Facts I got a c class ship with 2800 sheild , 3200 cargo and 700 fuel with 97 maneuverability and 3 auto helion beams and 3 regular helion beams and it is a goat
Highly suggest trying it out some time. It's a lot of fun. You go to class C for the reactor, engines, and the weaponry. You don't have to build big to build class C either as it's all reactor centric. Building a small mass ship with C class weapons and engines makes for a very powerful and maneuverable ship. Building a cylindrical design and placing turrets around it with one weapon on each angle (top, bottom, starboard, and port) gives you 360° angles of attack to allow you to continue dps during evasive maneuvers. For active weapons, missiles or particle weapons on the forward mounts like in this video are ideal and you can get extra utility by having EM weapons in weapon slot 3 for boarding. So much fun
I'm building a flying, hairy space-vagina. The hair is the weapon mounts. And like a hot-dog down a hallway, you won't feel a thing. No. Really. You're invincible. Enemies fire at center mass of your ship. But you just lay there and take it. No one can satisfy you. Because no shots ever land. They all fire into the open space of your star-beaver. You could build a space doughnut for the same effect, but Starfield could really use some seasoning.
I completely rebuilt the Frontier. Now it looks like a cross between a Y-wing and the Enterprise. Top speed is just shy of 200, with solid maneuverability, shields, and fire power. I only use particle autocannons and rockets atm, due to reactor restrictions, but both do solid damage to both shields and hull. For some reason I can't find a single B-class that's better than my A-class Tokamak
For anyone really interested into building your own ship with these specs, but not listen to all the video with all the comments on how to play the game (Great video for beginners by the way!), here's the parts list: - SF20 Sheared Flow Reactor -> Doesn't seem to be the one he uses, but not mentioned. Will update. - SGD3300 Grav Drive - Assurance SG-1800 shield Generator -> Go to Deimos in Sol for weapons - 4x Supernova 2000 Engine - 2x Atlatl 270C Missile Launcher (range + power) - 2x PBO-300 Auto Alpha Turret (good damage) - 2x Dragon 261 SX Laser Turret (good range)
How do you add missile capability to a ship that doesn't come with it? I added the horizon weapon mounts, and the 270c launcher, but the ship still doesn't show missile capability and I get an error.
An advanced piloting tip I think a lot of people neglect -- thrusters. If you have thrusters, you can use them while turning and it'll let you do drift turns, so even low mobility ships can have a much, much faster turn. You unlock thrusters with Rank 1 of Piloting, on PC, you use them with Space + WASD
dose that actually make any difference though? i know you can add thrusters and that you use them to turn. but dose more thrusters make you actually turn better?
@@njipods Yes it does. The thing is however, if you're running a ship with mostly turrets? The fights play out themselves anyway, and you "drifiting" with thrusters will make little to no change in the final outcome. As long as you fly around, you should be fine in most systems as majority of enemy ships will be that much weaker than yours anyway.
Using boost to drift helps avoid locked on missiles@@MrQwertyman111 , it's not so much about 1v1 or 1v2 it's when you have 4 or more ships that it becomes very helpful (in my experience).
Console commands for these? same as the cycling targets I don't know the console commands for that and I don't think we actually have them bar pressing A
I spent around 6 hours total designing a battleship that is inspired by the Federal Corvette/Anacodas from Elite Dangerous, and Moff Gideon’s cruiser (I forgot the class name of the Imperial ship.) I must say it’s the most rewarding think to fly something you designed. I probably spend half my time just looking at it and walking around watching my 8 crew team 😅
nice! tbh, I hadn't thought of doing that myself, but I really like that idea. My current beastly ship was made by taking a stroud-ecklund conqueror and stripping it of most of the superfluous crap, putting in the hab modules I wanted, giving it a better reactor and grav drive, and then strapping the strongest weapons I could find on it. It's a class C with mobility of 93, and is capable of 2-shotting the otherworldly ships. lol
The best way to build a ship yourself. I bought a ship with a C36 reactor at Tayio in Neon. And this then as you have done here, rebuilt to my taste. Also 2 times PAR weapons taken and missiles. In addition, also the shield to maximum. No energy problems with a C36 reactor. On very heavy no problems against a significant undernumber of enemy ships :) Makes fun
Yeah on very hard no matter how good your ship is three enemies are the maximum you can take on. Space combat isn't really that refined in my opinion. Is that the best reactor? I picked the best one available in my outpost. It has so much power but I always take more
@@requiemagent3014 lol no you can take on way more than that on very hard. Just need skill high. And of course the hidden ship equipment that boosts shield regen for example. If you can't take on more than 3, you need upgrades and skills.
I tend to switch ships a lot. As it turns out, my favorite combat ship is a tiny scout ship that I built out from the parts of a captured Crimson Fleet ship. It is literally just large enough to be functional. The problem comes with how cargo is transferred between ships. So, I embraced the concept and built a massive ship with 18,000 base cargo capacity. It cannot fly. No weapons or shields. I just make it my Home ship, dump my cargo, and then switch to another to go exploring with.
I thought of doing similar but the damned system on Xbox shifts the current cargo to your home ship when you switch ships here so if I have say 4k+ cargo shifting down to a fighter with 200 cargo can really stuff me up and atm having to dump things in the Lodge's "bag of holding" infinite storage safe to be able to actually move since still working on a cargo depot to dump everything at. Though saying that the Cargo link system is driving me insane with it being finnicky
@@iongriffis2435 If you transfer to a ship that has less cargo capacity than your current ship has cargo items, it will still get all the cargo, it will just be severely over-stuffed. His 18,000kg cargo hold will transfer to the 200kg fighter and leave his fighters cargo hold at 18,000/200kg.
Basically the only thing he can't do is salvage destroyed ships/mine in space if hes not in his 18k behemoth. When he switches to the ship to deposit his cargo, I think he means dumping the items he collected on his person, not transferring cargo he acquired in the other ships cargo hold. It would be preferrable though if the ships cargo hold's were separate. There would be more of a reason to have a cargo ship and a sleek fast explorer/fighter. I mean, what he does works as long as he doesn't mind not being able to mine/loot in space.
I have had the the Mantis from level 8 onwards, gradually altering and upgrading it along the way. Currently level 54 and it’s a class C ship now, capable of handling everything. And it’s completely my own build. Looks not so hot, but works so well !
