Setting up a blueprint system first, and sending blueprints would be the way to go I think.
The fact that the gaps make a pair of eyes on the Batwing at 12:08 just absolutely makes the build.

I feel like there needs to be a way to share ship builds where people can select ships they'd love to see flying around in their own galaxy
Like they have for melee maps, an online browser would be sick ad
They could take a note from Subnautica's time capsules that way
Thats such an amazing idea! Have like a social store or something where you can upload and people can purchase the ships others make (for credits not real money booo microtransactions)

@@Owlberightback perhaps someday there will be. You know how big game releases go these days... Get out what's acceptable then sell more features in dlc later.

Now wouldn't it be nice after all that hard work Bethesda considered. That we would like to save a template of the ships we took so long to build. So that we could get these ships back in new game plus without spending potentially hours to rebuilding them. Also a simple share code system so we could recreate ships easily others have built.

I would love to see a capital ship expansion dlc where you can build huge capital ships, complete with new ship building parts,that stay in space that you can either dock your ships with or in a hangar.

Ship creator is one of the best features of this game i hope they add DLC with land vehicles or mechs using that system.
That ship builder. I’m glad I waited a fortnight, modded my star eagle a bit, but avoided trying a custom till today. I just overwrote the razor leaf to build a Star Wars ghost. It handles like a tank, rips through shields in seconds, terrifies enemies and I’ve still got plans for future hidden enhancements. Love seeing everybodies work, may this ship builder community grow and grow.
Two ships that I am surprised to not see yet... Space Battleship Yamato, and the Firefly.
I know that is going to be the two I start building once I pick up the game.

My fav is the Normandy, but all builders in this vid are worth to be mentioned!
The Expanse ships I’m looking forward to seeing: the Arboghast, the Agatha King, the Weeping Somnambulist, the Chetzemoka, and the Donnager.
Gotta say that halo themed pelican has got to be my favorite. Amazing to see the creativity among the community members. Awesome video man!

Everyday, im blown away by these ship designs.
"I CANT STOP MYSELF" felt that. once I beat the game legit once I opened up the console and gave myself a million credits for ship building and I literally havent stopped since. build ship, go do vanguard mission so I can fight a space battle; repeat.
I've wasted probably about 10+ hours in ship builder trying to redesign 3 of the ships I've "acquired" since I've been playing and end up cancelling my changes. I can't seem to find a design that I'm satisfied with. I think part of the problem is I seem to be fairly limited on which parts I have access to install. I guess I need to put some more skill points into ship building.
Focus on setting up your Outpost. The outpost ship builder has a much more extensive selection of parts available.

How dare you not include the floatin schlong
i would like to see the Destiny from Stargate Universe, but i'm afraid it might be too big of a ship, so maybe instead i would like to see the pyramid ships in Stargate SG-1 instead, the hatak class is fine or maybe even the cargo ships, but they would need a functioning ring transporter to the surface of every planet, or just a Asgard beaming function added to the ship.
It's sad that you will lose the ships you create when you go in NG+. Especially when you've put in a huge amount of time in the ship builder...
That’s one reason I have a dedicated character for rushing the main game ng+ cycles and 1 dedicated character that does everything except the main quest. I want to be a normal dude doing space stuff and keep my ships/gear/outposts.
So... if I had to pick one, I... just can't. I love all of them. From the cool ''serious'' ones. To those that are built in a, just because you can, kidna way. Gotta give Bethesda praise for the, the whole game, but in particular, the ship builder. When I first took time to learn that function. To then realize the freedom we have. Just awesome!
There’s a lot of cool ships here and it’s amazing the imagination of some ship builders. I wish the game had an import/export ship feature.
I look forward to seeing what else ballisticshark will create in the future. Especially after the DLC and creation kit drops so people can start making custom parts.
I won't lie, after my first day of SF I haven't done much with the main story after visiting New Atlantis. Just upgraded my cargo and aesthetic of my ship and became space trucker. Life good lol

