      Though the motivations are different, Kefka and Thanos' story arcs are extremely similar: Both start out as jokes, but we soon realize they're not messing around. The heroes realize this a little too late. Both are so determined about achieving their goal, that they actually succeed in spite of the heroes' best efforts. And both do the exact same thing; eliminating half of all living creatures. After succeeding, they lose their drive and determination. They purposefully weaken themselves and let the heroes regroup, thinking their missions are fulfilled and irreversible. In both cases, it's left ambiguous whether they allowed the heroes to defeat them.

    They relied on Nobuo Uematsu to set the mood during cut scenes. They obviously couldn't have voice actors back then, so the music had to set the tone. That guy is extremely amazing at what he does. Throughout the whole series, I can hear a theme from VI, VII, VIII, or IX and I'm instantly feeling what I felt when that theme played during gameplay. It's astonishing.

    Final Fantasy 6 is my favorite. Especially in the SNES era, becuase then you didn't get fully fleshed characters, you got sprites, portraits of each, and no voice acting whatsoever. This made you have to imagine their movements in a cinematic if it were live action or an anime or something. You'd gave to flesh them out entirely yourself, and you grew attached to each character and felt them rather than just see them. I agree, this game didn't have you just jump in a play, it was presented to you. And I love it so much.

    FF6 is the best FF game for me because of the character stories. Celes' story alone could make for any masterpiece, but then there is Terra's whole origin, what Kefka did to the kingdom and Cyan, Shadow's whole mystery, etc. Such great storylines crammed into one game.

    I've never played Final Fantasy in my childhood, so I can base my opinion without nostalgia glasses. I've played only IV, VI and then V. As someone who really enjoys a good story and a musician who has the strange quirk of liking and listening to video game music, FFVI was my favorite one.

    Just to put the "better graphics don't equal better game or story" thing into perspective: I played Final Fantasy VI and Final Fantasy XII simultaneously...and I cared more about those little sprites and their story from VI than for any of the beautifully rendered and designed but sadly underdeveloped and completely shallow CGI characters from XII. Which also takes away the nostalgia factor for me because I played VI when I was like 24 while my first FF game was VIII when I was 15, and still I would rank Final Fantasy VI above many of today's games.

      Coming off of Chrono Trigger, I really disagree. I always wanted to play FFVI for my entire life. But I just couldnt until it became available on the WiiShop channel. I had it on an SD card along with Chrono Trigger and secret of Mana. Those were the 3 games I was missing from my RPG repertoire. I played CT, and after the first bit, I absolutely loved it, and everyone kept telling me that VI was even better, in terms of story. After a few months of playing games like Octopath Traveler and Xenoblade 2, I had down time to play VI. I spent my winter break in 2018 playing FFVI. I 100%ed the game, I beat all the secret dragons, did that infuriating tower and beat Kefka. Man, after the scene with kefka in the village killing his general, I really think the game went downhill. The characters never get their stories satisfactorily finished, everyones side story feels flat and included just for the sake of content. Compare that to CTs sidequests with Frog, or with Lucca. Those were amazing, they expounded upon those characters as if they were actors who were paid millions of dollars. I loved it.
      If I had to sum up my issues without writing a 50 page paper, it'd be this: Lack of Emotion.
      I never connected with any character past Celes, who was admittedly a great character. Locke, Setzer, Sabin... they all just feel like filler to me. And Ultros is another great example. This dude just shows up, just to show up. He has a little side story sure, but its not even worth mentioning. He just obstructs you for no reason other than adding content and comedic relief. The comedy in the game is very, well, rpgish. I can't fault it anymore than I do series like Xenoblade or Dragonquest. But the lack of moments I cared about, the lack of a meaningful motive for the empire and kefka, they all make this feel likea slog to me. Especially in the 2nd half where each, reasonably long, sidequest yields no satisfaction from a story standpoint. I'd be fine playing this game just for the mechanics, where it still usually devolves into mash a to win, ocassionally using the dragoon boots, tools and Sabins deathblows. But still that atleast has some aspects. Overall, I think this game is a staple example of an RPG. A ton of content, a serviceable story and a fairly good soundtrack, with a few gems hidden in there. But thats just it. Its a great example of what an RPG can contain, but none of those contents excel, they're generic. I think overall, I expected this game to be as wonderful as CT, or as charming as Super Mario RpG LOTSS. When it didn't live up to those expectations, it just ruined it for me... however, after that, I played FFVII. And that game was ,arguably, hyped up way more than VI for me. And i love that game. Not as mindblowingly cohesive and fun as CT, but the story and set pieces more than make up for that. While offering equal, if not more content than VI. Every character in VII feels great, and fleshed out and even fun to use. I can't say that for any other FF game, even cait Sith feels good and isn't annoying like his FF9 counterpart. I think it really comes down to that. The characters in 6 are all basic personas, with no real twist that differentiates them from a textbook version of their archetype. Except Celes. And her background isn't even that deep! It didn't take much more to make the gem this could have been shine, but in my eyes, its hidden behind what appears to be a desire for quantity over quality.