@@NoodleKeeper It really takes practice to nail down the combination of aesthetics and function. My biggest problem was I would always get the ship to look how I want, then had to find somewhere to stick the grav drive, reactor, fuel and cargo modules and it was hard to make the ship not look stupid. It's much easier with big ship designs, you can literally hide all of those things within the hull. The deimos/stroud mid bracers are godsend structural components when you want to make "hollow" areas of your ship to stick and hide all of those components. i.e. my ship now is essentially 4 decks high. However, all my habs are on one deck. I build a 2 deck hollow "nose" on my ship that houses the reactor, gravdrive, fuel tanks and cargo. Its all hidden with bracers and other structural components. One thing I will say to make the journey easier, is build a outpost with a star port. While the star port will not have all the specialty parts for each manufacturer, what it does have is ALL of the structural components, basically all the parts that make it look like a ship and not a stack of boxes. So I suggest going to the manufacturers to get the habs, engines, landing gear, landing bay, cockpit, docker you want. Then take it to your star port to lay on the aesthetics.
Using thrusters to maneuver ships during combat while.boosting and at max speed will almost make you 360 turns in a second or so, I usually use it for 2 seconds or so otherwise I over turn
Avoiding auto combat if you take the razorleaf from mantis mission, strip it down too bare minimum and switch wpns too disruption beam 3300s you will have a ship with 100 mobility and 150 speed that outranges almost everything in game. You can kill level 100s at level 12 when the gun opens up in shop. You will need starship design lvl 1 too get the mod option.
Found that liberating the claymore III's from high level systems tends to be my preferred route. The 3's come with a default 38 (Before skills) points of power in their reactors
This is one of my favorite ways to get a ship skeleton as well. Ecliptic Claymore III. If I purchase a ship to use as my starter, I like the Star Semi from hopetech. It stinks at the start, but it’s really easy to get looking good and upwards of 10k cargo with 100 mobility.
@@jacklhasa Mine started out as a Claymore I (i.e. plain Claymore) but it has been changed rather drastically. Now has the top reactor, a shorter fuselage, entryway in the nose (I hated that mid-point entry), on-board workshop and all-particle beam armament (the turrets from the original as well as those mean A-class particle-beam cannon that only consume 2 points of power each. One of these days I'll ditch that useless "brig" in favour of two 2x1 modules. My Razorleaf I left as a B-class but with the 401DS reactor (39 power) it's actually more capable than the C-class Claymore, only cargo capacity is missing. 6 Particle-beam cannon and two sets of Atlatl 280Bs for melting enemies at range.
@@LeifurHakonarson oh yeah, I modded the crap out of mine. Several times now. I tend to grab one on each playthrough. My new favorite to rebuild is the Star Semi. It has be bout in Hopetown, and it costs a ton to build out the way I like, but it’s so good when completed! 😀
Agree Narwhal master ship, not to mention I'm pretty sure that ship is the most expensive being like nearly 450k and if I remember right it has a bigger cargo hold but I could be wrong I bought it, and never looked at the stats all I did was get a better gun on it XD
i thought the narwhal had 1,760 cargo and a 995 shield? the stronghold has 2,360 cargo and 1,600 shield. Can the narwhal be upgraded in those 2 items to meet or exceed the stronghold and keep it's firepower which is naturally superior?@@Phantasia100
Hello, thank you for your valuable information. I purchased a Stronghold Ship and completely modified it. The ship came out beautiful and you would not know it was once a Stronghold. I added your recommended weapons and added a lot more storage. By removing the cows and fake hulls. I added a complete workshop and medical room. I would add a picture if I could.
Vanguard have the best shield and guns. There guns might not look strong but use low amount power so my vanguard frontier has 6 pratical and 6 balastic guns. You can melt through enemies with volum of fire.
@@Andrewza1 I have a flying wing design I built with all vanguard weapons. It's nicknamed the Deleto Dorito. Most things melt in like 5 seconds and can take out at least 3 ships in a single boost pass lol. I have a class B version called Mini Deleto as well that absolutely will wreck anything thrown at it but also has a very high boost speed so I can enter and leave engagements as I please.
Best ship for me is the free C class you get from the Overdesigned quest. Since it costs nothing it leaves tons of resources to upgrade weapons and engines which is all it really lacks
The only thing I don't like about my Kepler R is the fact that I don't get to blow up the bitch flying her R and telling me it's shit.... she jumps out before I can.
I like the kepler R. It is free and so built up you can take it apart and build the ship you want. You get extra money toward the designing of your ship by dismantling the pieces you don't want. The fact that this ship is free and you can build the ship you want out of it, this is a great base to build an OP ship.
I built my ship with three slim lines connected to max out height, width, and length. The targeting AI for enemies aims at your ship's center of mass which, when built correctly, is empty space and their shots miss about 90% of the time. I've had 3 enemies in close range shooting at me and I'm regenerating shields
Stronghold is a great choice I was tempted by the sheer amount of shield this thing can have too but opted for the Narwhal by Taiyo in Ryujin Tower just for its insane reactor and double engine setup
@@fabiangomez357 A stronger reactor means more hull points (tankier) and more reactor power, which means you can keep more systems powered up at once. This generally means you can have more and stronger weapons without depowering your engine and slowing yourself down during combat.
@@fabiangomez357Your reactor class decides what class everything else can be on your ship. A better reactor with more power also means better weapons, better engines, better shields and a better grav drive. Basically its the most important component.
Marvelous, simply marvelous. Really, one could simply just use the reactor, shield, and weapons as the base and use any form of ship to meet your mission. I love the industrial design of this. It screams junkyard battleship and I love it!
I love using the narwhal from Taiyo on neon. It was much more expensive than this one you chose, but I will be trying this one out in the near future as well and comparing.
I bought this ship about three hours before I found your video. It was purchased as a cargo runner for some of those contracts, as well as to better facilitate my mining/extraction operations. Because of those extraction Outposts I have more credits than I will probably ever need but I cannot stop the extractions. It is a weakness. So, I decided to build my industry. I thought the cargo capacity on this was great. Sadly, I wish there was a way to walk through the ship before purchasing. The layout of this ship is an absolute maze. I much prefer all the other ships in my fleet. I will try to complete all the upgrades you list and maybe I will like it better. If nothing else, it will help me learn more about ship modding and building. Despite my not liking this ship, your video was great. Thank you.
I am not gonna lie the silent runner I have I feel like it’s the best ship in the game that you can buy. At least I mean it starts out with over 6000 cargo capacity but that’s just my personal opinion because I prefer the really massive ships that aren’t very mobile but can haul anything
I made my ownship. it has 5000-7000 cargo depending on crew. it maxes out on the length of 80 meters. 85 mobility top cruising speed is 150. 3 obliterator turrets, 2 suppressors and 4 missile pods, a massive shield that is 1k-2k depends on crew. amenities of the ship, 2 all in one berth, living quarters, mess hall, workshop, infirmary, cargo hold, engineering bay, an a good door and ladder flow...
