I've been playing games ever since the late 90s when I was a kid. Played many great games like Chrono Trigger, Zelda, Super Mario, etc. But RDR2 has to be the best game I've ever played in my life. No other game even today is as feature rich as RDR2 is, and not to mention the top notch story that had me crying in the end. Simply a Masterpiece. God of War winning the GOTY award in 2018 was nothing short of a robbery.
Bruh. I just played it yesterday after playing starfield and asked myself how is this game so freaking good that you can sell this shit again in the market and people would buy it for retail thats how good rdr2 is.
GOW4 is another one of my all time favorites and it is a fantastic game, but I agree, RDR2 is on a whole other level. There's no game that can compare to it
@@jasoncarroll4463 I just started playing RDR2 a week ago, and it's amazing. The only game I can say is similar in scale would be Balder's Gate 3 and Zelda Tears of the Kingdom in terms of freedom and things you can do, but in their own category.
When joe talks about being able to feed people to alligators or kill people, he makes it seem like thats why people play it. Most people played rdr2 for the story and beautiful scenery and not to fill some murder fantasy
Seriously, my motives for playing red dead isn’t to vicariously live out some psychopathic murder fantasy, definitely not. Most people aren’t bloodthirsty psychopaths, we just enjoy gaming. I play it because it’s an absolute masterpiece, beautiful game with great story, great characters, utterly immersive and enthralling. I don’t think i’ve ever cried from a video game, but red dead 2 turned me into a bitch. The game is so incredibly full of detail, committing heinous acts is only a small part of the game and they’re mostly optional, during the story Arthur does not want to kill in cold blood. And I can’t remember if they mentioned the honor system or not, rd2 gives the player lots of opportunities to do honorable acts and do good things. They overlook the parts where you do kind favors for people, you go out of your way and save peoples lives even people you don’t know. They overlook the part where Arthur finds Edith Downes and apologizes for what happened, then insists they take money and get out of there. The game is so much more than grand theft horse.
Video games don't make people violent because of violence; it's that they change people by making them more compulsive, self-centered, unempathetic, and less productive. A model citizen doesn't become worse with gaming in moderation, just as a mild smoking habit would not change them. The people who are most affected are those who have past trauma or current difficulties that turn to it as a coping mechanism where the unhealthy habits develop.
It’s my favorite game of all time, and makes me just think of what Rockstar can do with GTA 6, considering that GTA 5 was built for the 360 and PS3. It’s going to be fucking insane.
They're not voice actors it was motion capture so by saying voice acting you're essentially undermining their work. All the characters mannerisms and facial expressions are the actual actors themselves.
RDR2 is probably the closest thing we'll ever get to a true West World experience. I don't think I've ever felt more immersed in a world and setting than I have playing RDR2. The complexities of the world and the astronomical amount of choices a player has gives the game a kind of emergent narrative I simply haven't experienced anywhere else. I've spent entire days just foraging and hunting in the wilderness and came out of it with a handful of experiences and events that I couldn't replicate again even I wanted to, and that's something really special.

Not to mention Arthur being quite the progressive character. He doesn't really hate the feminist lady (the player does) as you can greet her and leave with a positive interaction, but he has nothing nice to say to the eugenics guy.