    This is the first time in a long time that i've seen a youtube comment section about final fantasy games where people are just talking about their favorites and not bashing everyone else favorite ff game.
    To me this is what final fantasy is! There is no "best" FF game at least in the general sense! We all have our favorite nostalgic FF game. To most that's FF6 or FF7 or FF10. Final Fantasy as a whole is about which games stick with you. Asking someone's favorite FF game is like asking someone what's their favorite color.
    My favorite? um i mean I liked 10 7 and 4 a lot... I played 6 before but, im too young to remember it. My favorite would have to be Final Fantasy Tactics. I Just love Ramza and the combat system.

    "The crew in 7...I love em all. But the characters in in Final Fantasy 6 I got more attached to and I was thinking 'why is that?'"
    Reason number 1: because FF6 wasn't translated by the horde of monkeys who'd just finished reproducing Shakespeare's complete works and Squaresoft didn't want to wait as long. (A lot of 7 is great, but there are large chunks of the story - particularly Cloud's past - that are sufficiently poorly translated that it negatively impacts the story.)
    Reason number 2: The technicals of FF6 (sound, graphics) are straining the limits of what the hardware can do. Yeah, they're sprites, but they're among the most gorgeous sprites to ever grace a ...what, 600x480?...screen. Yeah it's the SNES's rather limited audio capabilities, but it's the best they can do. I've seen grade 3 students draw things that look better than what FF7 makes you look at when you're not in battles (admittedly not often, though I'm also working with a severely limited sample size), and half of the songs I can think of in 7 have something i have trouble explaining (not being a music person) - too much poorly synthesized brass, stuff. Whatever the first note of Barrets theme is - that kind of horrible sound is everywhere in the soundtrack. And the game has enough quality music (the boss theme, the creepy Jenova tracks, the song that plays in that clip with Red's dad's story, to name a few) that it's very obvious that they had a decent understanding of how to make the PSX pump out decent music....honestly, on the graphics/audio level, FF7 really feels like they didn't care. (Please don't flame me for this - I enjoyed the game, but in SPITE of that. And some of my favorite games - Thief the Dark Project and Thief 2: Metal age, are truly astonishing in their ugliness, but the games are still good.
    Reason number 3: because FF6, like Chrono Trigger, ups the ante to the point where everyone has to care. FF7 as Aeris (th, whatever) dying...which is a great motivator to the 90% of players who didn't find her incredibly useless and annoying. When you kill off a primary character and part of your audience thinks "yay, I don't have to put up with her bullshit mysterious crap and running off to get in trouble anymore," you've failed to connect with that part of the audience. FF6, like Chrono Trigger, basically destroys the world. And unlike CT, you don't have the option of going back in time to a more pleasant time and burying your head in the sand and saying "it's not my problem." In both SNES games, your character motivation is something pretty much everyone (or rather, everyone who isn't a planet eating monster or just batshit insane (I don't recall if Kefka had any motivation beyond Batman's "The Joker" personality and melding it with the powers of a god and thus making the world his personal sandbox)) can identify with. (And yes, you can flame me for being a cold, unfeeling bastard about Aeris. Being a cold, unfeeling bastard is better than refusing to play hideous looking games because of graphics alone.)

    • @dionysus122
      @dionysus122 10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah.