I just spent a while completely rebuilding the Frontier into an absolute monster that can do almost anything. I have two configs I can swap between pretty easily, one that’s relatively fast and maneuverable, and another that has 6000 cargo and can jump like 29 LY.
I've enjoyed tweaking a particularly attractive UNSC frigate build I saw and making use of Vanguard obliterators and a Vanguard shield module. Between particle turrets, missiles, 6 obliterators, and a much beefier shield than my current other options provide (at lvl 24, even with rank B unlocked, breaking 1000 shields seems difficult without the Vanguard items), I think I'll do a decent job. Plus I have over 3k cargo and still have around 75 maneuverability.
I started off with a Narwhal. I ripped off the weapons, and replaced them with 8 particle beam turrets, by getting 4 of the best available, and the next tier down. I theoretically have a couple guns still, but even this ship's beast of a reactor doesn't have the power for them even with Vasco's help. Instead, I keep full shields and both turret banks at full. This leaves me with four pips toward engines. The only other significant change I made was add a couple cargo pods. Since, like you, I'm leaning into the flying fortress motif, speed really isn't my thing. Gotta admit, though, space combat even on Very Hard has become rather easy.
Kepler R is another good ship with very high cargo capacity, and it's 100% free! You get it from completing a mission for Walter after progressing far enough into the main story. Beware that you have to make the right decisions during the mission or else you will get stuck with the smaller and inferior Kepler L, maybe save before doing the mission. Without spoiling too much, do everything optional during the mission and encourage everybody. (You'll know what I mean when you get to the mission.)
The only time I've heard of the Trek is a tier list mentioning where it's sold and it looks nice XD . If people are calling it strong then they must not have put a lot of time in shipbuilding. Fortress is a beast and with player modification you can basically solo the entire combined navies of all factions in the system. The players have gotten insane with their builds. Below is how to exploit the part list for items that require skills you don't have, if you don't like exploiting then don't look and wait for beth to fix it. 7:50 Select a part from the list, don't let it connect to the ship, press S and move down the part list until you get the part you want. Will still need the creds to buy it.
This is one of my favorite ships visually. While I love each shipyard's aesthetic I have to say I really appreciate the utilitarian look of this ship. Also Stronghold is right. What a beast.
Oh I noticed this but at Hopetown the ship services vendor actually sells what looks like a variant of the ship called the Highlander. I believe Stronghold is a better ship statwise at same tiers but for collectors (especially people like me who like Hopetech's aesthetic) it's a ship worth keeping an eye out for!
Oh. I just noticed you didn't mention your upgraded Reactor + Mounts for the Missles. You can move your Shield Generator to the top of the Reactor - To make room for another Cargo hold on the other side.
Great vid I also went for the stronghold for my first c-class big ship it’s a great all rounder. Don’t know if you’re aware but the ship will turn faster when your engine is at optimal power, it’s indicated by the little white edges on the power readout that you highlighted.
The best ship in the game is really what you build with maxed piloting and starship design, at level 50+. The best ship parts unlock at a certain level and I THINK it's 50, not sure though. Anyway, I bought the crossbow and slapped all of the best parts I could find on it. It probably cost about 700k to do it that way, maybe 400k if I started with a cheaper ship. But it looks amazing, has a 29 LR range, the best particle beam weapons (7 of them, 4 in one slot and 3 on the other), and the best EM weapons. 10k cargo, 40 max power reactor, the best shields (1600 shield health I think), and it still has great maneuverability and top speed. It also has a nice flow to the interior, there's only 1 ladder so it's not confusing, and it has a mess hall, all workstations, a massive bridge with 4 crew stations and a ton of other crew stations via control room and computer room. You absolutely hands down can not beat that with a purchased ship. The only downside is you have to fly to multiple locations to buy all of the best parts, and it will take you many hours to nail down a design that has everything you want while still looking good.
1- the vanguard autoprojector deals way more damage than these turrets, being cheaper in power and being just better than 99% of c class weapons 2- the star Eagles is literally free, even being a a class it still has 29 power 3- the stronghold is NOT the most powerful ship, the most powerful is the narwhal being sold for 400k in the taiyo industries, it has 36 power and comes with a better shield, you can just think and copy the star eagle design only keeping the reactor and the shield from the narwal I would make a vídeo on how to make the best ship but unfortunely i dont know how to make good youtube videos
Autoprojector initially is the best DPS wise (506 dps from 6 projectors vs 406 dps from 4 turrets) but you can actually buff turrets by leveling up the automated turrets skill on top of particle beams skill to make them eventually better. They are not the best initially, but you can bake them the best.
@@TheSometimeAfter yep, at least I saw it raising damage after upping both skills. I mean, why not? It is logical, isn't it? The same as when you level up both ballistic and rifles, for example - ballistic rifles get both bonuses
I find the auto turrets are sub optimal. If you use the regular version of those particle beams they do far more damage and you can spam them with no issues
Well, by the time I started seeing the Stronghold available, my own custom ship was already better by every metric, _so..._ The Kepler R is probably a solid alternative to most premades, albeit with the habs & engines swapped to your liking.
On console to bring up the menu to see parts that can be placed on a blue circle. Hold both triggers and then click A. PC has a separate keybind which is just g, however on console I'm sure many of you have noticed if you hover over a piece your ad option when clicking a turns into the grab and move it around option. The game doesn't ever tell you, but if you hold both triggers and then click a, while looking at one of the blue circles, it will bring up the menu and show you all parts that can be added to that snap point.
Avoid damage and build a hollow square. The hit box is dead center of the ship for NPC targeting, so they'll miss you most of the time and the few hits that you take are negligible.
if you do the quest for walter (after agreeing to do more work for him after his story quest) to help design a ship for his company, convince the project lead to throw huge funding into it and get everyone to compromise on the design you get a ship very similar to this (i would argue potentially better just going by memory) and you get it for free.
only problem i see... you do need a level of turret skill (tier 4 tech) to use the turrets. I saw a lot of videos going back and forth on it - and after testing i'm seeing it is actually required. even then they sometimes bug out so i tend to avoid them anyway. otherwise... top notch vid! I've been subbed & lurking since early mount and blade 2... always nice to see a new video come out.