These ships just make me wish this game was multiplayer, it would be amazing to come across some of these incredible builds in the spaceports

When people build spaceships in the shape of an "L" they are making use of how the game's AI aims their weapons which is to calculate the center of mass. When built in the shape of an "L" the enemy usually misses.
I think it would be amazing if you could do a mod like space engineers where random encounters can happen. They take player made ships that they hand pick from the community and make it to where they are randomly encountered in the game. So much possibilities just with the community
I hope they add a ship naming mechanic and a quest where you can get your own star station that can build even bigger ships and house crew.
What do you mean with "ship naming mechanic?
What about a minigame where you are a worker at a ship building facility and you have to build ships as requested by clients until eventually you can own the place and upgrade it
@@OokileyGMR ships already have names. Why can’t you name your own ship? Or at least rename it.

Got two ships I'm rather proud of. Both are C class. Both are built for convenience and are simple to walk through. Neither one requires a ladder besides the one that would lead to the loading bay or docker. Both of them are LEAN. I've made sure that aside from decorative structures, not one part would be in excess. And even the structures themselves were added with a consideration that they would not diminish performance.
One is a massive cargo ship, which started out as nothing more then a frame with boxes and the bare minimum necessities to have it count as a "ship", but as I expanded the ship, I ended up refining the looks and utility till it would become a BEAST of a ship. Now, it has a cargo capacity of 54600 with 360 of that being shielded and can reach the 130 speed cap. It has been outfitted with a med bay, all in one berth and a workshop, so it can be properly used out in the field, unlike its original form. The biggest downside of this ship, is that it has a fat 0 in mobility. But I've learned that this only means it turns "slowly". To compensate for its lower mobility, I decided to mount two full sets of turret based plasma weapons and have several of them face backward to give this ship the best coverage it can get. The last set of weapons are simply hard hitting forward facing plasma cannons. A very capable ship despite its downsides. Real proud of how this one looks too.
And the other is a tiny and deadly ship, built to hold the most potent arsenal I could think of all while boasting a workshop, med bay, crew quarters and can have a crew of 8. Doesn't sound like much, but the thing is, this thing has maxed maneuverability, jump range and 150 speed on top of the strongest shields. That's right, a C class ship with 150 speed. It has a relatively small footprint too, being 24m long and 19m wide. Had to sacrifice a bit on cargo capacity, only having 1520 and no shielded cargo hold, but considering its focus on speed and combat, that's still a farcry better then the starter ship. It COULD hold more, but increasing the cargo holds any further would reduce the ship's mobility. Sides, I have my cargo ship for hauling junk. As for looks, it looks a little plain, but I at least made it look sleek.
That Republic Consular-Class cruiser at the start is incredible. 20/10!!!
I would love to see Captain Kirks USS Enterprise or even the Death Star. That would be sick
These designs put my ship to shame I was simply extending and upgrading the frontier alittle, now I need to create something just as good as these for myself.

Ship building is totally out of control, I love it 😂 I don't have enough money to build one yet, but how do guys even make those crazy designs? You need to start with a base ship, and just modify it, right? What about parts? Do you just go around to all the different port guys, and buy all the different components? 😱
Certain ports have special parts like the headquarters of each manufacturer has the larger hab pieces like 2x2,2x3 and 3x3 habs and certain engines, reactors, grav drives, cockpits and shields have to be bought from specific ports but you can access all the base level parts of all brands by building a landing pad at an outpost. You need a base ship to start with. Personally I like to start with the Mantis' ship the Razorleaf because it causes Spacers and some pirates to flee from you on sight which is quite entertaining when you've built a massive class C warship and useful if you've built a small fighter. No matter how you change the ship it retains that effect. I basically scrap the whole ship and start over from a landing bay.
Most common parts are available in an outpost shipbuilder pad. You have to go to special vendors for a few special parts/habs if you want them, yes.

@@Nightscrawlerif you play the crimson fleet quest line you’ll have 250k creds from the last mission no matter your decisions. Also you gotta level up ship design to get the best stuff

Once players realized the enemy ships aim for middle of the players ship, they will use that to their advantage.