    • @rashkavar
      @rashkavar 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ***** Personally, even the OST music sounds off to me. And the sound and graphics issues in the game are fully explainable - it's Squaresoft's first game after a pretty revolutionary shift in technology (the leap from SNES to PSX is huge). It explains it, it doesn't make it not hinder the game. (I'll definitely agree that the scenery was well drawn, if occasionally a bit too busy...but having well done scenery just draws attention to how awful those character models are.)
      And like I said, 90% or so of the people playing FF7 liked Aerith the first time through. I didn't. Partly because of the mysticism (which was partly due to the poor translation hampering its delivery - you can be mysterious without being cryptic and confusing), partly due to her tendency to leave the screen for a few minutes and get in trouble (happened a few times in Midgard, and we all know what happened the last time she ran off on her own). The character just never interested me enough to make me care. Would you care if it was Yuffie who died? Vincent (oh wait...)? For me, Aerith was just one of those characters you don't really give a damn about.
      To give it credit, FF7 took longer to introduce the first character-I-didn't-care-about (Aerith) than FF6 did. In FF6, Locke was the first character who I never liked. It's just that FF6 didn't up the ante by killing off part of its cast and hoping it had managed to get you to care about that person. It upped the ante by breaking the world (as in Wheel of Time's Breaking, well beyond a mere nuclear winter). The end of the world as you know it is slightly less easy to ignore than the number of women interested in your protagonist being halved...or zeroed, depending on how you interpret the Tifa-Cloud relationship.

    • @rashkavar
      @rashkavar 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** No, that's not what I meant. It's upping the ante. In the 3 act structure, it's the midpoint - the point where everything starts to go to hell in a handbasket. Shortly after that point, the planet releases Weapon in order to exterminate everything that's hurting it (like people), Cloud takes a bath in the lifestream, and Sephiroth and Jenova seal themselves in the crater in order to begin summoning Meteor. Other structures might call it a plot complication - basically, it's a turning point for the entire game. The whole world pivots on one character's death. To make that work, your audience has to love that character beforehand. For most people, it worked. For me, it didn't.
      In FF6, the midpoint and end of act 2 come really close together - from Kefka's escape/release from the Empire, his taking in all those magicite, creating the floating continent, the party's utter failure on the floating continent, and the subsequent reorganization of the world. I just don't see how someone can not care at that point. It's not hinging on your concern over one character, it's hinging on your concern that world-destroying magic is bad.
      And as for shocking, unexpected and ungraceful, there's a slight problem with that - it's too unexpected. Most writing, English or Japanese, includes foreshadowing. Up to that point in the game, Sephiroth really doesn't demonstrate a great deal of follow through. He burns Nibelheim to the ground...leaving at least a half dozen witnesses to tell the tale. He lets you follow him literally across the entire world, throwing bits of Jenova at you in what's more a delaying tactic than an honest attempt to hurt you. And Aerith goes off on her own all the time, and is just fine. Sure, occasionally some Shinra goon captures her, momentarily, but I seem to recall her never needing as much help as we thought she did. All in all, we've got a recipe for a whole lot of not-much-getting-done. Sure, there's something to be said for genuine surprise, but a completely unforeshadowed plot twist like that is to storytelling what bawdy limericks are to poetry, or stick figures to portraiture. (Admittedly, this gets back to my original point of translation via tired Shakespeare monkeys (read the original comment in this chain), since there probably was decent foreshadowing before the translation replaced all subtlety with surreality (and surreality, of which there is a fair bit in FF7, with utter confusion).

      I wouldn't say the Audio was an issue in FF7 (except Barrets theme which I don't think a Japanese composer knows what a Black persons theme should be like have ANY of you played Revelations; Persona OMEGALUL) like everywhere I go with the music it fits the environment I'm in and is immersive in that moment (overworld theme being my favorite) but on Graphics side, they could've done BETTER when signing with Playstation for Graphics, the cutscenes without the polygons were Gr8 (besides the Multi-changing Aerith scene) speaking Aeris, every1 loved her...for her Limit Break Healing Wind early on til those Cure Materias then it was time to kill her off..but DONT FRET SHE SOMEHOW COMES BACK IN KINGDOM HEARTS™©® that's why I'm here to learn Final Fantasy games, #1 Their Story #2 The Gameplay #3 Playing pace since I need to hurry up & finish these till I get to FINALLY PLAY Kingdom Hearts 3 (From roms - Switch/Xbox)

    My first FF game was IX, and while I don't think it's the best of all of them, it's still my nostalgia-ridden favorite. Honestly I don't think I've played a more beautiful game than IX. It also gave us Vivi-- and that's all I gotta say.