Actual best in class ship weapons in game since yours seem to be lacking: *Note*: I calculated in terms of DPS at max energy cost for that weapon and tested with max skills in those weapons. My damage calcs are increased by 5% for each weapon type because I have 1 magazine for each except in ballistics. Missiles: C-Tier - ATLATL 280C: ~2,256 HULL dps + ~1,513 SHIELD dps, Range: 6,240 (this thing is bonkers, nothing even comes close) EMP: A-Tier - Nullifier 1750: ~524 EMP dps, Range: 1,040 Particle Beam: - Non-Turreted: B-Tier - PBO-175 Auto Hellion Beam: ~871 HULL dps + ~871 SHIELD dps, Range: 3,900 - Turreted: C-Tier - Obliterator 250 MeV Alpha: ~961 HULL dps + ~961 SHIELD dps, Range: 4,225 Ballistic (not counting unimportant shield damage): - Non-Turreted: B-Tier - Jishaku AlNiCo RF Rapid Railgun: ~1,019 HULL dps, Range: 1,300 - Turreted: B-Tier Jishaku Fe RF Rapid Railgun Turret: ~852 HULL dps, Range: 1,625 (The Marauder 115N Railgun Turret does 11 more dps, but with a huge loss of 585 range) - Faction Required Best (had to be mentioned): B-Tier: Vanguard Hellfire Autocannon: ~1,474 HULL dps, Range: 1,040 (damage bump actually worth the loss in range) Laser (not counting unimportant hull damage): - Non-Turreted: B-Tier: Dragon 251 UV Pulse Laser: ~647 SHIELD dps, Range: 1,300 - Turreted: C-Tier: Reza 300 PHz SX Pulse Laser Turret: ~871 SHIELD dps, Range: 1,300 As you can see, the best weapons aren't always C-Tier. If you want to go full battleship mode, spec only into particle beam weapons, and load up 3 types of particle beam turrets. The Obliterator is by far the best, but the B-Tier Disrupter 3320 Neutron Turret is far better than the C-Tier Disrupter Turret by about 200 dps. The PBO-300 should be kept, however. Edit: Also the B-Tier SAE-5660 engines give you twice the thrust to weight ratio so you could have more maneuverability and 140 speed. But if it weighs too much you absolutely need C-Tier engines, you should get the poseidon DT230 Engines and get ~3,000 more maneuvering thrust and lose 331 weight.
Guess you didn’t know or no one told you that you can build a large landing port at your outpost and then you can access all the upgrades from every manufacturer
Civshuttle is probably my favorite base ship in the game. It still leaves room for module improvement, and you can ditch the structural parts on the right side for some habs and cargo underneath. It's great, and the asymmetric look is awesome.
Great ship. Thanks for the video. I notice though, that the reactor you have, is not the standard fitted one. At least not the one that is fitted to the ship I bought, as it has the SF20 Sheared Flow Reactor. Looks as if you have the Fusor DC401 Reactor.
I have now built two ships from scratch. Both class C. The most recent I have dubbed the Tyrant. Hull: 1434 Shield: 2367 Cargo: 5350 Jump Range: 30LY Particle cannon damage of 96 with x4 Alpha Beam Turrets Ballistic damage of 186 with x3 MKE-9 Gauss Cannons 554 Missile damage with x2 Atlas Launchers.
the main problem, with the "Auto" turrets is as you said you cannot fire them manually and they fire themselves which makes disabling and boarding ships very very hard if not impossible because the weapons obliterate the enemy ships. and for those wanting to easily get max rank in piloting simply goto the flight sim and kill first 3-5 waves of enemys and repeat till you get max rank....
You do know you can lower/ switch power off to turrets right? Say they are on Weapon1, you can Alt+arrow down on Weapon1/ turrets which will disable them. Same goes for grav drive, if you dont put a point in it, it wont work, you cant grav jump until you put a point in it. When your enemy is low on ship health and is ready to be docked, just turn the power to your turrets off.... instead of spam clicking or holding a weapon to auto fire, you can leave the turrets as is and only press a button when you dont want to use it anymore...
Also - Va'ruun Hymn is well worth stealing if you can find one for early game. I've gone with particle weapons for mine and upgraded it to B class with 2000+ cargo :3 But yeah, definitely going to build a big ship with loads of turrets now. because those turrets are much better than I expect.
The only problem with the turrets, is if you want to disable a ship and board it, you have to remove all power to them to stop them from firing or they will more than likely destroy the ship before you get a chance to board. Which I really hope they patch the turrets to be able to be turned on and off via the assigned weapon button instead of having to tank the power to them to stop them from firing.
@@tsdobbi - The way around that is to get within 500m then knock out their engines in targetting mode and dock. As it seems turret's don't fire on your target in that mode.
Not quite. The Pinch 8a is arguably superior even with less power due to the 45%+ increase to hull. Apart from that class C ships and parts are middling to crap. The white dwarf 3015 is the fastest engine (A), the SA 4330 is the best engine for speed and mass ballance (A), the best weapons are in the A and B category. Overall you can build a significantly more effective ship and limit it to a class B reactor, or a ship whose only class C component is it's reactor
Random flying tip: "Pilot 1" unlocks the use of thrusters. This is *NOT* the boost capability as many players assume. On PC hold the spacebar and you enable them. You can actually strafe with your ship and turn around *MUCH* faster. You can essentially fly backwards at nearly full speed, giving the enemy behind you the good news.
@@jasonpatino ? I don't know any videos. Just try enhancing your turns with thrusters. and boosting above a target then hold the thruster button and aim down at them and fire or strafe them while still moving in the same direction. And when you feel like it let go then boost and move in the direction you are facing. repeat.
Personally, my ship is optimized for all PA, engines and shields. 4 high tier PA’s will take you a decent way through the game I’ve found. And you can shoot them basically forever
Favorite thing to do with my heavy Class C starship: 1) Position 2 of the 6 turrets to be facing the front top of my ship. 2) Position 2 of the 6 turrets to be facing behind my ship. 3) Position 2 of the 6 turrets to be facing the front bottom of my ship. Enter combat: fly around and turrets will take care of anything in front, behind, above or below my vessel. Long as you have a tanky ship, all you really need to do is fly around and wait for things to die. Only real problem I've encountered: If you make SysDef an enemy, your turrets won't fire at them in any other system, even if they are actively engaging you. If you know you're going to have a showdown with SysDef, equip at least one manual weapon.
Best weapon layout I found was the plasma guns (think that's the name - they damage shields and hull just the same, replacing lasers and ballistics), turrets for no-think fighting of other secondary targets... and, of course, EM guns for ship-capping. Didn't know about this ship in Akila, but upgraded a capped Fleet ship into something similar. Mine's slower, though, even with extra engines, due to how much cargo space I wanted. Slow to turn, but anything in my firing line is dead fairly quickly.
