    Excellent Review, I bought these 8 months ago and I was impressed by the sound Quality and all the features it has. Recently I bought the Sony XM4s and Even though the noise cancelling features is way mucho better than the Quantum 800s, I got to Say that I like the sound Quality more in the Quantum 800s. It is amazing what JBL did with these. And I definitely use them more in gaming than the XM4. But is sad how they can get pretty uncomfortable, I use glasses with these, so imagine how annoying the clamping pressure in the ears get after using them for a while.

    After watching several reviews i bought myself the JBL 800 yesterday.
    Personally i have to say these sit very well on the head and dont wobble around at all, our heads dont see so different sizewise. No clue why they fall off so easily here, they are also pretty comfortable.
    I can agree that they are heavier tho, i dont mind but whatever suits your case.
    Also this headset has to be set up properly (to be fair i havent tried the jbl thing because i m too lazy to set it up, rather use dts x), only bass etc. but the difference between dts x with ANC on or off is drastic. You need to play around with the settings to find what you like most.
    It works fine plug and plug wise but setting it up gives you the best version.
    The guitar noise JSyntax hears seems to come when the headset is out of Line of sight/ further away to the connected device. I never have it when i m infront of the pc or in the same room but if i go 3 rooms further and LOS i also have that "problem".
    Conclusion: amazing headset but try if it fits you (size/ fit/ ...), maybe buy it in a electronic market where you can try it on or whatever.

      They sound good. They aren't too tight. But they are SMALL. The ear cups are way too small and just not comfortable to wear. I'm likely going to have to send them back.

    I've spend the day watching reviews, finally thinking my choices will be between this pair and Corsair Virtuoso XT. I don't know about Corsair yet, but this inability to easily swap out ear pads with JBLs is 100% a deal breaker for me. Thank you.

    • @SpaceAce114

      What did you end up getting? I tried the XT’s and didnt think the reported comfort or shallow earcups would be an issue for me but it was and i had to send it back. I got the 800’s from an Amazon warehouse deal, the build quality is certainly not as good as the Corsairs but sound and feature wise I love it. Bluetooth is nice and a high volume as i use it to game on PS5 whilst in Discord over BT via my phone (or xbox app for xbox party chats]

    The ANC cancelling only the highs is perfect for me - that means I won’t be able to hear my wife shrieking for me to come upstairs from my man cave. Also - the Bluetooth feature will be great because I will be able to answer my phone when she gets tired of screaming for me, without removing the headset! P.S. great review - good job!

    I've had no issues with comfort using the JBL Quantum 800. I did have the problems with them falling off when assembling my desk, but for the most part they stay on my head okay. I agree with you that some more bluetooth controls (change volume/switch tracks) would have been great. Overall a fantastic headset. I returned my Corsair Virtuoso XT's mainly because they were much less comfortable.

    Great review. Just few observation from mine side. Quantum surround and DTS is really crap. But Stereo + Dolby Atmos is stunning. Try it. Hardware volume controls are cheap and you will easily change the volume as putting the headphones on your head. I would like the possibility to complete disable them. Comfort is subjective, for me it’s pretty comfortable but they are little but to loose and can slip easily. That sound you have mentioned is when you are connected wirelessly to PC and the usb dongle loose connection with headset. So if you are connected to both and listening to BT and you leave the PC area you will get this sound which is quite annoying and this “feature” should be disabled. So yes, there are some flaws but sound is brilliant and best I’ve heard with wireless gaming headsets and this is the most important factor for me.

    • @JSyntax
      @JSyntax  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Oh wow! I was walking too far from the pc! I'm not sure how to get Dolby atmos in the stereo mode?

    • @misenko856
      @misenko856 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JSyntax Search in google for Dolby Atmos for headphones. You can download it from windows store. There is a free trial for 7 days. Once installed you just need to select Spatial sound and that’s it. It’s pretty straightforward.There are few sample movies in dolby atmos app where you can test it and it’s night and day difference. In games don’t forgot to enable 5.1 or 7.1 surround if Atmos is enabled. It will automatically convert it to 360 virtual surround + apply DSP and the sound is just incredible with these headphones. Give it a try ;)

    • @misenko856
      @misenko856 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hichristiangoodbye Do you mean in quantum engine? Make sure surround and dts are disabled. Enabe ANC and set EQ in engine to V-shape. Then enable dolby atmos spatial sound in windows and set the volume to 70 - 80%. Then in atmos app enable movie preset and try some of the trailers and prepare for madness :) I’m pretty sure you will never watch any movie with atmos disabled :-D Also CS:GO is incredible with this... Just make sure you have a good seal when ANC is disabled to prevent crackling/clipping.