      kcsoup3 my first rpg was ff8 and 7 i bought them by accident , it was a bargain and i said it got 3/4 discs so that should be worth the money, i start ff7 and i could not understand the system and it was not very nice those cube instead of hand, so i start with ff8 and little by little i learn, i get to the end and got crush by the boss cause i didn t level up, i didn t use the GF s and i miss most of the system , but i finish the game, before i used to play survival like resident evil or silent hill and some adventure action, doom, duke etc but i start really to love that new approch of game as a story where you evolute, etc after that i played mostly rpg s and peeled my eyes for the next coming out of a new final fantasy, the nine is beautiful, a bit too short but really nice, princess garnet is as nice as lady yuna in ff10, and yes vivi was the greatest, oh i really wish that square enix could do rpg like that again, it don t have to have a super graphic quality, an hyperrealistic look , but just drawing 3d s like in ff7 8 9 or ten , with a real meaning full story, , with a maps and a colection of aeons to get allong, with princess to save, ans caracters that make u laugh or cry, with baddies, fat evil queens or evil little kefka, please please please squarefuckin enix, give us another god rpg and no more soup like ff13 or 15 that got nothing but the name but could be called devil may cry or onimusha , please go back to the roots of rpg , if i want to play a good action rpg i still have parasite eve 1 &2 i m sorry to complain so much but really could they do those rpg we love , or is it so impossible,

      +THO games Be glad you didn't have to put up with the PS1 version. The loading times and altered sounds ruin it, (funny how something that small can severely tarnish a classic). I also wouldn't get the PS1 release of Chrono Trigger. Again, the loading time, although short, is very annoying, especially if you've gotten used to versions that don't have that. His work to me is incomprehensible, from the simple yet beautiful Grand Finale on FF6, to the sit back, Fishermans Horizon on FF8 and of course, Dear to the Heart on FF7. His work is consistently beyond belief. Thank you, Mr. Uematsu. Your music makes me dream. A great review, I finished it for the first time 2 days ago. I agree 100% with your review. The game truly is a perfect representation of the RPG genre. It is packed with so much emotion for me that I still tear up when I think about the game; Sabin and Edgar's coin toss, Terra's coping with a ruined world, Celes' moment of vindication in the opera, Shadow's relationship to Relm, the list goes on. I could write an entire book about the deep philosophical undertones in the game. Sometimes I have loaded even heavier on the hyperbole when talking about it with friends. I think FF6's OST is honestly one of the best pieces of music ever created. Not just video game music, I mean to say that it will stand the test of time as a piece of genius composition. If they ever recreate it I am sad to say that they will probably not realize what a masterwork they would be translating and would choose to take liberties.

    • @amanojacka1283
      @amanojacka1283 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      20 years ago I used to wonder if my hyperbolic praise of FF6 would prove later to have been hyperbole. Now I've stopped wondering. Nothing has ever come close to it in my mind, at least as far as how the music conveyed the story. Nothing has ever been as moving (except FF4, though it's in a different way; FF4 was less about story and characters, more pure simple epicness).

    How time flies... When this review was uploaded, I was in Afghanistan. The algorithm just recommended it to me, nearly two years after hanging up the uniform for the final time.
    I guess I'm a bit older than some, having been in middle school when the first Final Fantasy released over here and pouring over the Nintendo Power guide for that game. I rented it a few times but found it extremely difficult. It did show me that video games could be much bigger than I thought. Years earlier, I was amazed when I jumped on the flagpole in Super Mario Bros., only to enter World 1-2. I was familiar with Atari games that were largely one screen and maybe four levels, not side-scrollers with 32 levels. Final Fantasy was much the same; I finally defeated the Vampire, then found that the world was much bigger than the inland sea areas of the initial quests.
    Final Fantasy II was much more fleshed out, but still very much rental territory. Regardless, I spent countless hours playing it and felt a bond with the characters unlike any I felt with the Warriors of Light from the first game. Then came FFIII. I had a job, regularly bought gaming mags and saw the omnipresent ads in those and on TV. I didn't know what a moogle was, but Mog seemed like a vicious little creature. When it released in October 1994, I picked up my copy and proceeded to binge the game. I had a couple of unofficial guides and used those to make sure I didn't miss anything, though I made a few mistakes. RIP, Shadow...
    Maybe it's nostalgia, but to me FFIII/VI is the best JRPG released. It's not the longest or the most convoluted, but it combines the mastery of late-SNES RPGs with the complexity of games that would come much later. Final Fantasy VII was good, but it marked the end of my days as a voracious video game player. Family, work, and eventually the military ensured that I'd never again have the hours to spend staring at pixels on a screen. I played VIII-X and XII and liked them (especially XII), but just couldn't relive the days of playing FFII and then seeing FFIII for the first time.

