are the same. If you use jpeg instead you do it wrong also.
@@castielvargastv7931 That's what you'd think but it isn't always the case. I've seen similar issues with BMD cameras. It really comes down to component tolerances and quality control.
@@joeygwood if you shoot raw it does not matter anyway. Components quality levels can vary with any manufacturer

@@joeygwood ah i understand i thought you talk about pictures. Color grading can fix this anyway. My panasonic g81 and my gh5 have slightly different colors also but i can fix it very easy. Canon r6 and r5 also have completely different colors but everything is fixable with very little work.

There's something charmingly simple about the Canon M50/M50 Mark II. I just got the Fujifilm X-S10 but I feel like getting the M50 in the near future for more simple vlogging stuff. That or the Sony ZV-1.

The rolling shutter is a concern for me, too. He didn’t mention it (or if he did, I missed it). the Fujifilm is supposed to be better in that regard. Are you happy with it?

This was a great comparison, would you guys be willing to do a comparison of the these two cameras along side the Panasonic Lumix DC-G100. Its under $1000 price range and it's said to be a great contender against the two cameras mentioned, which makes my purchase for a second camera that much harder lol. Im a Sony user as well.
M4/3 are bad in low light. Slower to focus as well (does not use phase detect)
I have a cannon camera that I bought 8 years ago and never used except for trying it for a couple of times; Cannon no longer acknowledges this camera on the website and has ceased all supporting software for this camera such as iPhone apps and PC software. As for Sony, I have this experience when their firmware, they limit some cool features such as maximum audio or some cool bugs; Sony also updates firmware once and for all.
replaced my EOS R for a ZV-E10. Best decision I ever made lol.
the specs on the sony makes it better. but that rolling shutter/jello effect just makes me want to avoid it.

Hello. Love the video & thks for making it. I have a question but first.... I was very interested in the Sony ZV-E10 until I saw it isn't weatherproof. I'm looking for a Sony mirror less camera with similar quality, features, weatherproofing & isn't much further up in cost. I'd also prefer 4k/60fps or higher. Any recommendations? I personally own a canon r6 with a few RF lenses. I do a majority of real estate photography. I haven’t been taking my gear on trips because I don’t want to mess around with lenses when I’m watching my 2 kids and constantly worry about where my gear is. I’m trying to find a decent point and shoot. I’m thinking about buying a used Sony DSC-RX10M4 or the Sony ZV-E10. Unless I stick with a 90D just for family outings. What do you think?

tbh it’s actually a point for sony. The m50 uses the ef-m lenses which arent really being produced anymore and also dont have the biggest variety while the sony one uses the e-mount and have a gigantic diversity of lenses even compared to the ef ones
