There will always be room for belief, and there will always be room for doubt. It’s almost as if someone wants us to make the choice for ourselves! Thanks for the videos, brochachos

I like groups research different models, but I think the BYU scholars do a great disservice by only looking at one model especially when commerce existed between both main models and Moroni at the very least, clearly had buried the record where Joseph received it. Regardless of model, influence is clearly in both locations, bust as far as cities? Perhaps the geography looked different then from how it does now.

When in doubt, follow the Apostle James counsel, sincerely, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God who giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not, and it shall be given him" James1: 5,, this scripture had turned my doubts as a converted L.D.S.

Nahom must refer to the convergence of the White and Blue Niles.
When Lehi said he went South then East, he is explaining he followed the Nile to the convergence then he followed the East Nile to Ethiopia. The East Nile is the Blue Nile. He was commanded to migrate to Ethiopia in the Tree of Life Vision.
Ethiopia is the Garden of Eden according to Genesis 2:13. The Tree of Life Vision was a map out of Egypt and up the Nile to Ethiopia.
Nahom is an Ethiopian word. Baby boys are named Nahom all the time in Ethiopia.
Omer made the exact same journey in the Book of Ether.
Northern Arabia is the Land of Ishmael from the Bible. The son of Abraham. There's Ishmaels ALL OVER the place.

Please stop calling it Americas. Lehi went to ancient America and likely landed in FL, location of the oldest Hopewell site.

Right. So, instead of calling it the Americas, it is the American continent. Depending on who you ask, that is either one land mass or it is 2 continents. South American from my understanding, considers it as one land mass.

In Dec 2021, Elder L. Tom Perry said, "The United States is the promised land foretold in the Book of Mormon-a place where divine guidance directed inspired men to create the conditions necessary for the Restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ. It was the birth of the United States of America that ushered out the Great Apostasy, when the earth was darkened by the absence of prophets and revealed light. It was no coincidence that the lovely morning of the First Vision occurred just a few decades after the establishment of the United States."

Yeah, they were on the run after leaving Jerusalem, killing a dude and stealing his golden plates, had left the luxuries of life behind, but they decide to stop, carve a gravestone for one of their deceased? That makes zero sense. Why would the residents of Nahom use the name if no one stayed there? Did he write it on a billboard? The name Ishmael is a common as the name Robert or Joe. That would be like discovering a headstone with the name of Robert Smith and thinking it was the guy from the Cure (he's not dead, but it's a really common name). There's no DNA evidence for the Book of Mormon, but there's a random headstone with the name Ishmael on it. Desperation.😂😂😂

Well, Nahom is like 750 miles south of Jerusalem and Ishmael died years after they got the plates (which were made of brass, not gold). They weren't in a hurry anymore. Granted, Ishmael is a common name, so it's not a promise that this gravestone is his, but it makes sense that they would make a grave stone for him. He was the father of half of their group. They were well out of Jerusalem and no longer in a hurry, and they loved Ishmael, so of course they would take the time to make a gravestone. You don't have to believe this, but please don't try to wave it off so easily. It's a lot more complicated than you think.

The DNA evidence argument is very stale, and has been addressed extensively. I think it is one of the weakest critics' arguments against the BofM.

Think of the times when Nephi's two eldest brothers and the children of Ishmael tried to kill Nephi and return to Jerusalem.
The first time was when they had just gotten the family of Ishmael out of Jerusalem. Maybe a day or two had passed, and wanting to return, they tried to return to their hometown. The second time was after they had buried Ishmael in Nahom.
If you look at the approximate timeliness given in each chapter heading, you'll see that since Lehi first left Jerusalem, Ishmael died about eight years later.
Eight. It is most likely that Jerusalem had stopped looking for Lehi, who the people had wanted to stone to death for prophesying about Jerusalem's downfall, and maybe also for the death of Laban. As far as we know, no one but Nephi, his brothers, and Zoram are the only individuals who know about Nephi killing Laban. Labam's guards could have guessed that it was Nephi and his brothers who killed Laban after Laban had tried to kill them twice already. Or they could have guessed that it was Zoram, who had the keys to Laban's treasury, and that the brass plates were missing. Both individuals are suspects.
So, while Jerusalem was under seige from the Babylonians, Jerusalem could only search for Laban's killer suspects for so long that they would have common trails to be searched.
But nearly a decade has passed, and the Babylonian capture of Jerusalem has probably already happened.
In 2nd Nephi chapter 6, Nephi's younger brother, Jacob, says hie God had given him a vision of Jerusalem's fall, and the scattering of the Israelites, and he foretells that after a time, they will return to Jerusalem in time to see their Savoir in the flesh. This chapter takes place 51-55 years after Lehi left Jerusalem.
Alright, let's go back to when Lehi's and Ishmael's families are at Nahom and bury Ishamel. Nearly a decade has passed, and surely, Jerusalem has given up on looking for Laban's killer; after all, they're under seige. If Nahom truly has is of a land where a tribe called Nahom, or however this video says their name is, then they surely would have town there. A town also needs a cemetery. That's where Ishamael's burial site takes place.
And thanks to Nahom being a town, there are roads to and from Nahom. Laman, Lemuel, and the children of Ishmael now know where they are. They simply have to ask which road to take to Jerusalem, and they're scott free.
And hey, another question: How could Lehi's family travel theough the wilderness and not get caught? If they had used roads, Jerusalem guards would have found them. So that is what the Liahona was used for. The Liahona provided them a path to follow. Fires were forbidden because it would lead the guards to them. Under the direction of the Liahona, guards won't be able to easily track them, and Laman, Lemuel, and other rebellious individuals would get lost after a week or two. The most they'll have is where the sun rises and sets to tell them where Jerusalem is.
That is my answer to your question regarding why they Lehi and his family had the time to stay in Nahom for a brief moment while they were supposedly were being followed for killing Laban. And yeah.
I hope this clears your doubts. If it doesn't, pray about it to see whether it is true. I've found it to be true myself. Either I am 100% correct, or I'm in the ballpark.
I cannot be certain of these events. But as I said before, the spirit has said this to be true. May you doubt your doubts and assert historical facts, and the scriptures to be your guide regarding these things.
And I say these things to be true in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