  • @modsleix6

    I'm so glad that my first RPG was FFVI. Got a used FF III (VI) SNES copy from a guy who used to trade games years after it debuted but still well before VII debuted. Never played a FF game before and had no idea what was in store for me but, once I got into it, there was no turning back. I became a FF fan from that point on. Since then, I have played almost all the main games and I can honestly say that VI is the best for me of the 2D era games. My favorite FF of all time are VI, VII, VIII, IX, Tactics and Tactics Adv.... Spot on review man.

    • @michaelgroesbeck8850
      @michaelgroesbeck8850 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Locke & Shadow are brothers. Shadow was the friend that Locke believed was imprisoned by the Empire. Locke was also scripted to give Shadow the most attention out of all the characters....they just didn't have space for the story.
      Furthermore, the Relm-Sketch-Gau glitch.....was 100% intentional. Why? Because Gau is crazy....& Relm just sketched crazy.....& she's a girl that likes dogs...& he's a boy that is basically dog....
      I'm pretty sure Gau huffed like a dog with his tongue hanging out & she thought it was cute....(& apparently sexy, cuz she's somehow aware of that shit as was indicated when she called Edgar "Lover-Boy" when he revealed that he got information from the maid he slept with)
      Wanna know something else that's crazy? Final Fantasy 6 is not actually Anti-Christian.....because it they knew the audience would understand how Kefka violates what's most beautiful (cuz we all know he not only destroyed the world, but before that he sexually abused Terra....Terra = Earth, World = Terra, violation of the 3 goddesses, Light of Judgment "coming" out of a filthy phallic tower....I mean come on....) & once he's defeated, all pagan gods & mythological creatures die & the world.
      But get this, the 3 goddesses are not immortal, so they are not really gods. Also, MAGIC in this game, is a scientific fact (in game). That means GOD exists in the game (but it's a Deistic version where he doesn't involve himself).
      So magic hasn't actually disappeared....it's just that the funnel for magic has been closed off. Also, the warring triad is based upon Japanese gods. The Goddess is their female sun deity.
      Furthermore....Dissidia. All the characters are resurrected & dimensionally transported.
      Now get this, that pretty Cosmos girl....she set the whole thing up....cuz she was bored. It's Chaos who is actually angry that "Cosmos" set the whole conflict up. You see, Chaos is suicidal & self-loathing while also seeing everyone else as abominable, so he may want to destroy everything, but it's really to liberate everyone from the prison that SHE created.

A definite classic, with some of the best RPG storytelling ever.

    I was so glad about the way you described the opening scene. Whenever I talk about the game, and why it was so special, I have to gush about the way I felt during that scene. When they marched toward Narshe and that amaaaaaaazing song played and the credits rolled, I felt something I'd never felt playing a video game. It was stunningly cinematic and gave this sensation that I was in for something truly special, something epic on a scale I didn't know a videogame could be. I'd never heard any other reviewer or friend focus on the impact of that scene until you did and it's nice to know it hit other people the same way. It was one of the most impactful and memorable moments I ever did or will experience in a game.

      Remember, she was the one who stayed with Cloud when he was messed up on disc 2, and she just seemed to care a lot about people in general.
      If you can look past her OMG-boobs for a while you will start noticing that she actually was a character with a personality as well.
      Even her theme song signifies this, it doesn't sound like some cheap porno music or whatever at all, it actually sounds melodic and beautiful.

    I guess I was ~14, 1996, when a friend of mine came with an a loooot of US-games on a SNES-emumator. I did own a SNES, but they didn't release FF6 in Europe, noone knew of the great FF here and i started it more or less randomly out of a list of 100+ games. I was stunned by this game, my first game with a lot to read in english, didn't understand some passages and yet... I loved it, i cried during the opera scene and replayed it, I still know every characters theme, I still get thrilled by the boss theme, i still get emotional when i hear terras theme. I was so proud and at the same time sad when this adventure ended. There is an emotional bond to this game which i never experienced again, and i played a lot in my life. This is a masterpiece, thanks for this experience.

    FF 6 on the SNES is truly amazing. I played it when I was a kid and it was still relatively new on the system. I had no idea what I was in for, and after that, I searched for the rest of my young adult life for an RPG that gave me the same feelings that FF 6 did. The only game that has come somewhat close was Zelda:OOT on N64 (which I also purchased the day it was released).
    Still though, I have yet to play a game on the same level as FF 6 on SNES.