budibausto so now we need to censor history just because a few loud sensitive people can’t handle it? Unfortunately those are the people that stand out, but there were worse things that happened than what’s shown in this game. Get over yourselves
RDR2 was a way to express yourself. I went in convinced I'd be a hardass gunslinger without a cause beyond living another day. I came out rescuing star crossed lovers from a family feud, meeting a nun who made me cry and lament over how Arthur just never forgave himself for a lot of things, and lastly: I loved my horse, the scene with Arthur soothing her as she died. Llamrei, the rare white Arabian. I can't do a second playthrough to this day. There were so many epic moments, so many laughs and so many tears. Arthur Morgan and John Marston are both well written. They epitomize heroism and badassery.
For anyone who doesn’t play the game and mis understood the part about killing the woman activist for women’s sufferage. The game does not promote you killing her and condones the behaviour. The game puts her in the game so you can help her. She asks you for help and the game promotes you and rewards you for helping her. The game allows you to punch and kill any character in the game it is not only the woman’s sufferage character
Very important to remember that you could literally do this to almost every existing character in the game. It isn't like the game is coded specifically for that interaction to ONLY happen when the suffrage woman is given to the alligator. It could be any npc, you get to do almost whatever you want to in the game.
I've been playing it for 4 years and I still love the game to death. I have put countless hours into it And I am currently on my 7th playthrough trying to achieve 100% for the third time.
Rdr2 softened me up man, I’ve maybe gotten watery eyed from a few movies, but man this game got me very emotional for some reason. It made you miss Arthur like an old friend. It was something else
Dude honestly I just teared up today when I had to rescue Mary’s brother from the chelonians and I chased down the kid until we got in a standoff and he said he didn’t want to live anymore. Instead of killing him I disarmed him then brought him back to his sister (Arthur’s former lover) and it was just so gripping man. One of many moments that are just incredible and immersive. This game is soooo much more than just violence and that’s not why I play it. I actually did the honorable thing to do and I spared the kid by disarming him. This game is beautiful, I have high honor Joe relax. Even if I did a low honor build it’s correlation at best, not causation. The game can’t turn you into a psychopath directly
This game was amazing in so many ways. You can get so lost playing it, and it's massive. Truly one of my favorite games ever, and of the saddest games as well. What happens to Arthur, it makes you truly feel awful, and start to think about mortality more with your own life. You talk to a nun about your character's mortality, and it's absolutely heartbreaking to see the collapse of the gang and Arthur's ending that you know will happen. As another TH-camr said, he might be the best fictional character ever. You believe he's a real man, and it really makes you think.
That is true, and I get the Ledger Joker reference there too. The disturbing thing is that women voting is now perceived by many guys as a negative, due to all this feminist shenanigans. Whereas equality should be embraced, feminism is about female superiority, coupled with a we don't need men attitude. The feminist propaganda only invokes hostilities, and does nothing to better relationships between the two sexes. There's a lot of errors out there. Sometimes people will heavily rebel against one error, and end up embracing another.
The guy in the flannel has a “smoker mom” face (imagine him with long hair smoking 305’s). Joe just needs a joint in his hand and and a very choppy goatee, and a more aggressive voice.

Those horrible things have consequences, and the game shows you that they don’t go away just because you have a change of heart. Still it shows you what happens when you make good choices about what really matters. It’s a morality tale that anyone can relate to.

The thing that makes this game stand out from most (bar perhaps gta 5),is the fact that the npcs all go about their own lives, if you stand by and watch them all, its as if the whole city (st Denis) is a real functioning city, the whole place is bursting with life. The game is so immersive. Credit to rockstar, the love and care that went into this, and the story is damn good also, and with a character like Arthur Morgan, it sucks you In even more. I've played both gta 5 and rdr2, like most I imagine, but for me, rdr2 is more then just game.
Some people don't understand the difference between deliberately designing a part of their game to do "x", and designing a game whose mechanics allows you to do "x"
Rockstar did make that mission in GTA 5 though where you literally have to torture somebody. The point is though, it's not real, it's just pixels on a screen.
Easily a top 3 game of all time. Great story writing, solid characters , cutting edge graphics and just all around amazing gameplay. You cowpokes agree :D
Actually even with all the glitches ,woke crap and things that were just plain idiotic in it, I still enjoy the game and am doing another play through now.
Love how they talk for nearly 10 minutes about Red Dead Redemption ii and hardly even bring up the humanity and morality aspect of the game. They just make it sound like it’s meant to be played as some brutal serial killer game. In reality Arthur is really meant by Rockstar to be a good guy. True you can play as a savage, but the intention is that he ends up being a pretty honorable guy. A little grey to start off, but he ends up being the hero in the end.
@Bored Again nah you can go around doing good deeds that alter the story as well, like doing charity work in St. Denis for the Nun and priest, or helping natives being pushed off their homeland by the cavalry. Those are just two examples of the many good deeds you can do as Arther

I dont think rockstar was being bold with racism and some other aspects in the game. It's just the way things were in the time the game's taking place in and its trying to be as true to life as it can be for story and immersion's sake
Exactly! All these people, especially Feminists and SJWs, blowing up over the presence of misogyny and racism in the game, when in reality that's just how it was back then and it's all present for the sake of historical accuracy. Players engaging in these acts do so of their own volition, and Rockstar has no hand in condoning their actions. The players are simply given full freedom to do what they want in the game (within their capability). Any attempt by Rockstar to limit or control this would be perceived as censorship, which would be just as bad as any racism or misogyny the players could engage in. Rockstar was right to stay the course and err on the side of what their customers want. SJWs and Feminists were pissy that Rockstar chose to be apolitical and enabled this level of player freedom, and even suggested "a system that tracked player actions and penalized players who engaged in certain immoral actions" (which would be immoral in its own way). To be fair, there is an in-game consequence for killing, but it's completely neutral, and the fems want special punishment for certain actions like killing the Suffragettes. Rockstar chose to give their player base free reign, design a good game, and not get "woke" by sucking up to people who won't even buy the game in the first place. EA tried to get woke and push that agenda in Battlefield V, and now look, BFV sales are in the shitter (to be fair, talking shit to your CUSTOMER BASE doesn't help sales either)

