Alan Watts after all these years getting the recognition for the great mind that he was, thanks to TH-cam. Would love to know his thoughts on society now! If he was still around.

Same here! I have a feeling he wouldn't feel much different...

He would be on social media critiquing the fact that we endlessly scroll hoping to find meaning and we never do 😮

He was ahead of his time, saw things developing, so what he said then would resonate today just much starker.

Speaking of time, listening to Alan gives me insight into these times that seems so absurd, irrational and going nowhere.

There are many nights as days, and the one is just as long as the other in the year's course. Even a happy life can not be without a measure of darkness, and the word 'happy' would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness. It is far better to take things as they come along with patience and equanimity.

These truths will always be timeless and were ancient when he learned them. His power of prediction I believe is logical but abnormally accurate. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, ❤ The lens of the right brain and artistic ability.
It can be cultivated, by categorising.
      Seeing how
a door or window is like a building,
      🏢🚪🪟
a Sun is like a porch light,
      🔆💡☀️🌇
a bell with a feathered ribbon tied behind it, is like a hat, a dress or an angel with tattered wings…and only one leg 😅.

But what about patterns? I believe in them. I think the past is influential, especially trauma. To deny the past can be a way of keeping you on the same problematic path. To recognize that the past is linked to the present is to rid yourself of trauma: by facing it. Too many things that caused shame are swept under the rug and stay in the subconscious.

I also believe in patterns and trauma, but this has no influence on the fact everything is only now. this trauma / past is a memory / information in your brain in the present.
"Remmebering" or "feeling" or "uncounsciously being directed by" your trauma, all these are done in the present. The "past" is in your brain in the present.
Denying your "past", i believe like you, is a bad idea if you want to recover from trauma. But denygin this past will always just be the same as not entering the memory / that resides in the present.
A pattern is just some information keeping its value. So when our consciousness gets this information, since we already had it, we feel that something which already happened comed back. We then feel a sense of cycle and call this a "pattern".
But all this is in the present. The information resides in the present. Our counsciouness revealing it or not is also done in the present.