    FFVI has stolen much of my life. You asked my favorite FF but they're all good for different reasons. We won't know for sure because people discriminate. I liked the story behind FFVI the best out of the series but riding a dragon had a great feel in FFV. It's also possible to beat the games without evaluating its content. There's nothing wrong with a legitimate review but it might be better to ask why people play in the first place. Fantasy has the advantage in its genre of providing something we haven't seen before.

    One of the beautiful parts of the game is making every character feel central to the game.
    FF7 for comparison centers on Cloud even though there is a spell where you don’t use him at all. FFVI you start off thinking Tetra and Locke are the main characters and it will be centered on them (Though I will contend that if there were to be central characters, it would be Tetra, Locke and Celes) the game does such a beautiful job of making all the characters feel so meaningful that they all feel central in some way or another. The fact that he brought up Shadow, who on the surface wouldn’t seem like someone who doesn’t have anything special going for him story wise, actually is a fairly deep character.

      Twenty After 4 It does have flaws such has strange controls an enemies way to powerful in the early game. but I have actually enjoyed doing the deeper floor dungeon (can't remember name of place haven't played in awhile) and one of the best things a Final Fantasy game can do is let you customize with classes like X-2 does.

      Blackestfang It was actually the characters that bugged me when it came to X and X-2. I (for the life of me) just couldn't relate to them. In all honesty, the only FF I enjoyed on the PS2 was Final Fantasy 12, but even that one had its own mixed reviews (the real time battle system being a big one)
      Final Fantasy Tactics did a beautiful job with the class system. Sure, the storyline was a bit short, but the pure scope of parties/skills you could customize was hours of fun.

    I think VI is great, but IV is my hands down favorite. It's the game that made me view myself as a gamer and that made me want to be a writer. I think large part of that has to do with the fact that I got so into the music, characters, etc. for that one, much as you are describing here. Also, I didn't get to play VI when I was a kid / teen the way I played IV (no net back then and I didn't realize it existed until years later! I remember wondering why we went from 2 to 7 and then learning a III (which was VI) released and I missed it. Anyway, great review. :)

      4 was a fantastic game, especially for its time, but it doesn't hold up compared to 6 in terms of depth.
      It was one of the first RPGs where you had characters with actual stories beyond "go get the crystals" though. Kain, Rydia, Cecil - all fantastic.
      I particularly loved how Cecil gets a redemption story halfway through the game complete with a class change - Cecil Dark Knight becomes Cecil Paladin!

    People are going to think I'm nuts, but FF8 is my favorite. I played it during when I was 13-14, so I was a young guy trying to understand people and the world. To me, it had all these different characters and beautiful cutscenes and a love theme that I think kind of help shaped who I am today. I think the best storyline goes to FF6, best game overall goes to FF7, but most impactful to me is FF8 :D
    FF6 is just full of surprises. From Shadow's past to Celes' attempted suicide to Edgar/Sabin's relation, and of course Kefka's uprising. It's a great game really, and YES I would prefer it over CT, even though CT is officially my first RPG game and I absolutely love it to death.

They were the last FF games that were recognisable as FF games - FFX was the shark-jumping moment(easily my least favourite FF) and it's drifted further and further away from what the series should be ever since.

Give someone who can actually produce good shows with a story as complex and intriguing as the Vampire: The Masquerade world is, none of this "sexy vampires who sparkle" bollocks. My first RPG was FFX when I was like really young. I mean, I´m not even sure if I myself played it or if I just watched obssessively as my two sisters and my dad played it, though, by now, I HAVE played it myself (seriously I have the soundtrack on my phone (which I listen to once in a while), basically know the storyline AND most fiends by heart). Thing is, I love it so much I nearly cried when they gave me the Remastered version for my 16th birthday a little over a year ago. I can definitely relate to the nostalgic feeling and it is most definitely my favorite (although this might also be because of the simple battle system). Either way, I haven´t played FFVI yet, have only started to play FFVII, sadly enough the disc for FFVIII I have is scratched, FFX2 and FFXII were impossible for me, and FFXIII...well there´s nothing particular to say about those but I had to mention them. Watching this video has finally inspired me to actually delve into the dearly loved Final Fantasy series once again and actually finish the games I´ve started and maybe start those I haven´t (like FFVI, which is sitting right next to me as I type this, courtesy of my oldest sister, and FFXIII Lightning Returns.)
    So, thanks Jeremy!
    Also, who is your favorite Cid? There´s one in every main Final Fantasy game. Mine is Cid Raines from FFXII, probably because of his cold personality (I´m weird and don´t actually remember very well)