    I will say i agree with the jack of all trades. Everything is great for the price point. However i. Big complaint is you can not charge and play using usb on 3.5 jack,Bluetooth,dongle. Thestyle is cool and great and as for comfort i have smaller ears seems ok. The sound is very different especially for gaming. What i have noticed whike listening to music and gaming on a pc static or distortion happen at times. All and all not bad if it allowed a charging option i would be ok with it im actually gonna exchange for something else. For anyone reading this whats the best headphones to get for around $200 price point i will mainky use it for gaming

    It does that sound because the 2,4 ghz can't reach very far, which makes the computer try to connect to them many times, that's why they make these sounds, while I was using them on my PS4 pro I noticed that when I got very far from it (10-15meters) it would try to connect multiple times via the 2,4ghz dongle , so yea , it's not a deficiency, it's just the range that they have

    Thank you for very deep, real life usage oriented, review. I`m currently looking for such setup (very good sound+BT & Wi-Fi simultaneously to pick up phone calls while gaming , ANC, good soft mic...). It was very helpful to place JBL in top three choices. Now I just have to make my mind...

    • @77meridiano
      @77meridiano 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JSyntax I`m still looking, hoping I`d find other options, but can`t really identify anything meeting my particular requirements. I`m considering SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless (very expensive but slightly better sound with DAC vs Arctis 9) and Audeze Penrose or Corsair Virtuoso (non SE - better mic). None of them has ANC, Virtuoso has no BT but sound is extremely good and mics sound good.
      I use Sony 1000XM2 and they sound beautiful when wired but mic is just horrible for gaming. I tried wires with built-in mic but it didn`t even work with my PC.

    • @77meridiano

      Well, I bought JBL after all. I don`t think there is currently another option offering similar package. I didn`t find any. And the price is hard to ignore. €159 currently in Belgium. BTW, did you set also disabled ANC when mic was being on? Mine does that. No review I watched, and I watched dozens, mentioned that.

    Well choosing a BT hardware with AptX -LL, and AptX-HD will reduce the latency by 10x but good only for Android phone, Windows OS laptop but not really for iPhones and Macs. This model has both 2.4Ghz and BT 5.0 (not sure if its AptX though no mention in the spec sheet) for wireless - or simply get wired using 3.5mm or USB-A to USB-C provided in the box. Well, it's also Hi-Res certified.

    One comment - the lack of Bluetooth native control is actually a deal winner for me. I don't like it when headset does not have its own volume control, and to play or pause is not exactly important for me (however surely the latter is good to have). With headphone like this that could connect to multiple devices, I would rather it has less possible action towards the host device.

    Hello, thanks for the review, I want to buy these JBL 800, their price is 170 or 190 dollars in my country. I always wanted some JBL and well, in my country they have a great offer of 130 dollars, it motivates me to buy them, seeing many reviews say they are comfortable. They are heavy but the pressure they exert makes up for it. Personally, I like that they press well and that they do not move. I will use them a maximum of 5 hours a day, in stages, after work and when I get home, so I don't think that The earmuffs bothered me, I have the hyperX Alpha S which are similar in terms of weight, so I don't think it's an obstacle for me, what matters most to me about headphones is the Audio and I know that these JBL 800 are superior to many others in the same price range, I can get some LOGITECH, or Razer. Corsair HS800 and these jbl 800 are better, I would like the 810 but in my country they are scarce.
    So, well, it's all a matter of taste.

    With my set, I'm not sure whether it's faulty or just how it works. Adjusting the chat/game slider is weird and acts more like a master volume. Lowering the slider towards chat turns down both volume. Please can you confirm whether yours does that too? Also, the power button doesn't seem to function like yours. Flick it on, the slider then goes back to where it was before.

    By any chance have you also reviewed the Quantum 600? Because as far as I can tell the only difference those two have is that the 800 has Bluetooth connectivity. But seeing that the mic isn't removable if I ever buy one it would be solely dedicated to my gaming desktop. So if the sound quality is the same maybe the 600, which is cheaper, would be a better buy.

      Hi Abdel, I plugged the USB dongle straight on my console and followed the instructions from the leaflet and it worked:
      1. On the headset, slide the power switch upwards and hold for more than 5 seconds
      until the status LED flashes white.
      2. On the 2.4G USB wireless dongle, hold CONNECT for more than 5 seconds until
      the LED flashes white quickly.
       Both LEDs on the headset and dongle turn solid white after successful
      connection.
