    The level of detail and the handy tips you include makes this series the most useful van build on youtube that I've seen. I thought a DIY build may have been too complicated for me but I'm starting to think it's possible. Thanks man. Great job.

    My favorite tip from your previous wiring video is to make loops of extra wire in the ceiling where the lights are going. That way when you install the ceiling all you need to do is cut the loop and join all 3 wires together. It is a dead simple way of doing it that seems seriously overcomplicated by most other builders. Thanks again!

    Thanks fie sharing all your knowledge with us, I will convert a van in the next months, I am currently looking your educational videos and looking to find what is better way, making all the electrical wiring down to battery or installing a power station, thanks. Javier

    Good video. Looks like you could of used a couple more feet of #4. I am just going to drill a couple holes in that vertical upright and avoid that squirrely wire routing at 11:30.

    Great video, well explained. I cheated in my van. Build. I use a Jackery 2000 and 1000. I have 6 AC, 2 12vt 6 usb 3000 watt of power! My lights are USB Recharge w magnets so i didnt have to wire Anythkng except maxair fan. I plug my ICECO refrigerator freezer in 12vt DC Port - that has 2 more USB Ports! I can plug microwave and all other things into Jackery 2000 has built in inverter w 4000 watt Surge! I can charge while i drive +or in campground. Do not have solar yet? Not doing #van life full time yet? Just retired 🎉 want to do Long trips next year?

      Hey, I am gonna do the same thing but the Ankor PowerHouse 767 3800 surge and 800 watts of solar....I just don't know what solar panels to go with I don't want s roof full of solar I think the traditional battery system is dumb...power stations are very advanced and make way more sense..

      @Van-life-4-Jesus I don't have solar yet? If u have solar on roof u have to park in the sun? My van is dark grey? Shadow Stealth! But absorbs heat from sun? I wild prefer to park in the shade? Portable solar panels can be moved around to stay in Sun while van is parked in the shade?

    • @Van-life-4-Jesus
      @Van-life-4-Jesus 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @josephjuno9555 I think you're think way to much into it... having solar panels upto you're passively always recharging your batteries.... free unlimited power.... that don't mean you can park in the shade... it also does not mean the sun has to be blazing hott anytime you're in the sun even driving your solar power will be charging your batteries... solar panels are phenomenal 😍 and makes you 100% self efficient if the power is out everywhere but because you have a awesome battery station AND solar you're good, mean that my perspective on it.

      here you go: amzn.to/3MxvRGM I usually dremel off the little tabs to make the walls go in easier later.

    • @BuildingVanLife
      @BuildingVanLife  ปีที่แล้ว

      they also make new work ones that you wouldnt have to dremel off the tabs but i find those harder to attach to the thin pine, they are made to attach to a thick 2x4

    Hey Ryan, I never saw where you addressed the two existing interior lights in the back of the van. Did you use their circuits at all or just disconnect them?

    • @BuildingVanLife
      @BuildingVanLife  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The lights that came with the van? Those I just disconnected. You don’t want to use those, they run off the starter battery. You want everything to run off the solar battery

  • @Salsuero
    @Salsuero ปีที่แล้ว

    Was it required to run the negative cable to the vehicle battery? Why wasn't it just run to the vehicle chassis? Isn't the entire chassis grounded?

    • @BuildingVanLife
      @BuildingVanLife  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve tried both ways. Only works running the negative wire

  • @pierrelambert9541

    • @BuildingVanLife
      @BuildingVanLife  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No for the distance the wire is traveling and having up to 50 amps w the dc dc charger I wouldn’t use any smaller

    Nice work as always! Question: can you link all the lights together or should each chain be two lights? I watched several times but couldn’t catch it

    • @BuildingVanLife
      @BuildingVanLife  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can link all the lights together. But I have two chains. 4 lights in the front which will be on a switch when you enter and two lights over the bed that will be on a switch by the bed so you can turn them on and off from bed.

    Hey, just curious- why did you locate the solar gland on the passenger side of the roof this time? Looks like you still plan to install the electrical system on the drivers side…

    • @BuildingVanLife
      @BuildingVanLife  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question, only because I put the ladder on the left side this time and didn’t want to be tripping over the wires when I’m up there cleaning the panels.