Did you test this out on very hard mode? Space ship combat in very hard mode can be BRUTAL without a ship that isn't very strong. I just finished the three wave space fight at the end of the crimson fleet story line with the Star Eagle and it was tough AF.
@SparkleBurst You will not win 30v1 in very hard mode with just a good ship without maxing out specific ship skills, adding companions with specific maxed ship skills and collecting specific magazines. Even then it's still tough but doable.
The star eagle has shit-tier weapons when you get it. In a very wierd config as well. Remove all the weapons and change them to particle cannons or electron beams. You only need 4-5 of whichever you pick. Make secondary weapon an EM weapon that you can chose to power up if you need to disable a ship. Otherwise just run particle/electron beams at full power and watch them demolish ships.
@@NoBuddy89 Good to know, yeah the weapons layout is very weird and makes it difficult to fly effectively while using them. I had to use a weird adaptation of gamer claw on controller to use it effectively. Beating all three waves in that mission with the default Star Eagle in Very Hard mode is probably my biggest achievement in the game so far.
Having completed a very in depth playthrough I would rack up loot by checking many of the unmarked moons for deserted bases and oftentimes you would see a large ship landing off in the distance and with built off stealth stats sneak up on it and stole 5 class c ships this way. Modified them up with the same top gear but doing different hull configurations and color schemes just for fun.
@DomsRoundtable I would love to see you do a "Perfect / Min-Max Cargo Ship" (Possibly in all 3 Grades)(So if your in early game, mid game, end game you still can have the most optimal cargo ship) Also where do you go to accept cargo missions?
Cargo missions are found on the mission boards in or near most Bars (like a standing computer terminal), same as the bounty missions. You can build your own mission board at your outpost for easy access.
A lot of the bounty board missions, maybe all, need you to use a cargo link to send the goods, so you don't need a dedicated cargo ship for them. But if you go to the main shipyards, like Deimos station or eklind/Stroud starstation, they offer bulk contracts that require lots of raw materials
@@Lava-pe6wu not the constellation boards, they are a different type offering missions from constellation. There are another type of mission boards offering bounties, passenger runs, and cargo missions. In outpost building you can cycle through with the mission board selected to build it and build either constellation boards or regular mission board
I tried to recreate a Galileo and it didn't really turn out anything like it, but in the end I was happier with my result. Then ran into a glitch where I could get underneath the map right under the venders. So I full invested in everything I could while the glitch was open as I could just keep recollecting the cash in their box under the map. Crazy how 12 years later Bethesda is still putting loot boxes under vendors that can are extremely exploitable once you get your hands on them. Brings me back to the good old Skyrim days.
In the start I just bought and used whatever ship, after NG+ I always design my own ships. I just find it so satisfying to make that ship the shape that I like and having all C parts. I just wish I didn't have to fly port to port just to get the specific parts I need. 😅
And you can't leave a ship in a non-flyable state, so you waste a lot of credits putting filler parts on to those unique parts. Sadly, while their are many videos showing each vendor's unique stock, I have yet to see one just showing the parts that don't show up at your own outpost starport.
Yeah sadly I think that's a feature they won't change since it makes sense to just have specialty parts on their original place. But I hope they make a ship parts inventory where you can just buy parts and store it somewhere.. I wish there was a mod like that. 😆
If it's just a matter of parts it is best to use the legendary razorleaf ship from the Mantis quest as a base for those parts as it comes with special passive abilities, one is to have a chance to slip contraband PlanetSide and another is an increase in chance of pirating and the third is pirates will fear you and have less chance to be instantly aggressive towards you and These perks are a must-have.

I'm just using the Kepler, with heavy modifications. Currently at 8k cargo, 400 missile damage, 240 ballistic hull damage, 390 laser shield damage and just under 1000 shield, with enough power to have weapons and shields fully powered and engines 1/3 powered. I took out The Key without dropping below 60% shield, most of the ships were destroyed before I could even target lock for missiles.
I built a class C with 4 auto particle beams and max shields, can fully power everything all the time and the beam weapons can shred any target before running out of juice and recharge quickly between targets. It's nice because there is no energy management and no weapon selection. Pick a target, hold down the trigger until it dies, rinse and repeat until you're surrounded by scrap.
Super similar to my method, I took the Kepler R from the stroud missions and made a few tweaks, including the 4 particle beams, and it just absolutely shreds. Added two emp cannons so my current strategy is take out the weakest ships and quickly disable the last ships engines then board and loot them for all they have
I ended up disabling and boarding a random pirate vessel took it for myself registered to be able to upgrade it. And recently I’ve spent about 49k credits adding an extra crew slot, weapon mount, upgrading nearly every major component that affects stats in a big way, reorganizing it’s original design to add said things, and adding cargo in a symmetrical and neat design that actually looks pretty good! I have better weapons, shields, engines, reactor, an additional weapon an extra crew slot, and cargo hold space that went from 800 to 2000 pounds being able to be stored. All for the price of 49k credits. And seeing as how the midtown home in Akita city costs 45000 credits I’d say this was a worthy investment to all of a sudden having a much less stressful time in space combat against multiple ships solving my inventory problem between worlds and otherwise making a custom ship design that I like! Let’s just say that the UCS StarGazer is looking mighty fine and worthy for the bounty wrangling, Space Wizard Scoundrel that I am!!!😂 Edit:(Also may end up changing the 3 letters at the start to something more akin to Freestar Collective as my character is literally just Sam Coe before I even knew Sam Coe existed in game or was a follower and my character as of this moment is extremely more inclined to be allying with Freestar whenever/if that option comes up. Damn UC pigs! Corrupt duckweed’s making me a citizen for stopping a terramorph attack when I just joined the vanguard for the easy credits! 😅)
The allocating shield power to guns when it's depleted trick is one I'm definitely going to try in the future. I will say that you should have put more weapons on so that your enemies need to cause more damage to take them all out. You also should have upgraded your reactor. 30 power is pretty low for a class C. Also the PBO 300 auto alpha turret is way stronger then any of the other guns you put on your ship. I prefer the vanguard obliterator and the PBO 250 or 300 auto alpha guns on my ship. Some of the highest damage per second in the game. Most ships die in just a few seconds. All in all, great video. Got a like from me!
