To this day, Red Dead Redemption is my favorite video game of all time. Anyone who is thinking about getting this game should buy it as soon as possible. You won't regret it.
My favorite game of all time. Now I think the town Jeremy was talking about was thieves landing since he wasn't wanted. And yeah that's my favorite place in the game. My biggest gripe and this is being super nitpickey. I wish I could challenge people to showdowns. I wanna be like. "Hey you you piece of shit! I don't like the way you look at me so I'm gonna blow your face off!" Come on raise your hand if you'd wanna as well.
7th gen gave us the best pirate game and the best western game (and both some of the best games overall). Red Dead Redemption (GTA in wild west, but also a lot more than that) and Assasin's Creed IV: Black Flag (Sid Meier's Pirates! on steroids with parkour added in). Both of these are straight up amazing, and i don't understand why developers don't tackle these subjects more often, they are really rarely made.
Was it just me or did John Marston meet Satan in that Stanger Mission titled "I Know You"? I swear that guy was the devil, just the way he talked and all of the innuendos and vagueness to his speech also the fact John shot him in the back and he didn't die. And don't tell me John missed. The only way he could miss anything was with either holy or unholy intervention.
I know he was freaking creepy in his snakes well worded phrases! ReWatch the missions on TH-cam and put his comments in the prespective of him being the Devil! I looked it up and it seem everyone one has an opinion of who he is whether he is God, Death, Satan, a minor-demon, a relative or friend he has forgotten cause if you look around John's house you see pictures of him for some weird reason. Rockstar will not confirm nor deny who or what the Stranger is and I think that is on purpose, kinda fun to keep it a mystery too huh:)?!!!
if i had not missed this quest, i probs would've done something similar to kduffin33 although to suit my style, put him on train tracks. i believe the guy to be death so putting him in a predicament that almost (but hardly ever) ends in death would be fitting for a wild west game.
eh,Id give it 8/10,Doesn't give you much for being an outlaw, too easy,Buggy as hell(like not being able to rob someone, people who you lasso freeze, getting on a moving train and getting transported to outer space),framerate was a bit choppy at times, and had like 1-2 times where it "froze", you can't rob shops for the money in the cash register, and stealth is probably the worst ive seen in any game.I literally got caught behind the wall of a town when the police was on the other part of the town. And if you're big on stealth like me,It's going to piss you off,and checkpoints when you die on the open world can be hella frustrating. But decent game,Still havent finished it though
I discovered this gem only this year. What a beautiful game. Now, my list of favourite open world games are as follows: 1. Red Dead Redemption 2. GTA V (I don't care what anyone anyone says, but I didn't spend 100 hours on this game because it sucked, i spent it because I enjoyed every damn moment of it) 3. Assassin's Creed II 4. Spider-Man 2 5. Assassin's Creed IV : Black Flag
great list i didn't really like red dead redemption when i first played it i kinda stopped(because i was young and stupid) but im going to play it again i just know its going to be awesome now.
theinsanitygamers007 i had the same experience, i bought the game on release and just kinda lost interest. I then recently went back and finished and was like wtf was i thinking haha.
My favorite westerns are The Outlaw Josey Wales, The Searchers, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly and Once Upon A Time In The West. My favorite open world games are Red Dead Redemption, The Witcher 3, GTAV and Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion.
Considering it took about three years for you to review RdR 1, do we have to wait 18 months for RDR2 review? I thought maybe you didn’t like it, and since it got incredible reviews elsewhere, you didn’t feel it necessary to do a review. But, after watching your rdr1 review, again all these years later, and hearing some of things you liked about it, I don’t imagine you disliked RDR2. I’m stumped. BTW, I think your rdr1 review was the first video from your channel I ever watched and I subbed immediately. So there’s that.
I am a huge GTA die hard fan and I agree. This game beats the shit out of GTA V. The old western time works even more perfect than modern time for Rockstar.
An old cowboy went ridin out one dark and windy day Upon a ridge he rested as he went along his way When all at once a mighty herd of red-eyed cows he saw Plowin through the ragid skies and up a cloudy draw Their brands were still on fire and their hooves were made of steel Their horns were black and shiny and their hot breath he could feel A bolt of fear went through him as they thundered through the sky For he saw the riders comin hard and he heard their mournful cries Yippie i ohhh ohh ohh Yippie i aye ye ye Ghost riders in the sky Their faces gaunt, their eyes were blurred Their shirts all soaked with sweat He's ridin hard to catch that herd But he aint caught em yet Cause they got to ride forever in that range up in the sky On horses snortin fire as they ride on hear their cries As the riders loped on by him he heard one call his name 'if you wanna save your soul from hell a-ridin on our range Then cowboy change your ways today or with us you will ride Tryin to catch the devil's herd across these endless skies Yippie i ohhh oh oh Yippie i aye ye ye Ghost riders in the sky Ghost riders in the sky Ghost riders in the sky
I'm going to buy this game, but should I buy the game of the year edition or not? It's like 5 bucks more (not that big of a difference, I know, but is it even different from the normal version?). Would be very thankful for an answer. :)
For me this game has one of the defining moments of video game history. When you finally get off that boat after you reached Mexico, get on your horse and then "Far Away" by Jose Gonzales suddenly starts playing. That's like the moment you get out of the vault for the first time in Fallout 3, the sun blends and you are seeing the wastelands for the first time. Such moments I will always remember.