I've been playing games ever since the late 90s when I was a kid. Played many great games like Chrono Trigger, Zelda, Super Mario, etc. But RDR2 has to be the best game I've ever played in my life. When joe talks about being able to feed people to alligators or kill people, he makes it seem like thats why people play it. Most people played rdr2 for the story and beautiful scenery and not to fill some murder fantasy
Awesome comment
You say that but I just wanna be a cowboy

RDR2 is probably the closest thing we'll ever get to a true West World experience. I don't think I've ever felt more immersed in a world and setting than I have playing RDR2. Not to mention Arthur being quite the progressive character. He doesn't really hate the feminist lady (the player does) as you can greet her and leave with a positive interaction, but he has nothing nice to say to the eugenics guy.

RDR2 was a way to express yourself. I went in convinced I'd be a hardass gunslinger without a cause beyond living another day. Llamrei, the rare white Arabian. I can't do a second playthrough to this day. There were so many epic moments, so many laughs and so many tears. Arthur Morgan and John Marston are both well written. Nicholas Lammle YES! YES! Spot on!
I dont think rockstar was being bold with racism and some other aspects in the game. It's just the way things were in the time the game's taking place in and its trying to be as true to life as it can be for story and immersion's sake
I think he meant bold due to how overly sensitive people get now a days over anything that touches race.
EA tried to get woke and push that agenda in Battlefield V, and now look, BFV sales are in the shitter (to be fair, talking shit to your CUSTOMER BASE doesn't help sales either)
yup, we live in a bullshit time where you cant even portray a different era of history accurately without people whining about their feelings getting hurt. Soon we wont even know what life was like back then because all video games and movies will be about black lesbian cowboys.
@@Nantosuelta it's insane when people can't even portray historical context without someone throwing a fit about anything other than it being historically accurate. The femsseriously tried to whine to rockstar about it, when the original controversy was over what the PLAYERS were doing (rockstar doesn't incentivise it either). And they wonder why people are getting off beating up feminists in the game..........
Racism was way more rare in the old west dumbass!! Nice try moron!
Once my horse got shot in mid of nowhere, I literally just ran to the town to buy medicine and stole another horse back to save him.
Due to my sons love of slow rides and trains ive gone through dozens of horses
Darrell Poitra lmao that’s cute! 😂
Man, on my first playthrough, I had a horse that I tried to keep for the whole game. And I remember, I jumped from a bridge once, and my horse was almost dead, and I was in the middle of nowhere, so I walked to Valentine, bought horse medicine, and then went back to my horse to revive him (took me like +20 minutes of just walking 😃)
anything to save the horse
On my first play through my first good horse died because I was checking out an area near a train track and my horse walked onto the track while a train was coming and it just immediately died
As someone who has struggled with anger issues in the past.. video games prevent you from killing yourself or others. not causes it.

Red dead redemption 2 is the best video game in history. From characters, story, and graphics to world, nature and gameplay it’s all unmatched
I agree one of the best

Man, Red Dead Redemption II is such a masterpiece that they talked only about the possibilities of the open world and didn't talk about the story and the main character's arc that is heartbreaking as the same way is wholesome. So many positives things to talk about this great title
They don't know about our guy Arthur just yet. You gotta go threw the journey with him to know how we feel
And they dont even stop there. Rockstar decided to give you the full online experience with regular updates (up until 2021 I think) besides having such a great story for single player. And even your online character has its own story to play.

Susan Boyle they got the vote in 1920 in the US. 1918 in the UK. WW1 ended in 1918.
Empty Caskets they only publicize the negative. The game is set in a era where it was about survival, and it’s a game about outlaws at that. So I don’t understand the controversy. People are way to sensitive now.

The violence is optional and a whole lot of incentives in the game deter you from it. “High honor” gameplay is incredible, and the story/acting is out of this world. Senseless violence and whatever else that they are complaining about is less than 1% of what makes up the game and experience.