Alright, stay with me: Do the questline through the rich constellation guy, for the Stroud ship design deal. Choose the kitchen sink options / max funding, do all the things, etc. You'll get a fairly cheeseball, massive ship called the Kepler. No, it is not any good... but it is a good baseline. Remove all the cargo boxes, replace with 3 of the max galleon square ones (like 1400 cargo each?) Trim off some weight and compact it down; remove a hull spacer bit beneath the grav drive / reactor, lower those one level, lets you similarly lower the docking port a level. Replace the engines with the 20k/9k maneuver thrust, I think three of them is the max. My build has all the habs from the base Kepler - 8 crew. But ups the ante to 34+ reactor power, 41+ grav thrust, max speed 130, maneuver 81, 1440 shields, and 4250 or so cargo. For weapons: 3x Obliterator Canon, 2x Atlas missiles, and 2x turreted auto beam of choice towards the back. 2-3 obliterator salvo's destroy most any ship up to L50 or so thus far, add some missiles if you need, auto help clean up those that fly past you.
For your rec here on the cargo holds: Replace, don't add. The stronghold comes with decent sized containers, but you can remove those and swap out for the larger holds, thus adding cargo space with less mass increase.
if you want a high capacity ship out of the gate for cargo then look out for silent runner at hopetown. Picked it up and gutted it ended up with 16k mass storage, ideal for a mobile base building ship and for doing the scanning stuff of planets
Slapped EMP onto my lengthened Frontier, making it look like the flying dragon thing in The Neverending Story. Relieved a VaRun-H built Galileo and kept in mind to use a hole in the middle to avoid majority of enemy firepower. Mobility? Agile as an elephant with one leg. Defense; Went up as LVL 16 vs LVL46 & his friends with similar stats. My life after it was over: slightly over 50%. Class: A... 😎
My answer: the Kepler R (possible reward from Overdesigned qust) I changed out the habs and removed some fuel tanks for extra habs, and upgrade the rector, grav drive, and engines as new parts unlock as I level up
This is the first ship I bought and I whole heartedly agree. I shredded every uc ship easily on the last crimson fleet mission. My shields didn't even break. What a beast!
Best advise ever. I finished the quest against Vigilance and the entire UC fleet in no time during the Crimson Fleet quest. Not even a single scratch. The turrets just shred them.
Any ship with a huge pool of hull points can stay in the fight with repair parts spam. They heal % damage like medkits, so the bigger the health pool, the stronger the heal. Someone who can afford a battleship can certainly afford the cargo space and parts as well. You also pick up more parts from most ship kills. With weapons I'd say nothing beats particle beams. High range and dealing equal amounts of shield and hull damage. Missiles depend on the weapon lock to do reliable damage, without they usually miss a lot. For a tanky C class you'd probably want to fully power one weapon group of particle weapons, of the "constant fire" type. The ones that don't say auto or rapid on them, and have something like 1-2 fire rate. Whatever other weapon groups you use, they'll be powered by about 20-50%, and for this the "burst fire" type is best. These basically have a recharging magazine, and will always fire at full dps no matter what amount of power is allocated. It's just the recharge speed that's affected. So you get bursts when you need them, and let them recharge the rest of the time. While the fully powered constant fire group keeps chugging the whole time. The only way I know of acquiring a strong C class reactor, before you are say lvl40 with high Ship Design rank, is to buy the Narwhal from the Ryujin Tower in Neon. With a strong reactor you are good to go, just slap on the best available particle beams, shields and engines. And a lot of Hull.
PSA. Tap boost and then hit space bar to cancel it to break lock on and always have boost leftover. Sustaining higher angular velocity keeps enemy lasers from following you and the perk that breaks lock on when boosted keeps the enemy constantly trying to lock on again. I rock a speedy B class now and nothing really hits you before they melt.
I heard this story about the *Abyss Trekker.* So I went to check it out at Paradiso. _You're right._ *_It's crap._* But I was sorely tempted by the *Stronghold.* But got swayed by the *Narwhal.* A Ryujin Industries ship in Neon. It's a mear 40k more, but hits harder and I upgraded it to hit even harder. And it's got a 36k reactor too! The best ingame that I've seen. _YET!_ ;-))... But... I've yet to do the _Freestar Rangers_ quest-line and there's a *Star Eagle* ship which is a class "A" ship that has a 29k reactor and very good 2,736 cargo capacity. That ship you can obtain doing their quests. _Apparently!?_ 8-\\...
currently, my best ship in starfield is one i made i call the Manta Ray, with 4 particle beam cannons doing 70 damage each to shields and hull, with no perk damage bonuses.. iot also has 1720K cargo space...
The best I found out to do is getting 2 key missions. First, Secret Outpost, to receive Mantis ship (beatiful concept, early game strong) and enter to Vanguard (to unlock exclusive parts, including an incredible shield of 1.450 very early), and the rest is modification. You will spend the same you would in these ships they sell, but probably 2 or 3 times better
For some reason this game is the only one that made me do different build, I ussually go for a balanced build, but damn.. Speed build is fun, and so is the Slow, Tank build with auto turrets... though balaned 130 top speed with 100 Manueverability is still my go to.

Would you do a video of two on the best ship in each class.
Facts I got a c class ship with 2800 sheild , 3200 cargo and 700 fuel with 97 maneuverability and 3 auto helion beams and 3 regular helion beams and it is a goat
Certainly not I built my own ship
actually the most claimed powerful ship is the narwhal are you new? lmao
Atlatl is pronounced at-uhl-ot-uhl.
Personally, I like designing my own ships "from scratch." I haven't gotten to C class yet, the star eagle is so good, they're hard to justify.
Upgrading the star eagle with class c piloting is legit insane.
@@DeinosAresthat’s what I use
I completely rebuilt the Frontier. Now it looks like a cross between a Y-wing and the Enterprise. Top speed is just shy of 200, with solid maneuverability, shields, and fire power. I only use particle autocannons and rockets atm, due to reactor restrictions, but both do solid damage to both shields and hull. For some reason I can't find a single B-class that's better than my A-class Tokamak
For anyone really interested into building your own ship with these specs, but not listen to all the video with all the comments on how to play the game (Great video for beginners by the way!), here's the parts list:
- SF20 Sheared Flow Reactor -> Doesn't seem to be the one he uses, but not mentioned. Will update.
- SGD3300 Grav Drive
- Assurance SG-1800 shield Generator
-> Go to Deimos in Sol for weapons
- 4x Supernova 2000 Engine
- 2x Atlatl 270C Missile Launcher (range + power)
- 2x PBO-300 Auto Alpha Turret (good damage)
- 2x Dragon 261 SX Laser Turret (good range)
Looks like he's running the Fusor DC401 Reactor, also available at Deimos Staryard
How do you add missile capability to a ship that doesn't come with it? I added the horizon weapon mounts, and the 270c launcher, but the ship still doesn't show missile capability and I get an error.