Dude....Jeremy,it's about that time,RD2 review if you have indeed played it. It's a monsterous hole in your gaming review section. But I guess...'That's the way it is" Just finished it myself for the first time..It was an experience to put it mildly..What a game~!!
I've had this in my games collection for years but started playing it again yesterday for like 8 hours 👍 this game is off the hook easily one of the greatest open world games👊💯 as soon as I get home I'm playing the shite out of it some more 👊💯👊💯
Red Dead Redemption man that ending :/........... just an amazing amount of content with damn near endless side quests and bounty's. True amazing game, high hopes for the next game in the series.
I think they introduced the advanced guns mostly because Red Dead Redemption is all about the death of the wild west. That's why towards the end of the game we're introduced to automobiles and modern day guns. Plus at the end of the game, if you buy a newspaper, it says that War has concluded in Europe which means it's at 1918 and that time we pretty much had planes already.
I am shocked you didn't say anything about the hunting..... By far the most amazing thing is that you can go far far out in the middle of no where and hunt, you the skin your kills and bring them back into town to sell you goods. You can make good money doing this. And depending on where you are you will be hunting different game.
Open world game? I would say Dark Souls but since the world in Dark Souls is not exactly open it's more like areas and tunnels connected together (which is great and has a great design) then I will go with Skyrim.
I don't count games like GTA RDR in same category as skyrim/darksouls yes there both open world but they are so vastly different skyrim is a more no limits literal do what ever you want in a fantasy setting as GTA/RDR is a more Realism cinematic open world. I know some people will be like well there both open world so there the same. To me at least there not. But ya for me best open world RPG: Skyrim, I love dark souls just like you pumped for DS2 but like u said skyrim is definitely more open world no limits then DS. Open World action game: Red Dead Redemption. I love GTA 5 and IMO overall best GTA to date but RDR was so amazing to me and my friends. The story was rockstars best story, best online (I know Gta online has more to do but, overall I got bored of GTA 5 online quicker then I did RDR and even GTA 4's. Even though GTA online has most content) I just loved the gambling in the game and online if Gta 5 adds that all be so happy. Of course this is all my opinion.
Speaking for myself (an admitted western fanatic), Red Dead Redemption is the Greatest Open World RPG ever made on every level. The dialogue is actually interesting (unlike so many RPGs) and well thought out. The gameplay includes every nuance of life in the Old West life and battles, including even hunting, (too many animals to name here),sharpshooting and so much more. Most hours of fun I've ever had playing any game hands down pardner! And you can play it in multiplayer which it is extremely suited too also! Not perfect but close as it gets.
In terms of open world games, it'd have to be between TESV: Skyrim, Grand Theft Auto V, Assassin's Creed II and Red Dead Redemption. In terms of westerns, Django Unchained without a doubt.
if you go to the options menu theres an option for auto aim its not called tht exactly but you get what i mean, switch that too "expert" aiming that should solve your problem
As a matter of fact yes, I am twelve. Now does that help your case? The fact that you got owned by a twelve year old? What were you trying to accomplish when you replied?
I just finished this game. I love everything about. I'm close to getting the Deadly Assassin and Hunter Outfits and I'm close to getting some achiviements. I even found the Jackelope. Great game and great story and ending.
Believe it or not, I haven't played video games since ps2 (I was in Iraq) and I'm currently waiting for delivery of a ps3 with the last of us, GTA 5 and a few others...I've never played GTA 5. Or 4. Exited to play it!
Open world games are my favorite, I just love the freedom and the amount of content you get. Some of my favorite are: assassins creed the ezio saga (2 being the best), fallout 3 and new vegas, far cry 3, prototype, san andreas and skyrim.
I’ve found myself, on multiple occasions while driving through to Mexico, playing the same song that plays after John’s first time crossing over with Irish. and my favorite western game after red dead redemption is GUN.
I tell you what would be a good three way duel: John Marston vs Blondie from The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly vs Harmonica from Once Upon A Time In The West.
One. How the years have flown by. Two. I’m one of the few gamers who played RDR2 first and am now playing this to see what happens to John. It’s amazing to see so many characters from RDR2 in this. Also, thieves landing really expanded in 10 years! Really enjoining the continuing story. Hope John gets his revenge on Dutch.
If you liked Firefly, you'll enjoy Bebop. It's more of a bounty hunter type of cowboy, not like what Mal and Serenity do. It's episodic, which should explain some of the strangeness, but looking at it from a music theory perspective: it makes perfect sense. There is a reoccurring theme through out all of Bebop. Before I get too excited, just check it out. It's noir, so the pacing will be slower than usual anime.
I CAN NOT BELIEVE Jeremy didnt even touch on the part where you first enter Mexico in the game and the soundtrack.....WOW...That alone sold me on the game!!!!!
