I have a photo of me, Archie, the elders and my nieces at the DC Temple! He did baptisms for some of my family members and we all had such a lovely experience. My friend Ramatu can’t swim and she was terrified that Archie will not support her back properly and she will drown. It took a lot of convincing to get her to trust Archie for her first ever temple baptism! 😅😂 Thanks for sharing your testimony Archie!

While in India, April 2006, I was introduced to a marvelous people. Remember the words of Mahatma Gandhi, “I love your Christ, I do not love your Christians, They are so unlike your Christ.” Be the Christian you are meant to be. As a priesthood holder you will have many opportunities to bless the people of South Central Asia. Allow the spirit to guide you always. May the Father always bless you. May the Master’s grace and mercy always be upon you.
    Your brother in Christ.

Tons of LDS in India. I went on a business trip in Bangalore and there was a huge ward across the street from the building I was visiting. It felt just like back home, but everyone but us were Indian and they played church cricket, not church basketball.

I can feel your Spirit so strong - I had that from day 1 when I prayed to know which church to join so I would know what to teach my babies and then the missionaries came to my door in answer to my prayer - and after I was prepared by studying on my own to the point that I could go no further. Almost 34 years later I still have that spirit. I know the gospel is true. I know this church is true. I know that we have a living prophet at the head of this church. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior.

    Archie,
In what way do we interact with Hindus that would create bridges between us? What similarities are there between us? What questions do Hindus have that we may have the answers to? What can we learn from Hindus?
I don't know if there's answers to these questions because you mentioned you weren't really religious when you were younger. But I've been fascinated with India for quite some time. I'm excited to see the gospel spreading there.

When it comes to tough pieces of church history, we can't forget this is also human history. God directs but humans act and humans are also imperfect. I doubt we'll find human history in any organization or civilization without mistakes and corruption. Its going to happen every place humans touch in one form or another.

If we use that logic. The prophets were teaching doctrine that was contrary to gods law (treatment of blacks/slavery)
What is being taught now that is contrary to gods law? We've established it's possible.
So what can we pray and get an answer from god that the prophet is doing wrong today?
Really easy to sit comfortably in 2024 and say that most of the church history was incredibly racist. More time of Nelson's life has been in a segregated church than not.

@@TheSandyStone perhaps this rationale is the intent behind an omnipotent God.. knowing that a catalyst for an apostasy can not be achieved in a a system without supposed faults and blame.. how can someone apostasy without first finding fault.. let them apostasy.
Conversely, in this offense, which is what man deems offensive, let God gather and show forth his power.. in other words, He knowing that you would say in your unbelief, this is not the work of God!! therefore it is wisdom that the offense should come first then the gathering, then God shall say, it was I who did gather..!! that you can not say , there is no offense therefore what hath God gathered?

And the prophets never taught slavery as a true principle, but a temporary ban on receiving the priesthood.. which they were free to go elsewhere. There were more popular and fitting black churches in that day no doubt.. second, we're talking about a handful of blacks that we're affected.. it's not as if they were flooding in as a people group..

Its amazing just how much Hinduism has influenced the new testiment apostles, especially Paul.
Yo Archie, when you discover the theological history of Joseph, then much moresoe witj Brigham, you will see many similarities.
You will also discover how our theology is heavily borrowed from Hermes Trismegistus and other Hellenist beliefs.
Dont turn your back on the Hindu. We owe A LOT to them!!

I have this question for Archie what tenets of God's truth is shared between Hinduism and the Church share? I found it uncanny that the Hindu concept of "Brahman" as cloud like figure that we strive to be one with. This cloud seems to correlate well with the book of Ether and Israel's wandering with cloud in the wilderness.

The Bible and Torah teach clearly about the purity of God's holiness and the necessity to worship Him in spirit and truth, without mixture of pagan practices, false doctrines, or worldly influences. In Deuteronomy 13, we are warned not to follow false prophets, even if their signs or wonders come to pass, if they lead us away from the true God of Israel. God's word is consistent: He will not tolerate the mixture of light with darkness (2 Corinthians 6:14). The message you shared about the infiltration of darkness into Christianity and patriotism aligns with the biblical call to be holy as He is holy (Leviticus 20:7). The spirit of Jezebel, witchcraft, and false prophecy must be rejected in favor of pure devotion to the Lord. Jesus Himself warned against false teachers in Matthew 24:24, saying that false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs to deceive even the elect if possible. Concerning Your Conversion I understand you’ve converted from Hinduism to LDS, and that can be a life-changing experience. But let’s consider what the Bible says about following the true God. Jesus made it clear that He is the only way to the Father (John 14:6). Salvation is not found in a church institution but through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. In Galatians 1:8-9, Paul warns against accepting any gospel other than the one preached by Jesus and the apostles, even if it comes from an angel. This is critical because the Bible speaks against teachings that add to or contradict the Gospel (Revelation 22:18-19). When you align with the teachings of the LDS Church, you must ensure that it aligns with the Scriptures and does not lead you into false doctrines or a mixture that corrupts the purity of God’s word.q The idolatry that God condemns in the Bible is not only about statues but about elevating any belief system, person, or nation above the truth of God. If we are trusting in human institutions, leaders, or movements instead of Christ alone, we are falling into the trap of idolatry (Exodus 20:3-5). The spirit of this age-whether through political patriotism, false religious movements, or compromised doctrines-is deceiving many, leading them into a false unity. But God's call is to repentance and faith in Christ alone, without compromise (Romans 12:2).
Therefore, if your conversion has drawn you into a belief system that mixes true Christianity with man-made doctrines, you must examine your faith through the lens of the Bible and turn back to the purity of God's word.