@@ramsoncole4605 If you jump to 1:45 in the video you can see the menu where you can assign weapons to the weapon systems
I was wondering what the fuck they were lol. I seen the tooltip saying I could use thrusters but didn't bother to check the controls how to.
dose that actually make any difference though? i know you can add thrusters and that you use them to turn. but dose more thrusters make you actually turn better?
It's a class C with mobility of 93, and is capable of 2-shotting the otherworldly ships. lol
I was going to build an Anaconda inspired ship today. Love that one in Elite.
Right. I only buy/steal a ship to rebuild it my way.
its good only to watch it.. its with no use after all :) " space game " indeed..
Looking to make myself a Type10 😂
I'm using the Narwhal. All I needed to add to it was some cargo space and I was good to go.

His 18,000kg cargo hold will transfer to the 200kg fighter and leave his fighters cargo hold at 18,000/200kg.
how are you doing that, when that's not how it works?
@@AdmiralKarelia and the key being you cannot pickup new cargo in the over encumbered ship.
I made a class ship from scratch, cost me 400k credits but it was well worth it because the ship is made how I want and its insanely powerful.

I am pretty bad at building ships, so I made a mess of my razorleaf, but I still love it to bits.

UC Vanguard has a great shield for ships. Level up a bit, use shipyard on outpost you own. The UC parts will be available.
They have it at Deimos too. It is the actual UC shipyard after all. And it’s available at like level 10.

Stronghold is a great choice I was tempted by the sheer amount of shield this thing can have too but opted for the Narwhal by Taiyo in Ryujin Tower just for its insane reactor and double engine setup

Just purchased the Narwhal and other than wanting to add Auto Disrupter turrents this Class C is a absolute monster of a ship.
Lol I just came here to say about Narwhall or Kepler R too. I agree Narwhal is awesome!
@@GingerJ73 Yeah i choose Kepler R every day its free you can use those 400k + for upgrades ...
Kepler R is another good ship with very high cargo capacity,
and it's 100% free!
You get it from completing a mission for Walter after progressing far enough into the main story.
Beware that you have to make the right decisions during the mission or else you will get stuck with the smaller and inferior Kepler L,
maybe save before doing the mission.
The ship you get from the rangers is absolutely insane.
for me, it's gotta be custom Narwhals. The 36 reactor is a must for me
there are also 2x 40 reactors which didn't show for me until i was maxed 4 in pilot and starship design.
This is one of my favorite ships visually. While I love each shipyard's aesthetic I have to say I really appreciate the utilitarian look of this ship. Also Stronghold is right. What a beast.
Also a similarly great ship is the Silent Runner which you can find at Hopetech (not Hopetown ship services).
What about crimson Wright iii the stronghold pales in comparison in combat
1- the vanguard autoprojector deals way more damage than these turrets, being cheaper in power and being just better than 99% of c class weapons
2- the star Eagles is literally free, even being a a class it still has 29 power
3- the stronghold is NOT the most powerful ship, the most powerful is the narwhal being sold for 400k in the taiyo industries, it has 36 power and comes with a better shield, you can just think and copy the star eagle design only keeping the reactor and the shield from the narwal
I would make a vídeo on how to make the best ship but unfortunely i dont know how to make good youtube videos
@@oberonmeisterso because it's a particle weapon AND a turret it gets both bonuses?
@@TheSometimeAfter yep, at least I saw it raising damage after upping both skills. I mean, why not? It is logical, isn't it? The same as when you level up both ballistic and rifles, for example - ballistic rifles get both bonuses
I find the auto turrets are sub optimal. If you use the regular version of those particle beams they do far more damage and you can spam them with no issues
Well, by the time I started seeing the Stronghold available, my own custom ship was already better by every metric, _so..._
The Kepler R is probably a solid alternative to most premades, albeit with the habs & engines swapped to your liking.
I fully agree.
The Keplar R with 300k worth of upgrades will outclass this stronghold any day of the week.
Something I always make sure to have are the workshop and research HABs
i have the same ship but i used EM weapons instead of missiles. for quests that require ship boarding. honestly those turrets are enough
If you're focusing on ship boarding wouldn't weapons that actually stop firing be better?
Bethesdaaaaaa whyyyyy lol
Because nothing feels more badass than cheesing it and being stuck flying a derpy ass cube.
@@johnjacobjingleheimerschmi9997 I got enough going on away from the screen that I don't need a 2nd job to enjoy a game.
if you do the quest for walter (after agreeing to do more work for him after his story quest) to help design a ship for his company, convince the project lead to throw huge funding into it and get everyone to compromise on the design you get a ship very similar to this (i would argue potentially better just going by memory) and you get it for free.
only problem i see... you do need a level of turret skill (tier 4 tech) to use the turrets. I saw a lot of videos going back and forth on it - and after testing i'm seeing it is actually required. even then they sometimes bug out so i tend to avoid them anyway.
otherwise... top notch vid! I've been subbed & lurking since early mount and blade 2... always nice to see a new video come out.
It’s not required at all. All you need for turrets to work is pointing them forward and do not place them in weapon hacks.
Actual best in class ship weapons in game since yours seem to be lacking:
*Note*: I calculated in terms of DPS at max energy cost for that weapon and tested with max skills in those weapons. My damage calcs are increased by 5% for each weapon type because I have 1 magazine for each except in ballistics.
Missiles: C-Tier - ATLATL 280C: ~2,256 HULL dps + ~1,513 SHIELD dps, Range: 6,240 (this thing is bonkers, nothing even comes close)
EMP: A-Tier - Nullifier 1750: ~524 EMP dps, Range: 1,040
Particle Beam:
- Non-Turreted: B-Tier - PBO-175 Auto Hellion Beam: ~871 HULL dps + ~871 SHIELD dps, Range: 3,900
- Turreted: C-Tier - Obliterator 250 MeV Alpha: ~961 HULL dps + ~961 SHIELD dps, Range: 4,225
Ballistic (not counting unimportant shield damage):
- Non-Turreted: B-Tier - Jishaku AlNiCo RF Rapid Railgun: ~1,019 HULL dps, Range: 1,300
- Turreted: B-Tier Jishaku Fe RF Rapid Railgun Turret: ~852 HULL dps, Range: 1,625 (The Marauder 115N Railgun Turret does 11 more dps, but with a huge loss of 585 range)
- Faction Required Best (had to be mentioned): B-Tier: Vanguard Hellfire Autocannon: ~1,474 HULL dps, Range: 1,040 (damage bump actually worth the loss in range)
Laser (not counting unimportant hull damage):
- Non-Turreted: B-Tier: Dragon 251 UV Pulse Laser: ~647 SHIELD dps, Range: 1,300
- Turreted: C-Tier: Reza 300 PHz SX Pulse Laser Turret: ~871 SHIELD dps, Range: 1,300
As you can see, the best weapons aren't always C-Tier.
