    Just won my first OTB podium, in a local U1500 tournament! And it's all thanks to Danya's instructive content, playing the openings Danya recommends, paying attention to active development and king safety, noticing pins and watching out for forks, getting excited about xrays and discoveries, weak squares and outposts, open files and batteries, and all the rest of the wisdom I could retain from the videos so far. Thanks, Danya!

I love e4, and I love the feeling of having a Danya inspired line to help me go through the Stafford. So these two unsound gambits getting a line like that would be awesome. same here

    • @GMBethHarmon
      @GMBethHarmon 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It shouldn't!
      Not all gambits are tricky and unsound, and giving up material temporarily for an advantage down the road is a necessary part of chess. For example, the Queen's Gambit is extremely solid at all levels, from beginner to advanced.

    • @trallegas6589
      @trallegas6589 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GMBethHarmon the queen's gambit isnt a real gambit tho,you're 95% of the time not gonna lose the c4 pawn and even if you do theres a lot of activity to show for it,my personal issue is that eventho i know when giving up a pawn for activity is the recommended or better option,i cant really capitalize on it bc im more of a slow positional player rather than a tactical one.Not saying this is in any way an arguement that gambits are bad and shouldnt be played,im just saying that its incredibly hard to be able to play them correctly(ignoring the theory aspect of openings,just assuming you play with no previous knowlege and just your own proficiency in the game guiding you)

    • @GMBethHarmon
      @GMBethHarmon 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@trallegas6589 If you feel you're a positional player, you should give the Queen's Gambit another try - while it can become pretty tactical, it frequently leads to very positional games, especially when it's declined (Slav Defense, transposition into the Catalan, etc).
      People only say the Queen's Gambit isn't a real gambit because of how solid it is (which just proves that not all gambits are made equal!). The pawn can be taken back by white within the next few moves (and if black refuses to give back the pawn, they will end up with a losing position, if white plays precisely). However, it's still a true gambit, because there are plenty of lines you can opt for as white where the pawn is genuinely sacrificed.
      Even at a beginner level, the Queen's Gambit is one of the most popular d4 openings, because it's easy to play and very sound, unlike some other gambits. The Queen's Gambit shouldn't be thought of like the Stafford or the Elephant Gambit - it's one of the major openings for d4 as the Italian Game or the Ruy Lopez is for e4.

    11.4 seconds: “I don’t even have to pre-move here”
    “we can even play fairly leisurely here” “this is an eternity”
    Sighhhhh. The magic powers of pattern recognition and mad skillz that come with the super GM/GM title.

      @@OneRichMofo no he didn’t lol. He said “really you would start pre-moving when you’re down to 7-8 seconds. And that’s what he did. He only started premoving at 7.7 seconds left

      Edit: oh well I guess he says it again while pre-moving and finishing the checkmate but whatever

    What's the other openings do you recommend for 1000 rated player with black. I always play Stafford when e4 is played. Any recommendations please

    At 2:40, can't white just play queen to f4? It blocks the attack on 3e, and seems to force a queen trade, doesn't this refute the attack?

    • @fullfat8112
      @fullfat8112 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think "refutes the attack" is going a bit far - Black certainly has options to avoid the queen trade (the knight is defended from the bishop on c8). Not sure what the best continuation for black is, but I'm sure a computer analysis could tell you

      @@fullfat8112 Oh yeah I don't know why I missed that the bishop still defends. Just checked it with the engine. Queen f4 is actually the move recommended by the engine (white has +2.2 after it, opposed to +1.3 in case the king moves to d2). After that stockfish recommends black to move the queen to b4, threatening to take b2. Then you get b3, qc5, and then the white king has to go to d2 to defend the e3 pawn. The engine still evaluates this line to be better than moving the king right away, I think because you force the queen to move to a much more passive square, avoiding some nasty tactics.
      But yeah, this is all easy to conclude with stockfish in your hands :)

    These 2 games are representative of the 1800 level chess, one game was played well, in the other game the 1800 player blundered his queen.

    Love how all the players think sensei danya is slow and when there's 10 seconds left he suddenly premoves to victory and they think "wtf just happened" 😆🤣