The Expanse is the best space Sci-Fi show since Battlestar Galactica IMO.
The larger the scale, the easier it gets to build something smoothly shaped, because the individual parts contribute to the overall shape to a much smaller degree. A true challenge is to build something sleek under 30 meters of width/height, without snapping tolerance cheats.

About the Expanse - Some people are put off by the first few episodes. The show starts very "small", so people go "Wth is this, CSI in space?! LAME!"... Don't get fooled, it gets bigger and bigger - It will blow your mind!

Wish you would make a small series out of this, showing off player-made ships...I'd love to share a couple of my designs but I'm not into posting on reddit.
I've built a Stroud ship that is very easy to do, and simple to a point, yet more beautiful than other ships in the game. The front seems like that 90s "shark-like" BMWs with a thin nose (like the 850i model), so cool

I created a ship called the behemoth, a class C ship that almost takes up the enite screen not very fast, but fitted with 6 auto alpha turrets, 2 front, 2 sides, 2 in the back, the top damage missiles and alpha beam cannons, i literally grav dive to a system and all enemies get oblitrated before i even fire a single missile.

I made a ship and tried to make it so it covers the gas tanks, shueld generators, and shield generated cargos so that they would not be seen nor targeted with Strauss parts. Afterward I noticed it looks so much like a turtle, so i colored it green.
I know the purpose of the hallway fighter. Spiffing Brit recently revealed that the AI always shoot towards the center of your ship. This thing almost never gets hit lol.
I tried to make a realistic ship with this trick doing a Star Trek type design with two engine nacelles raised way up to lift the center of mass above the main section of my ship. But it is really hard to do diagonal wings and make them look good.

I hate that you can't choose stair locations or interiors.
Most ships looks ok outside but are a chore to move about inside if you stack several levels.
You can stack companion ways to make a single ladder area
@@thewickedjester7495 That may work, but on most designs I don't want to sacrifice 1x1 space for that. Plus I hate the companion ways. Just wanted the ability to choose ladder and door positions.
What I usually do is put a bunch of hope-tech hab joints where ai don't want ladders, but not an option for small ships.
press G on any of the blue areas to ass another hab using that point as the connector, that's how you force ladders and doors into specific spots :)
@@andrewg4412Nope, couldn`t replicate that. There seems to be no way of forcing a ladder to be on one side or another, nor its direction, on a hab.

I saw someone in another video made a ship that very much looked like a oversized semi truck . Giving new meaning to the term space trucker .

This reminds me a lot of the spore community ship creations. There were some sci-fi inspired designs, and then there were stuff like Giant Jesus on a cross, and of course a Sandwich ship which I actually used myself for s while
the issues with the mods that remove the ship size limits is they dont do anything to fix the fact ships over a set size cant land at places
Most of the way through and I still couldn't decide my fav... until TAILSPIN!

About the Titanic: is something REALLY iconic when it sinks the first time out? Infamous, sure, but I would think that the ship that has never sunk would be the iconic one.
15:10 Battlestar Galactica build got not enough attention for how good this is. This is perfect.

Also, I think the BIG Spaceship of ballisticshark around 20:00 ... I can be wrong, but it reminds me to one of the possible final Forms of the Space Ship from the Game Darkstar One. Even the Colors matches, and in it's final Form, that ship was a BEAST! :D

The trucker one is from the film Space Truckers. Its an early 90's film about space truckers. Has a good cast, and a fun watch. =)
I tried making a Pelican-inspired ship from memory. It just looks like a big toad what with all the guns on the roof but I kinda love it. Lots of cool designs here. Though I daresay ship building has not gone far ENOUGH as I could see 100 more designs.
The X-Wing is one of my all-time favorite ship designs ever. There is the N1 as well. Imagine if someone managed to created Slave-1.

I found 2 advanced weapons at level 9 and 13. The first was the Regulator then a Bridger. I also got a Legendary Explosive Refined Equinox at 14 or 15.
