Great video! Yeah I have the Klein stripper tool. Great quality! also, so pumped to see DIYers using closed-cell spray foam for insulation. once you spray everything it becomes a monolithic piece that provides extra rigidity for the van and you can definitely feel and hear the difference when you drive it. can’t wait to see the rest of the build.
Appreciate the tutorials! I followed your layout for framing and I'm currently halfway through my ceiling install. Always love seeing the jiu-jitsu attire as well! Thanks brother
Thanks for the video. But in Florida those thin cedar tongue and groove boards are too warped to be used for such a project. Maybe it is the humidity, maybe they are sourced from a different mill, IDK.
These videos are so instructional and detailed, I like that. Question though, how tall are you? I'm 5'11" and am worried about not being able to stand. Although I could do the floor differently to gain a half inch to an inch.
I’m 6 foot and in the beginning wearing my red wing boots w a heel. Once the finished floor is done the clearance is a little over 6’2”. You could do 3/4” insulation on the floor and save a 1/4” but I wouldn’t go any thinner than that
My wife and I used the exact same cedar panels for our ceiling and gave them a couple good coats of “Feed N’ Wax” before installing. Let’s the wood breathe a bit and maintains a nice natural finish. The van has an awesome light cedar scent too. We can reapply this stuff every year or so in about 10-15 minutes.
The best look and lightest is sheet aluminium, it can be covered in wrap. The wrap comes in hundreds of colours and patterns if won’t attract moisture either
look at the final result of the van then you will get it. Also it's not cedar. I might have said it was in the video but it's knotty pine. SO it doesn't have the aroma.
thank you, very helpful!!
Great instructions!
Thank you!
Can't waiting for the next video !!! Planning on starting my own build in no longer than in a year from now, so I'm taking notes!!!
Very cool thank you!

Thank you! Completely agree

Man that finish is perfection for sure. What color and type of paint did you use?
Thank you! It’s from Home Depot behr Swiss coffee semi gloss
@@BuildingVanLife such warm and cozy vibes!
Where did you get the planks? Getting desperate to find something for my van ceiling!
They are from Home Depot

Good video...have you ever tried staining the wood and putting on coat of urathane vs paint?

You can do it for sure. It’s just not the look I’m going for

Nice 👍
Hey Ryan, do you remember the length of screws you used to mount the ceiling planks? Seems 1-1/4 would bottom out into the metal.
They were 1” and 1/8th I think
Or maybe 1”. Can’t quite remember
The trouble with using timber besides excessive weight is it attracts and holds moisture, all timber does it
It’s like watching a train wreck. So good
I just can’t look away
WHY WHY WHY? OMG WHY woulf you paint over that beautiful cedar? Not to mention you lose that amazing cedar aroma! I feel sick watching this.

Damn I did it completely backwards
completely lost the wood grains ... what a waste.