Some pieces are only available at the main shipyards, like the bigger habs and cockpits.
Where do you get the Fusor DC401 reactor as it is not available at the Deimos staryard
@@maxpower2743 good question
I have now built two ships from scratch. Both class C. The most recent I have dubbed the Tyrant.
Hull: 1434
Shield: 2367
Cargo: 5350
Jump Range: 30LY
Particle cannon damage of 96 with x4 Alpha Beam Turrets
Ballistic damage of 186 with x3 MKE-9 Gauss Cannons
554 Missile damage with x2 Atlas Launchers.
the main problem, with the "Auto" turrets is as you said you cannot fire them manually and they fire themselves which makes disabling and boarding ships very very hard if not impossible because the weapons obliterate the enemy ships. and for those wanting to easily get max rank in piloting simply goto the flight sim and kill first 3-5 waves of enemys and repeat till you get max rank....
An atlatl is an ancient weapon. A short piece of wood used to throw javelins longer.
I'm loving the narwhal at the moment I've played about with it a bit upgrading weapons and such it is a monster
It's a far better ship than the "Stronghold" that's for sure haha. So many Creators trying to get views with the "Best ship in Starfield" clickbait 😂.
Just did this and it's super OP AND hard to board anything because it leaves ships in the dust. I took out 40 ships ana was not even paying attention.
Also - Va'ruun Hymn is well worth stealing if you can find one for early game. I've gone with particle weapons for mine and upgraded it to B class with 2000+ cargo :3
But yeah, definitely going to build a big ship with loads of turrets now. because those turrets are much better than I expect.
Let's be honest, C class ships unluck their full potential when you unlock the big 40 bar reactor at lvl 57
I agree stronghold is crazy it's really tanky and deal a shit ton of DMG too plus the cargo capacity is crazy too
Ok....But who buys ships
Right? 😆 I got a Wraith, Voyager and Hyena for free.
Random flying tip:
"Pilot 1" unlocks the use of thrusters.
This is *NOT* the boost capability as many players assume.
On PC hold the spacebar and you enable them. You can actually strafe with your ship and turn around *MUCH* faster.
You can essentially fly backwards at nearly full speed, giving the enemy behind you the good news.
..am i the only one that used the thrusters in combat. I never see anyone utilize them like i do 😅 there are so many things you can pull off with them
Not just you, I use them a LOT. Breaking lock to get shield back is kinda op
Wait, what? Link please.
Everybody thinks that their own ship is the best ship, Personally, I'm not going to buy any of those ships. I will make my own.
Favorite thing to do with my heavy Class C starship:
1) Position 2 of the 6 turrets to be facing the front top of my ship.
If you exit the chair when you start the sim you can hack the terminal behind it and make the sim easier
@SparkleBurst You will not win 30v1 in very hard mode with just a good ship without maxing out specific ship skills, adding companions with specific maxed ship skills and collecting specific magazines. Even then it's still tough but doable.
Having a big crew with synergizing abilities along with with your own skills with a proper ship. You will wreck almost anything.
@@ZaddyFlex Are these the Constellation Boards then? Where you can accept missions for surveying worlds as well ?
@@Lava-pe6wu not the constellation boards, they are a different type offering missions from constellation. There are another type of mission boards offering bounties, passenger runs, and cargo missions. In outpost building you can cycle through with the mission board selected to build it and build either constellation boards or regular mission board
okay so either i havent gotten far enough yet to unlock the missions themselves or i overlooked them.@@ZaddyFlex
I feel like at this point it’s an intentional “Easter egg”
Imagine ragequitting bingo
I have a couple of strongholds in my arsenal, i modified one into a battleship with 8 turrets, absolutely destroys anything in its path.
I actually like the econohaul as a middle tier ship
That's what I bought because of the cargo space 😂
Since the whole ship building wasnt for me, following this guide I got an amazing ship. Thank you!
Same here....don't have time to keep building ships after every NG+....lol
How much can you customize the Razorleaf btw? I'm working on unlocking more options from vendors
@@disgustipated86Build a Ship Building Pad/Landing Pad at your Outpost & Level Up your Piloting Skills along with all the Ship - Related Skills and you'll have all the parts available from all vendors (minus a couple irrelevant Faction-Specific Parts)
@@disgustipated86 I would replace nearly everything except for the engines which you need rank 3 starship building to buy but as it comes with them as long as you don't delete them you can still use them. The abilities aren't part of the parts, if you delete all the parts and build a whole different ship it's technically still the razorleaf according to the game and we'll keep the abilities inherent theirin
Added two emp cannons so my current strategy is take out the weakest ships and quickly disable the last ships engines then board and loot them for all they have
Ship builder is stressful but in the end thanks for this tanky ship build 👍
I am not into the whole ship building aspect. This video was huge for me. Thank you!!😊
Alright, stay with me:
Do the questline through the rich constellation guy, for the Stroud ship design deal. Choose the kitchen sink options / max funding, do all the things, etc.
You'll get a fairly cheeseball, massive ship called the Kepler. No, it is not any good... but it is a good baseline.
Remove all the cargo boxes, replace with 3 of the max galleon square ones (like 1400 cargo each?)
Trim off some weight and compact it down; remove a hull spacer bit beneath the grav drive / reactor, lower those one level, lets you similarly lower the docking port a level.
This is what I wanted to see. Storage is a pain in the rear.
Class: A... 😎
if you hit the space bar during fight you will easily follow any turning enemy ship .. better then trying to turn in normal power
My answer: the Kepler R (possible reward from Overdesigned qust)
I changed out the habs and removed some fuel tanks for extra habs, and upgrade the rector, grav drive, and engines as new parts unlock as I level up
The ecliptic claymore is slept on. Its base stats are almost maxed out and also starts 3500 cargo. I tried the narwhal but the claymore is much better
I'd say the best is between the Stronghold and the Narwahl. It comes down to if you prefer insane hull and good shield or insane shield and good hull.
_You're right._ *_It's crap._*
But I was sorely tempted by the *Stronghold.* But got swayed by the *Narwhal.* A Ryujin Industries ship in Neon.
