    Sorry I wasn’t clear on the instructions. My Tuners are a tool less design. Screw in the screws until you feel then touch and then give the screws an extra 1/2 turn or so. That will allow you to turn the tuner by hand yet still give enough tension so tuner will stay put. No tools needed. You want about same tension as the power ring on your scope.
    Also, screw the tuner in all the way and then work it back towards muzzle. This is more of a preference than anything, but keeps things looking more neat.
    Thanks for the review and support.

      Yes, thanks for clarifying this Erik. I just installed my EC Tuner/Adapter on my PVA barreled RimX and noticed with the tuner cranked all the was down, it the zero indexes at the 9' O'clock position. Would it make a difference though, if the tuner was within 5 hash marks from zeroing at 12 O'clock and starting from there?

    • @rustynut1967
      @rustynut1967 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@boxerglocker It doesn't matter where the zero starts out. Start with it all the way in. The numbers are a reference.

    I found the difference between being over the barrel and on the end of the barrel is the revolutions needed to turn the tuner.
    Over the end turn the tuner in eights and over the barrel make full revolutions.
    Personally I prefer the look of the Harrells tuner/brakes ( I don't like the look of the 22lr tuners but you could buy a radial ported tuner/brake for a better look)

    When using the Lapua test center to select ammo, would you test with the tuner on or off?

    • @The4GunGuy
      @The4GunGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      HI Steve! At first Devan said to send in the rifle exactly how I would have it set up for a match. I thought about that and called him to discuss...My question was "If I have a tuner on there that I've tuned to a specific round and even specific lot, won't your test be messed up?" He agreed, so I just sent in the barreled action with the thread protector on the end of it. My thought is that when he finds the right round/lot combination, THEN I'll tune it up on that selection. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

    4gunguy kills me how almost every video he does where he shows his shots and he uses the same targets that he shot on another day with another gun or different ammo (or whatever). Therefore, he has to point or circle with a magic marker what groups he is shooting in his current video. But I like your reviews anyway. LOL

    Great review! I love my EC tuner on my rimfire. Although, instead of using the rimfire adapter, I chose to have the threads machined on my barrel and install the tuner on there. Erik Cortina is a great guy and we get to support a Texas local. Great choice

      Good plan Mark! I generally use my SK Match for practice ammo out to say 200 yds, which works great. Honestly, that ammo seems to be just as good (and sometimes better) than the Lot of Center-x I got from the testing center. I may do more research on the SK Match and if it holds true, might just use that for matches once my Center-x is gone and save some $$$. Thanks for watching my friend and hope it works for you!

    So, it's now been over a year since you did this video. Is the tuner still performing as well? Have there been any major adjustments as you've put more and more bullets through the barrel? Enquiring minds want to know!

    • @The4GunGuy
      @The4GunGuy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi George! I have since gone to a straight taper barrel (planning on a video on it) and didn't see the need for the tuner any longer. I'm pretty much punching one hole at 100 yds with just the straight taper barrel. BUT, in the time I had that tuner on the old barrel it performed great. I may try it on the new barrel just to see if I can squeeze a bit more accuracy out of it though. Thanks for watching my friend!

    I have two EC Tuners. One is on my Vudoo V22. I installed the adapter, screwed the tuner till it bottomed out. Then I backed it off just a touch. My 0 position was at the 9 O’clock position on my barrel. Put a dot there and started the tuning process using Lapua Center-x. My sweet spot turned out to be the number 7 mark. I just want to say, I was surprised you had to go out as far as you did. I have another lot of Center-x to shoot. Will be interesting to see where it comes in at. Happy Shooting

      Hi Bill! Yes, once you find the right setting it will work for all distances. I'm running a 1.25" straight barrel now, so I don't use a tuner (probably would help a little, but diminishing return if you know what I mean), but when I did run this one, a single setting worked. This was one of the better videos I've seen on tuners. One thing I would like to see is multiple targets without the tuner, and multiple targets with the tuner. Actually the more targets of each the better. One group at one setting vs anoter group at a different setting really doesn't give an idea of what kind of average improvement we might see. Can you do a vid like that? Maybe even shoot it indoors to take out the wind factor?

    • @The4GunGuy

      Hi Jeff! I love your idea and wish I had shot the video that way. Unfortunately, I now run bull barrels on my Vudoo and honestly don't even need a tuner on it so I sold the EC Tuner. Thanks for watching and I really do endorse his product for the right situation.

      Hi Ray! I don't think the tuner brake would work since the adapter for this tuner sticks out and the brake part of the tuner brake would actually be over that piece and wouldn't really help with the "braking" part...Hope that makes sense. Great results overall! A follow up question though - have you repeated the test with the Center-X on another day? If so, did you find you had to change to another setting on the tuner? I have a tuner on my CZ 457 LRP, and found I needed to change to a different setting. I am not sure if that is due to atmospheric conditions or why. I shot the same lot of Center-X, so all parameters were the same, except the weather.

    • @The4GunGuy
      @The4GunGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Ken! I haven't had to change the settings for the same lot of Center-x. HOWEVER, I will tell you that a BAD box of Center-x cost me dearly this past weekend at a match. Shot three stages just fine and accurately. Went to a new box where unfortunately we had to go out to 200 yards and FOUR of my ten shots were 1 - 2 MILS above the target...not just a bit over...WAY OVER. I couldn't figure out what happened and knew it wasn't me since we were shooting off of a table and I had a very stable position built. So, I went to another box and on the next stage, which went out to 200 and 247 yards, I was hitting just fine. Very disappointed and now questioning the quality of Center-x.
      I also do believe however that the heat will affect the cartridges, but I'm not going to adjust unless it's way out of line in practice/pre-match, or, when the weather is decidedly different (going from 100 degrees as is now to say 40 degrees this winter).
      Thanks for watching my friend!