My only gripe with Red Dead Redemption is the time period it took place in. Fair enough it was interesting playing after the West was tamed but constantly hearing about how times were different made it feel less of a western to me despite the weapons etc. For a sequel I would love for it to take place around the 1860's/70s where places like Deadwood were thriving and Natives were still running the Plains, and where the West was legitimately Wild.
RDR2 was an amazing story, the best western story ever told imo, had some beautiful moments and left me horrified and shocked at the end of the main story before the epilogue. Maybe your ending was better, but my version of Arthur was an evil guy so I got the bad ending lol.
Red Dead Redemption 2 anyone?
richard chan yep
ye..
richard chan you mean red dead 3!!!
richard Lai even though it's a prequel
yessir
Red Dead Redemption is my favorite game of all time.
I can see why.
maxammo357 fr tho
Just play the sequel bro
Wait until the year 2018
Spinosaurus1231 have you played red dead 2?
To this day, Red Dead Redemption is my favorite video game of all time. Anyone who is thinking about getting this game should buy it as soon as possible. You won't regret it.
no buy game of the year edition even better
It's amazeballs. I kept my Xbox 360 just to play it now and then for nostalgia. I really hope they give us a new one sometime soon.
It's still great in 2022. I like it more than the sequel.
Here because we're coming up on 2 years and he hasn't reviewed the sequel
its 2023 and im still waiting for his review :((
why?@@RatedRoeh
2024... Not happening
RDR will go down in history.
My favorite open world game is still Red Dead Redemption and favorite western is The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.
Same as!
i cried a little after i read you comment because i completely agree =)
ehhh
My favorite western game is always going to be Gun for the PS2
Jacob Luden That game was awful
Red Dead Redemption is probably my favorite video game.
I’d love to see an RDR2 review

I found the farmer portion of the game worked really well for the story and Marston's character. One of the best parts of the game IMO.
+ConquerorofallZombie I hated the intro farm part but the one at the end is great.

am I the only one still waiting for the remastered version?
I heard that they're announcing it at E3, but I've also heard a lot of similar stories in the past
I want a remaster,and a sequal.
BUT I WANT IT ON PC!.
I'd be disappointed if they remastered it instead of releasing a sequel/prequel.
It is false, Rockstar have never been at E3 and were not due to be there this year.
They just made it backwards compatible on Xbox today lol
7th gen gave us the best pirate game and the best western game (and both some of the best games overall). Never saw a Jeremy Jahns RDR2 review pop up in my Notifications... Still playing? :D
Rockstar should definitely make a medieval game!
Review the second one, Jeremy. That would be awesome
Definitely better than GTA V!

An old cowboy went ridin out one dark and windy day
Upon a ridge he rested as he went along his way
When all at once a mighty herd of red-eyed cows he saw
Plowin through the ragid skies and up a cloudy draw
Their brands were still on fire and their hooves were made of steel
Their horns were black and shiny and their hot breath he could feel
A bolt of fear went through him as they thundered through the sky
For he saw the riders comin hard and he heard their mournful cries
Yippie i ohhh ohh ohh
Yippie i aye ye ye
Ghost riders in the sky
Their faces gaunt, their eyes were blurred
Their shirts all soaked with sweat
He's ridin hard to catch that herd
But he aint caught em yet
Cause they got to ride forever in that range up in the sky
On horses snortin fire as they ride on hear their cries
As the riders loped on by him he heard one call his name
'if you wanna save your soul from hell a-ridin on our range
Then cowboy change your ways today or with us you will ride
Tryin to catch the devil's herd across these endless skies
Yippie i ohhh oh oh
Yippie i aye ye ye
Ghost riders in the sky
Ghost riders in the sky
Ghost riders in the sky

5 years and Jeremy still hasn’t reviewed Red Dead 2. Smh
Believe it or not, I haven't played video games since ps2 (I was in Iraq) and I'm currently waiting for delivery of a ps3 with the last of us, GTA 5 and a few others...I've never played GTA 5. Or 4. Exited to play it!
abztractbeats PLay Halo
Welcome back!
They need to make a new series for next gen consoles. RDR is without a doubt Rockstar's best series to me.
Please review Red Dead Redemption 2 Jeremy 😊
I tell you what would be a good three way duel: John Marston vs Blondie from The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly vs Harmonica from Once Upon A Time In The West.
Favorite OW Game: MGS 5 The Phantom Pain
Favorite Western: Hell or High Water
I just love this guy! Makes me wish I've got friends like him I could play and talk with on my couch during game or movie sessions.
The game sorta reminded me of Once Upon in the west
Mgen Strange I have to be honest its a film I need to see mate lol Is it set in a similar period?
+HarleyD1991 Yes.
This is the best game I have ever played. MGS4 came really close, but I got attached to John Marston.
RDR2 was an amazing story, the best western story ever told imo, had some beautiful moments and left me horrified and shocked at the end of the main story before the epilogue. Maybe your ending was better, but my version of Arthur was an evil guy so I got the bad ending lol.
I was hoping you reviewed this...awesome!
What about Red Dead Redemption II?
My favorite western movies are The sons of Katie Elder, the original True Grit, The Outlaw Josie Whales, and John Wayne's The Shootist
