Sorry to hear that, how powerful was the laser that he was using? To all viewers reading this comment, this is a great example of why you should ALWAYS wear goggles when using lasers over 5mW. Your eyes cannot be fixed from an injury like this!
@@Shonade_Malik I don't think it's an exaggeration. It was only in my eye for around a millisecond before I immediately closed my eye. If it was in my eye for just 2 milliseconds longer it would probably be permanent.
Congratulations!!! Mankind is one step closer to lightsabers. Now we need a way to limit the length of the blade so it doesn't cook eyes if you look in the beam accidentaly.
if you guys havent known it already red has the highest wave length means its brighter then most colours and can be seen more easily from faraway distances
@ps3spoiler depends what u use it for. the 1 Watt one goes 85 miles, the 500 mw goes 40ish, ETC ETC. only people around you (possibly 100-200 ft radius) around you can see the BEAM in the sky, its a very awesome thing to look at. HOwever anyone 500ft away or more cant see the beam, they can only see the dot when you point it at somthing.
Light speed varies depending on the medium. They have done science with cold gases that slows light down to 35 mph. Absolute light speed only applies in vacuum.
I don't know for sure, but I think the ocean reflects air. Air is blue, because it so happens that nitrogen and oxygen absorbs all other parts of visible spectrum, but blue.
not trying to contradict you or anything, but looking at a dot produced by a 5 mw laser will not hurt your retina, but looking directly into the beam will.

of course It is more bright then the artic that is because the artic is not the most brightest but is the most powerful. The krypton spyder laser is the brightest.
The sky is blue because of the light scattering throughout the molecules in the atmosphere, because it has to scatter through a lot but not too many molecules, it appears blue and not violet, this is why it appears red at sunset, because the more molecules the light travels through, the more the light scatters and the wavelength travels further up the wavelength scale.

What application does this instrument have on a daily basis....? My thoughts: I imagine they're expensive... what practical application would lead me to purchase one of these? Looks like it would be fun for about 10 mins.
Home made lasers are the way to go if you have the skill and are responsible enough to handle one. You can easily save yourself over $100 by building your own.
Holy crap... my most recent build was a 300mW red, and I've always wondered why it would never write on GITD materials... I still don't understand why red erases it though, but now with my 200mW Blu-Ray and my 300mW red, i can draw AND erase!
Hey styropyro, please let me know how did you build this cool Laser. Is the procedure as same as building the Blue laser? Other than the diode, did you change any component as compared to the Blue laser. Please reply.
Hope all you guys are having fun and wearing goggles. My buddy was playing with his in bed with out his goggles on and it just got out of control you know what I mean. He got hit by some stuff in his eye! He can not see out of his eye again.

Guys can someone tell me if this is safe I'm thinking of buying it, is it safe to use without gloves and is it ok that it touches your skin/eye 3500 meters small mini green laser pointer belt mantianxing laser pen pointer pen 7 small volume
It should be safe to use without gloves. But more importantly where safety goggles with a laser like that. Honestly, I wouldn't buy a laser like that's too strong and dangerous for your eyes even with safety goggles it's still a bit unsafe. But that's just me.
@LiquidSneak510 Working with lasers at above 5mw, you'll need glasses. A laser with an output power of >5mw will give permanent damage if you look at the dot when shined on a wall :) so goggles are a must for lasers at above 5mw.
Maybe some day you will get to play with LLNL's NIF? BTW c = 1 ft / nanosecond as in this video from NIF. A cool TH-cam video from LLNL - "How NIF Works."
my 405nm 5mw laser is focused, and if i start burning stuff and stare into the dot, my vision will be slightly worse for maybe 5 hours or so, maybe a whole day if i use it excessively. it's possible for the eye to regenerate after damages on your eyes by lasers but it's not 100% of the time. a girl shone a red 5mw into her eyes for a minute and had a black spot on her eye for two years but then it regenerated. there's no need to test your limits, better safe than sorry.
hey im a big fan of your videos. i recently started to build lasers and just bought a 50mW green laser module but after connecting to some batteries it didnt work, no IR and no visible light. what can i try or is the diode just dead? thanks, Jack.

i bought my first "high power" green laser at 532 nm 15 mw ?? it's brighter than the little tiny red laser toy things but now I wish I had something stronger that can burn my hand off .
Well, go to Wicked lasers, they have a lightsaber. You just need to buy a $600+ dollar laser pointer and then a $99 hilt. But it does work and it is a lightsaber.

Is there smoke or fog in the room? I can never seem to find a clear answer on if the beam is visible normally
I got hit directly in the eye with a 200mW red laser and my eyes have mostly healed. Took around a year though. There is still a spot

very nice indeed are those high brightness diodes expensive?
i didn't say that 5mw lasers would damage your eyes by looking at the dot on a wall, but any laser above 5mw, hence the >5mw, will.
i was really hoping the beam wasn't slit-shaped and was just that wide, be so cool with a super wide beam like that.

no, lasers travel to infinity...a light saber stops to a certain point which means it is not laser
